Trump Intensifies Attacks on Harris as Race Heats Up

He's a pretty clever bloke, PhD in Physics from Oxford, who early on recognised the potential of the Internet. CAGR wise, he's done better than trump. Now, I reckon there are some even clever entrepreneurs out there, who know how to build a business. Trump doesn't really know how to do that. https://www.newyorker.com/news/our-columnists/as-a-businessman-trump-was-the-biggest-loser-of-all -

The Death penalty your opinion
He should have been executed 30 years ago but due to appeals he got to live all those years extra. He hasn't been "punished".......he's had a bonus. Lucky him. NB. I am speculating about the appeals because you have given no references or information whatsoever about what the circumstances were. -

Myanmar Family Brutally Murdered in Prachuap Khiri Khan, Pregnant Woman and Child Dead
Picture courtesy of ThaiRath. A shocking triple homicide has rocked the community of Hua Yai, Prachuap Khiri Khan province, where a heavily pregnant Myanmar woman and her young daughter were found brutally murdered in their rented home. The heinous crime, believed to have been committed by fellow Myanmar nationals, appears to have been motivated by robbery. The gruesome discovery was made on August 31, when Police Lieutenant Colonel Jakrawut Klangkarn, an investigator from Huai Yang Police Station, was alerted to the deaths of the mother and daughter in their residence located in Moo 4, Ban Huai Maprang, Huai Yang Subdistrict, Thap Sakae District. Authorities rushed to the scene, where they found the body of 38-year-old Kin Wai Lin, who was eight months pregnant, lying on her back on the bed. She had suffered severe injuries to her face and head, inflicted by a blunt object. Nearby, her 7-year-old daughter was also found dead with similar head injuries. Preliminary forensic examinations suggested that both victims had been dead for at least three days. The tragedy was uncovered when a local former politician, who had hired the woman's husband, 40-year-old Saw Win Oo, also a Myanmar national, to cut rubber trees in Ban Hua Khao, Moo 10, Huai Yang Subdistrict, became concerned. The husband had not shown up for work and was unreachable, prompting the politician to send someone to check on the family. The shocking discovery of the two bodies was made soon after. Later that same day, at approximately 15:30, Kasem Phimsakart, the village head of Ban Hua Khao, was informed by local residents of another death. This time, the body of a Myanmar man was found in a rubber plantation on a hill, about 500 metres from a local childcare centre. The victim had been viciously attacked with a sharp object, resulting in fatal wounds to his neck and head. The man was later identified as Saw Win Oo, the husband of the murdered woman and father of the slain child. His body was found lying atop a chainsaw, indicating he was likely killed while working. Village head Kasem noted that the murders were likely connected, suspecting that the crimes stemmed from a conflict with two other Myanmar nationals whom the deceased had brought to work alongside him. After receiving his wages from the former politician, totaling between 40,000 to 50,000 baht, it is believed that Saw Win Oo was killed by his co-workers, who then fled with the money. The killers are suspected of murdering his wife and child later to eliminate any witnesses. A younger brother of the deceased, who is 32 years old, revealed that the family, originally from Tanintharyi in Myeik, had been working in Thailand for over a decade and held legal work permits. He expressed deep sorrow and anger over the brutal murders of his brother, sister-in-law, and niece, who were likely killed by their own countrymen in a robbery that also saw the theft of gold jewellery and a Honda Wave motorcycle. Authorities are continuing their investigation, and it is reported that the two suspects have likely fled back to Myanmar using unofficial border crossings. The local community, shaken by this unprecedented violence, is cooperating fully with law enforcement as the search for the perpetrators continues. -- 2024-09-01 Get the ASEAN NOW daily NEWSLETTER - Click HERE to subscribe -

The Death penalty your opinion
Definitely should be death penalty with suitable safeguards. I've always thought that, purely because it's so expensive to keep people in prison. Alternatively make people pay for their crimes, police costs, court costs, prison costs etc -

President Kamala Harris
World leaders checking watches Of course, Biden glanced as a watch during a coffin transfer ceremony, rather than a formal moment of silence. At least he went. During Trumpf's period in office, there were 96 such ceremonies Trumpf went to 4 of them. During one of those, he invited a Holloywood actor, Jon Voight, to come and have a look. Of course we know Biden checked the time during a ceremony, because a photographer was gawping at him taking that shot that he hoped he could sell. Is the fact that there are no photos of Trumpf checking a watch, picking nose, gobbing on the floor, picking his arse, rubbing his crotch during such a ceremony proof that he never did any of that? Does a photo like this mean Trumpf has no respect for the disabled? Between 1991 and 2009, the media were not allowed to attend the "Dignified Transfer", with the ban lifted by Robert Gates, which also allowed families to attend. The US military's definition states is a process, not a ceremony. It was right to allow the families to attend, but probably misplaced to allow the media, who are generally not interested in the process being carried out, except photos that can be symbolic; a President checking a watch as evidence of disrespect (its not, its someone checking the time), or flag draped caskets being symbolic of US failure/weakness (its not), or a President self consciously saluting as proof of respect (its not, its an ex-Hollywood president self aware of the cameras). Then same happened in the UK; it was bordering on the ridiculous with the lined of Jaguar, Volvo, Vauxhall etc hearses parading through Royal Wootton Bassett, with the Repatriations moving from a private act to a public spectacle.- 1

Police Crack Down on Illegal Potassium Gold Cyanide Trade
Picture of the seized chemicals. In a decisive move to prevent the recurrence of a tragic incident involving the misuse of hazardous chemicals, the Economic Crime Suppression Division (ECD) raided an illegal distribution point for Potassium Gold Cyanide, a highly dangerous substance often used in jewellery manufacturing and medical fields. The raid, led by Pol. Lt. Gen. Puttidet Boonkraphue, Commander of the ECD, and ordered by Pol. Col. Chatchawan Chuchaicharoen, Chief of Subdivision 2, resulted in the arrest of Prasert Suwansarikasem, 33. Prasert was charged with “concealing or selling goods known to have been illegally imported into the Kingdom without customs clearance.” Authorities seized 100 grams of Potassium Gold Cyanide and 192 other chemical items used for electroplating jewelry during the operation at a commercial building on Rama III Road in Bang Kho Laem, Bangkok. This operation follows the high-profile death of Udomsak Thongmuan, also known as "Dr. Keng," a 50-year-old public health academic at Bang Sakaeo Subdistrict Health Promoting Hospital. Dr. Keng tragically passed away after ingesting Potassium Gold Cyanide, which sparked public concern and highlighted the potential for such substances to be used with malicious intent or in copycat scenarios. In response to these concerns, the ECD intensified its efforts to track down and eliminate illegal imports of this chemical. The investigation revealed that some operators were smuggling Potassium Gold Cyanide into the country and selling it to jewelry plating shops without proper authorization. Prasert was identified as the caretaker of a commercial building where the illegal substances were stored. A subsequent search, authorized by the Southern Bangkok Criminal Court, uncovered two bottles of Potassium Gold Cyanide, each containing 100 grams. However, Prasert could only provide import documentation for one of the bottles. The bottle without proper import documentation was seized as evidence, and Prasert was taken into custody for further questioning. During the investigation, Prasert confessed that a portion of the Potassium Gold Cyanide had indeed been smuggled into the country illegally with the intent to resell it to gold plating or jewelry shops. He is now in the custody of the ECD’s Subdivision 2 investigators, facing legal action. The ECD’s crackdown is a clear message that the authorities are committed to preventing the illegal trade and misuse of hazardous chemicals, ensuring that public safety is upheld. -- 2024-09-01 Get the ASEAN NOW daily NEWSLETTER - Click HERE to subscribe
