I like to understand various  options available .  http://www.usairambulance.net/ has a number of alterantives from private ambulance Jet, stretcher on a commercial flight

to long distance ground transportation.

I received these indicative prices

1. Air Ambulance
2. Airline Medical Stretcher
3. Airline Medical Escort

From Thailand to Germany, stretcher service would be about $65,000 and escort service would be about $25,000.  Each service has its own medical and time limitations.

$100,000 to fly back for procedures. Wondering what kinds of procedures one would take this jet for instead of having it done in Thailand or India?  Not trying to be sarcastic, truly wondering in what cases would folks choose to do this?

Justified question!
- I like to explore all options
- might be that longer term care is required.
- perfect, unlimited health insurance including any outpatient expenses in my home country which is not available at my age abroad.
OTP expenses can easily ruin everything.

I admit, India has been on my mind too. Here or back home I would know where to go. But India? Would you know a source like this TV health forum where one could research qualifications of clinics, doctors? You wouldn't want to start looking for the right place when the need will be acute.

Those seem to be justifiable reasons.

Regarding India: I don't know of a forum but I've  read many posts on TV where folks are recommending specific doctors and hospitals in India. I agree, I wouldn't want to be researching it at the last moment, but there are people on TV that have some knowledge of the topic.

@Music--- al ear? -:)
Those people in the know about medical services in India would be a good starting point to accumulate and consolidate some general knowledge on this forum. It makes sense to have a sub forum here =

Though in your case if you have "perfect, unlimited" health coverage back home, it seems like you may as well go there instead of fuss with India? It might just be a little longer flight than India but once you're there you are set, right?

Hello Music,

just stumbled on your thread, bit of hesitation regarding India, its only 2 hours away at its nearest point (Calcutta)and Id stick to there, Chennai good destination too 3 hours away.   whatever you want investigating Google...'prostate Calcutta' for instance, observe the never ending list that appears, then home in on what suits you, email/skype them,...hotels taxis etc  are dirt cheap, look under TripAdvisor  for places to visit/stay, was under British Raj  everyone speaks English, go over speak to whoever   Once you are plugged into their system it takes complete control, not asked anything just constant flow of people at bedside

PS  Im ex-military too and can get free medivac through an organisation I'm in...but for me as long as sums are not gigantic Id stick to India
