NEW YORK, 23 September 2016 (NNT) – The Prime Minister has met with the Business Council for International Understanding (BCIU) to discuss the development of trade and investment cooperation, while informing Thai communities in the United States of the government’s work.

Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha attended a meeting with private sector leaders held by the BCIU at Plaza Athenee Hotel in New York, on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly. Gen Prayut saw the meeting as an opportunity to boost Thailand's investor confidence among American businesses, and discussed the potential for trade and investment cooperation.

Prior to the meeting, the Prime Minister met with the local Thai community in New York and other states to clarify the work of the government over the past two years. He claimed that his administration has helped solve many problems in the country, while laying the foundation for national reform in all aspects by upholding His Majesty the King's Sufficiency Economy Philosophy.

Gen Prayut also explained that the 20-year national strategy was established along with mechanisms that will allow the next administration to continue national reforms started by the current government.

The Prime Minister stressed that the government has always enforced the rule of law to maintain justice and order in Thailand, to foster stability and boost confidence among investors.

Gen Prayut is set to chair the Group of 77 meeting during the UN General Assembly, where he will be presenting the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy with an exhibition prepared by the Thai government. His Majesty's philosophy is starting to gain traction among other countries.

Thai communities in the US and elsewhere have access to the international media and will be only too well aware of the junta's ' work '.

Yes, it's amazing how—for some Thais who have lived overseas—it becomes apparent that the truth about Thailand is very different from the official narrative...

Yep. If you want to learn about Thailand, no point in going to Thailand - the propoganda will blind you to the truth.

"An appearance of transparency" I believe the person in charge of the Thai stock market said he wanted for westerners to feel comfortable to invest in Thailand.

That seems to be the new reality of all business private of state-run ones in Thailand.

I don't suppose he mention 51/49% split in favour of Thai (must have) partner!
