BANGKOK: -- JUSTICE MINISTER General Paiboon Koomchaya has kept the Anti-Corruption Operation Centre (ACOC) away from an ongoing scandal concerning Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha’s nephew over alleged irregularities in construction contracts awarded by the Army.

The Paiboon-led ACOC has so far not received any complaints or queries from any individual or agency in relation to these contracts worth a combined Bt155 million.

However, the Auditor-General and the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) have investigated the allegations and learned that Prathompol Chan-o-cha had set up his company's office inside the compound of the Third-Region Army.

Corruption staring you right in the face.  The justice minister, a member of the junta a close friend of Prayuth keeps the Anti corruption center away from the Chan-o-cha family.  Perverting the course of justice charges will never be laid because these people granted themselves an amnesty for everything they do.  This sham of a government has a real stench and is starting to look the dirtiest in Thai history.  They are laughing at the people

What's this, not even the pretence of a sham investigation for public consumption ?

Now that IS arrogance.

Can't wait to read what they say about the company office being inside an army base.

Despite what Prayut has be saying about the junta and the NCPO being more transparent, making any comment about the activities of this pair is simply futile.

One can only hazard a guess at the conversation taking place between them while the photo was being taken!

Perhaps it would have been something like this:

They will have find some more redshirts to burn at the stake so they can prove that they are still serious about fighting corruption.

Remember what the apologists say. It doesn't matter that they are one sided. As long some corruption is being dealt with it's all good

Big fail, if they wanted to prove they were against corruption they would have done a good investigation and made it transparent and clear. Major fail here no excuses.

They never wanted to prove anything. They wanted to return things to the way they were before and make sure the good people got to run these things, just like the good old days. They've been very successful and it's all going according to plan as this story shows.

Are things becoming a bit clearer these days?

Oh they still went after far more corruption than the PTP so they are still ahead. But what has become clear to me is that they are worse as I thought but still preferable over the PTP.. but the margin is getting smaller.

time to put their money where their mouth is and have this investigated or they are simply no better than the previous ptp govts. Family or not, if someone is following corrupt practices they need to be investigated and charged, anything else is simply extreme arrogance. What happens now will be pivotal to the current pm and what he claims he stands for, is he there for the country or for his families benefit

It's been proved there's no shame in the junta so things will roll along without any care or concern and the PM et al will still spout all their transparency and anti-corruption BS minus the obvious codicil " this doesn't apply to us. "

Wow! It's now 155 Million baht in contracts. This is typical Thai Corruption. A full investigation is needed.

155 million on paper/that the public knows about. I suspect the real figures are significantly higher. Keep in mind also, the nephew (and other family members) might be involved in multiple rackets that we simply haven't heard about.

'The Paiboon-led ACOC has so far not received any complaints or queries '

I wonder how many people actually got as far as this (2nd paragraph of the article) before a collective geezer wailing and gnashing of teeth occurred?
