Hillary Clinton Owns the War in Libya and its Horrible Aftermath

By David Harsanyi

October 24, 2015 6:43 am

Libya is in chaos. It's a festering pit of radicalism, anarchy and death, epitomizing everything that can go wrong when Western intervention has no clear long-term purpose. And a woman who believes she should be president of the United States -- ostensibly on the strength of her decision-making abilities as secretary of state -- believes that what's going on in Libya is a success.

This point seems pertinent. So beyond any facts surrounding the American deaths in Benghazi, the blatant lying about her computer server or whatever else Republicans may or may not uncover about Hillary Clinton, one of the most politically relevant topics examined by the House Benghazi Committee is her insistence that Libya was not a "disaster." Over and over, in fact, Clinton argued that Libyans had elected "moderates" and that democracy had thrived and that all things were peachy (though she does concede there were security risks). And she was still praising the Arab Spring long after its collapse into violent radicalism across the Arab world.

They have been out of office for almost 8 years and are not trying to get back in. Hillary is a proven liar and is trying to run for president right now,

No. The Democrats just didn't do the decent thing and go after the crooks when they had the chance.

Watching that kangaroo court was almost as funny as Gowdy's answer when he was asked what they had learned that they didn't know before: Jack ----!

Still at least you're telling me 8 years is a good time to give it up.

That will be three years into Clinton's first term.

If they had, Bill and Hillary would be out of the game already. He should have been convicted of perjury when he was president.

They hate Hillary because she is the frontrunner. Just like back in high school, some hated the popular kid.

The hostile right wing fanatics can't muster a candidate that can beat her so it's attack, attack, attack..boring.

Only the frothing numbskulls that watch political attack 'news' go on and on about Hillary being dishonest.

The right wing fanatics constant "sky is falling" attacks have steered the independent voters toward Hillary.

Dozens of faked scandals have come and gone.

The Benghazzi incident isn't sticking so their only hope now is a treasure hunt, going thru her emails.

The sad, pathetic, hostile, isolated right wingers have dragged the GOP into the gutter.

A complete makeover of the GOP or disbanding and forming a new party might be the way to go for the reasonable conservatives.

Ok, we get it. Right wingers don't like Hillary. Why? Because she's a strong and effective female (but they won't say those reasons). By nature, right wingers want everyone to think like they do. They tried chopping her down when her husband was prez, with her proposals for a sensible health-care bill and with Whitewater. Yet she soldiers on. Right wingers look around and see there are still people who like Hillary, so they intensify their attacks. It's a self-perpetuating spiral. As long as Hillary perseveres and as long as a lot of people like her, the Republicans will continue to be hell-bent on trying to cut her down. The name-calling is getting ever-more nasty, and won't abate when she gets the top job. It's a sad pattern of vindictiveness, a waste of calories, ......and it's sad for the USA on many levels.

Yes, a sad pattern of vindictiveness but a reason to get up in the morning, another day of hating. Hate is what passes as a soul in Wingnuttia.

Democrats don't hate like Republicans or what passes for Republicans these day. They're so far out there, they can't be reached. Since the rise of the right wing media and it's group-think mentality, playing into that hate and fear, they've completely lost the plot.

Oh yeah, I forgot, I do hate one Republican, Darth Chaney. But hating Chaney isn't being a hater, that's being a human being.

Pure speculation and not proven. This is just Right Wing diatribe on what they wish happened not what actually happened.

Honest? There are emails - the ones she tried to hide - that PROVE Hillary knew that the video was not the cause of the attack and your "accurate" quote proves that the statement should be attributed to George Orwell anyway. Richard Grenier changed it slightly, when he repeated it, but it was obviously Orwell's idea.

Actually all they prove is that initially that's what she thought. Subsequent investigations, including your party's previous witch hunt (Number 7? Or was it Number 8?) said that the subsequent claims over the video by her and others were based on faulty intelligence.

Hillary was cleared.

Your kangaroo court has failed, why don't you just admit it?

60% Think Hillary Clinton Basically Lied About Benghazi
10/30/2015 07:00 PM ET
Scandal: Hillary Clinton's performance before the House Select Committee on Benghazi was praised. But to the public, it was evidence that she and others misled the public about the causes of the 2012 attack.
The latest IBD/TIPP poll finds that 60% of those who followed the hearings believe that the Obama administration "deliberately misled the public by saying that the attack was inspired by an anti-Muslim video."
The six-day nationwide poll of 910 adults, which ended Thursday night, found that 65% of independents and 56% of moderates think the administration effectively lied about the cause of the attacks.
Almost a quarter of Democrats (24%) think the administration misled the public.

Nope. There's lots more stuff coming out...like this for instance.

Remember Hillary saying under oath she didn't take care of trivial matters like Embassy security? Those trivialities never reached her desk...so she claimed.

Clinton emails show increased Benghazi security for Libyan PM
By SARAH WESTWOOD
10/30/15 5:17 PM
The latest batch of Hillary Clinton's private emails includes one that shows Clinton made an effort to help evacuate the acting Libyan prime minister from Benghazi amid a crumbling security situation.
It was released by the State Department just a week after congressional Republicans grilled Clinton for failing to respond to requests for more security from her own ambassador, who was killed in the 2012 terror attack in Benghazi.
The email shows Clinton received a request for supplies to help the acting prime minister leave Benghazi and transition into Tripoli, the nation's capital. Clinton seemingly greenlighted his request, and asked her aide Huma Abedin if the U.S. government could ship the requested supplies to a Libyan port.
The message from August 2011 is likely to give fresh fodder to her critics, who point out that requests for tighter security for U.S. officials never made it to her desk.

Extra security for a Diplomatic Mission and a request for assistance to relocate an acting Libyan Prime Minister. Pretty clear which request is going to hit a Secretary of State's desk with a thud. The cost of this foolish political witch hunt should be forwarded to the Republican Party's Super Pacs. What a waste of Taxpayers money.

I liked the reaction of Trey Gowdy when asked what new details came from his panel's 11 hours of grilling the former secretary of state over her response to the 2012 attack on a U.S. diplomatic compound in Benghazi. and we got that Dan Quayle look, the deer caught in the headlights of a car, priceless. Oh well no matter they should be able to fit in another couple of hearing between now and the 2016 election.

So in the last clown show, Rubio called Clinton a liar because her initial, and personal opinions on the root cause of the Benghazi attack did not match the administrations subsequent position.

Yet as a member of the Senate Intelligence committee, he signed a report which exonerated her and made it clear that faulty intelligence drove the administrations initial position on the video.

Which in my book, makes him the liar.

But still, he seems to be a bit economical with the truth on many issues, doesn't he?

  • 2 weeks later...

Put this in perspective, when conservatives argue that Hillary Clinton was negligent ahead of the Benghazi attacks.

Compared to the multiple warnings received by President George W. Bush ahead of the 9/11 attacks, its easy to see a double-standard.

The FBI delivered warnings just weeks before the 9-11 attacks, including directly to the president, but little was done.

‘There will be significant terrorist attacks against the United States in the coming weeks or months. The attacks will be spectacular. They may be multiple. Al Qaeda’s intention is the destruction of the United States.’”

Bush never mobilised domestic agencies. They did not have direction, and did not have a plan & the borders were not hardened. Transportation systems were not fortified. Electronic surveillance was not targeted. State and local law enforcement were not marshalled to augment the FBI’s efforts. The public was not warned.

There were just 2 congressional investigations into the 9-11 attacks where 3,000+ American citizens were killed on home soil.

There have been 8 individual inquiries into Benghazzi still going 3 years later into the deaths of 4 CIA guys in a war zone.

She knew it was a terrorist attack from the first day, but she lied to the families of the murdered men and to the American people. Her OWN HIDDEN EMAILS proved she had been telling lie after lie which she kept denying until exposed by her own written words.

The only people who see Benghazi anything other than a tragic event are far right wingers and even then their outrage is a political vendetta rather than any attempt at exposing political misinformation.

It is such a shame that American people align themselves with the deeds of terrorists to prosecute their political desperation and hatreds.

Why is this nonsense still a thing? Because the Republicans have nothing else to offer? This Benghazi crap is just silly at this point.

The Republican candidates are so bad all they have left is Benghazi, no discernible ideology or policy agenda, Benghazi, Benghazi, Benghazi. clap2.gif
