CCTVs

I see CCTV cameras appearing in a few places in the Chang Clan area (outside River Market and on the Pantip crossroads). What do you think the purpose is? Will anyone actually be monitoring them?

My Mrs has been done for not wearing a helmet, fine through the post from a CCTV camera photo.

You need to be unlucky enough for someone to actually be watching at the time though I think.

You can probably come to your own conclusion here as to what will happen with them.

My thoughts: Most will malfunction and not be replaced or repaired, the viewing room will be understaffed, and generally it will have been a huge waste of money.

However, I do hope I'm wrong.

They don`t require a viewing room, these cameras can record automatically and only played back if necessary.

Eventually Thailand will become like England, where every few metres there are CCT cameras watching us everywhere we go. As Thailand creeps more into the 21st century it`s bound to happen. Expert to see many more CCTs suddenly appear over the next 10 years. Next it could be speed cameras and even parking meters, nothing would surprise me.
