Prayuth Chan-ocha congratulated Donald Trump on the presidential win today, saying it is democratic principle that the voice of the people has to be accepted.

He noted that, "We have to adjust to changes. Things keep changing. I have not been indifferent to change. Instead, I have been keeping abreast of it.”

About keeping good relations with the new president-elect, he said, "We have to think about what we can do for the best interests of our country. No matter who is the next U.S. president, we will continue to cherish the U.S.-Thai relationship of more than 180 years,” reported Bangkok Post.

PS Even though we are cozying up to China please keep on sending our annual stipend. Please understand our situation. We depend heavily on Chinese tourism and thus must retain good relations with them. We will never sic sic become part of the Silk Road (a means to ensnare and enslave peoples in foreign countries by making loans we know they can never pay back. Watch the Silk Road sideshow on Tuesdays on Channel Asia) or be drawn into the Chinese sphere of influence. Congratulations wink wink on your tremendous Democratic election win. We are a fledgling democracy still looking to grow flight feathers but rest assured we will be joining the Democracy club after our next open and free election wink wink.
