Australian Chamber of Commerce or a "catchup" area for Australians

I am hoping that some of the longer staying Chiang Mai expats can help me. My husband and I have just relocated and we are wondering if there may be a Chamber of Commerce or a club/pub where the Aussies ( and others) may meet? Any info appreciated.

hi, we have been here for 4 months and met a few Aussies through the CEC (Chiang Mai Expats Club).

There is also the Down Under Bar in Loi Kroh road (near the Ping River end) and the UN Irish Bar in Ratvithi Rd (though we haven't been there yet).

I've been here for six years and have never gone out of my way to meet Australian expats. If that is what I wanted I would have stayed in Australia.

I have a nice mix of friends who I like because of what they are not because of their nationality.

Look around, there are some great people from around the world who live in Chiang Mai, not just Aussies.

thankyou Lizard 2010..I appreciate your assistance..And I shall call by and meet all at Expats club..Sounds like a good bunch....

Saan, thankyou for your reply also....To each their own...........

They have a meeting once a month at the La Meridian hotel on the 4th Saturday of the month' Starts at 10:00 in the morning. Get there about 9:30 for a cup of coffee and some finger sandwiches. Cost is 150 baht for members. More not sure how much for non members. They will have a guest speaker. The speakers will be on many different things.

This is not the same as the Breakfasts that have been mentioned. They are both western buffets very good ones and pure social events meet many new people there.

nice social club etc etc

but

take good loving care, of your hard earn, tsmile.png

and anywhere in chiangmai for that matter. the hustlers are here in droves since the farung invasion of around 2007/2008 approx

the very best of luck biggrin.png

Yes, it is true that everyone should do their research before making investments and weigh risk vs. reward carefully, esp. with regard to funds that are intended to last for the rest of their life.

However, you'll find that none of the current sponsors of CM Expats Club are "hustlers" out for your money -- unless, of course, you put Bangkok Bank in that category. And if any individual (who is not with Bangkok Bank) contacts someone one-on-one at a CEC event about an investment opportunity, the Board of CEC would like to know about it.
