New passport in December 2023. Went to Immigration in person FEB 2024 to do TM47. May 4 for next 90 day report. Tried to do online before MAY 1 as I have for several years past but got the same REJECTION notice. Will go to IMM tomorrow or FRI.

So this now seems a system problem. I thought maybe the problem was that the USofA now has a letter in the passport number and I thought maybe that was the screw-up that the system couldn't handle that.

Yes, there have been problems with this system for a few months. Many many people being rejected for no reason. So my last one took almost a full day including the travel, as opposed to the normal eight minutes it takes me to do online.

    Messed up.

For future reference, 1 of my bank accounts was opened at Krungsri in BKK.

I can make deposits, withdraws ( used 4 different Krungsri branches ) and got my bank card replaced,  when it was necessary 1 time in KORAT.

I am going on over 10 years Retirement Extension.

I too have had success having accounts in Bangkok and another one in Mukdahan with Krungsri. I've been quite happy with the bank too. About 4 years. Of course it's prudent to have at least 2 accounts. One with a small balance for ATM and purchases use and another with your main holdings (for visa extensions, etc)...that one I never use for purchases or ATM withdrawals.

Two questions, the answer to which might solve the issue:

#1 - Did you move the money to another bank-account that was also on your name? In that case, it would be a matter of having the Bank(s) make a Bank Statement for each of the 2 accounts, which combined would provide evidence that you did not went under the required +400K (except for the few seconds in cyber-space during the Bank transfer).

#2 - Do you have Thai dependant children? If so you could instead of applying for reason of marriage to a Thai national, apply for reason of dependant children and in that case the +400K does not require any seasoning but only needs to be available at the time of application.

Thank you very much Red. That was very helpful. Yes both accounts are in my name only and I had  probably well over 500,000 baht with both accounts combined at that moment. I will have the bank print statements for both accounts.

    Have a great night.

  4. Good evening all. I would like some thoughts on something, I have had over the required 400,000 baht in my bank account for over two months (before marriage extension renewal) but, one week ago when it was late at night and I was tired, I was moving money from one account to the other. I accidentally moved too much money out of 400,000 baht, bringing a little bit lower than the required 400,000 baht. I was stunned when I realised what I had done and I immediately put the money back in, bringing it back over 400,000 baht. So it can be seen on my statement that the account went below the required amount for less than one minute. I assume/hope that will not be a big issue. Your thoughts/experience? Thanks!

  5. I think I will be needing one in the next few years. My biggest concern is what impact a procedure may have on my sexual function. It would be good to know the experience of anyone here who had a procedure, including which procedure they had.

From what I’ve read, photoselective vaporization of the prostate (PVP) is the one with the least impact, though it is quite expensive.

Might be a bit late as you've already subscribed to Skype. You mentioned communicating with Europe. You will be aware that receiving SMS is a hurdle with VOIP services. Skype allows US numbers to receive SMS when sent from US or Canadian numbers only. I'm from UK and need to receive SMS mainly from UK but also from elsewhere. I found the solution is 'VYKE'. For $16 USD per annum you can rent a mobile 'phone number from a choice of 6 Countries (including USA). Calls to US are charged at 1.2 cents per minute, SMS 5 cents each. No charge to receive either voice calls or SMS.

Wow! Quite interesting. Thank you! I will look into that. I only paid for one month for Skype. Have a good holiday!

Here we will have a far too complicated solution, and probably not very reliable, as too many factors are used to make the calls.

Skype number: appox. 45 usd per year. (Checked Everglades, Florida)
Pay for unlimited calls land lines and mobiles US: 13 usd per month (Bonus, you get the whole world)
Only US unlimited 6 usd per month.

Countred per month you have 2 options:

World wide and number: approx: 17,5 usd per month (600 Thb)
Only US and number: approx: 10-11 usd per month. (400 Thb)

Holy Cow! How can that be too expensive? What limited budget are you living on, man?

I looked at Skype again. You are right! Not bad. Got the app. I signed up, got a US number, etc. All good now. Sure appreciate your help. Big thanks!!!

I struggled with this too - especially with the increased usage of 2-step-authentication a few years back.

For voice calling I signed up with  (localphone.com) for a local incoming USA phone number using an area code that is in my USA mailing address area. It costs $0.99 USD per month and calls to USA land or cell phones is $0.005 per minute.  The service just does not support incoming text very well. They have an iPhone app that does work for in/out calls. When I call people, they see my USA phone number and assume I am in the USA. For Europe calls, you could get another number - they just cost a bit more per month.

For 2-step-authentication, I ported my USA cell phone to Tossabledigits.com. I am on the "Lite Annual" plan for $40 USD. Calls or texts go to my email in seconds. Look them up for all the options.

So for less than $5 per month, I have - for the moment - removed this burden.

    Hope this helps...dw

    Thanks!

The instructions that you have referred to as "far too complicated" are only required to get the Google Voice (GV) app installed on his phone.  Those steps are required to get around Google's restrictions on installing the app while in Thailand.

Once that is done, making a GV phone call is almost identical to the regular actions for placing calls.

As for reliability, I have not had any problems placing or receiving calls for years now.

I followed the instructions, except I didn't turn on Airplane Mode. You cannot get online with Airplane mode on. I turned off my data service and location services and had my VPN set the the USA and the app store STILL knows I am in Thailand and the message says not available in your country.

Do you already have a Google Voice number?  That may be difficult to get from Thailand.

Try installing the app again after you disable "Location Services" on your iPhone, and also use WiFi only by enabling Airplane mode.  Also use the VPN as in your previous attempt.

    Remember to re-enable everything afterwards!

    Found in:
Settings -> Privacy & Security -> Location Services.

Calls to UK start at 1 US cent/minute for landlines and most mobile providers.  Some UK providers are much more expensive to call.  You will need to be able to deposit US$ to your Google account.

Thank you. I turned off everything on my iphone and had my VPN set the the USA and the app store STILL knows I am in Thailand and the message says not available in your country.

Try Google Voice. Works from every browser. Free number for the US. Just see that it doesn't work for you... I set it up more than 10 years ago in the US. Still works for me here in Thailand. Even free SMS inside US.

Thank you. I was getting excited after reading about it's features and functions, BUT...frustratingly you can only use the service when you are in the US or Canada. I just saw that notice on their website.

Thank you. The Google Voice app is not available for people in Thailand.

There are numerous apps like WhatsApp and Line that require both users to have an App installed to make free calls.

I use mytello which offers cheap calls to landlines and mobiles, with only the caller needing the app.

Calls to landlines or mobiles the US cost 0.4 Baht per minute.

Thank you. Yes, but actually I need to be able to call and receive calls and my number must be an American number. For dealing with verification, etc when dealing with banks, the government, etc.

For calls to other iPhones you could use FaceTime which is already installed on iPhones.

Other apps such as Signal, Telegram and WhatsApp and Skype will allow you to call others, providing they have the same app installed. Ideal for family and friends. Pretty sure you can buy a phone  number on Skype that will allow others to call you. Plus they sell subscriptions for call packages.

Thank you. Yes, normally I use Facetime and FB messaging to talk with friends and family all the time. I need an American number and calling/receiving especially for dealing with banks, the government agencies, etc. Additionally I am one of the unlucky ones whose Facebook account was suspended apparently after being hacked. I've appealed and I'm waiting for their decision. I think Skype would work for my needs but it is too expensive for me.

Thank you. Yes I use FaceTime a lot for calls to my friends and family that I need another number for official things like banking. Additionally I am one of the unlucky ones who apparently had my Facebook account suspended because someone hacked it. Waiting for their decision on reinstatement. I looked into Skype and I think it would meet my needs but I think I found that it was too expensive.

  15. Good morning all. Can someone recommend a good iPhone app that I can use for internet/wifi calling in Thailand to call America and Europe. I also need to acquire a virtual American phone number as the number used in the app. I used Talkatone here for many years which was great and all of a sudden it stopped working and when I tried to reinstall the app it says “not available in your country” (even when I’m using a VPN set to a US location). The same thing with Google voice!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  16. Good morning all. I am looking for recommendations for a good hair transplant clinic (or tips on ones to avoid) here in Thailand. I hope to have this procedure started in the next few months.

Online I seen many clinics offering this treatment. The Bangkok Hair Clinic seems to be the most prominent one. Of course I am concerned about quality and price. I would especially like to hear from people who’ve had personal experiences with one. Thank you in advance for any help.

  17. Good afternoon all. I would appreciate some help with something I am not sure about. In a few weeks I must apply for my new marriage visa extension This will be the first time I renewed it. My current visa expires on April 28.

After a few years my wife and I finally have a chance to take a much needed vacation. I am wondering if I submit everything at the local immigration office (Nakhon Phanom) on the April 18, will it be possible for us to travel for 35 days before returning. I just got lucky and found the resort where we want for a very good deal, so I want to try to reserve it quickly.

Thanks in advance for any help.

  18. The lack of English on the product pages when using the Lazada app drives up the wall. Every time I use it I say to myself, how can I expect to sell to people who don’t read Thai? I think that’s a lot of people.

Just as bad, is the fact that you cannot copy the Thai text and put it in a translator when using the app, unlike when you are using a web browser.

    Idiocy.
