NCPO clarifies on move to prevent commemoration of Khattiya’s death

Concerned officers used their own judgement in preventing the commemoration of late Maj-General Khattiya Sawasdipol, who was shot dead during the 2010 red-shirt demonstrations against the Abhisit government, Colonel Winthai Suvaree, spokesperson for the National Council for Peace and Order, said on Friday.

 

Winthai insisted that there was no attempt to thwart the family’s commemoration plan, but the event could be considered politically motivated.

 

The NCPO, he said, has been asking for cooperation from people in the interests of peace and order, and had received good support so far, he said.

The late Army officer’s daughter had made a post on Facebook about the prohibition, prompting a reaction from the NCPO.

If the family wanted to commemorate the late Maj-Gen, they could do so unhindered in the privacy of their home.

 

But since they apparently intended to make this into a public affair clearly showed political undertones and I think it was correct to prevent or prohibit the ceremony.

 

But.... what's the news on who actually assassinated the man? Have any arrests been made? It's been 7 years and nobody has been made responsible for the murder. And we all know why... with or without a public commemoration ceremony.

How generous of them and then throw in a little political hook for good measure. Yes and they must have many politically motivated illegal measures that they can come up with.
