    • Strange to leave a lot of gold lying around while showing prospective renters around the place.  Dumb as a rock!
    • Pictures courtesy of พัทยา จุดเกิดเหตุ    Police in Bang Lamung have arrested two Myanmar nationals accused of snatching a three-baht gold necklace from a woman after posing as prospective tenants. The operation, carried out on 10 December 2025 under the direction of Pol Col Sarawut Nuchanarot, led to the swift detention of the suspects and the recovery of multiple items linked to the case. Officers said the pair had shown signs of attempting to evade capture and posed an ongoing risk to the community.   The case began on 3 December 2025 when Mr Mying Aung reported that his mother had been robbed by two individuals pretending to enquire about renting a room at a property in Takhian Tia, Bang Lamung. The suspects allegedly seized the gold necklace weighing three baht before fleeing on a Honda motorcycle. CCTV footage later identified the motorcycle as a white Honda without a licence plate, which was later disguised with a red temporary plate, along with the suspects discarding a black jacket used during the crime.   Investigators traced the suspects to a rented room in Soi Thung Klom–Tan Man 27 in Nong Prue at around 15:00 on 10 December. Officers found a Myanmar man and woman inside, matching the individuals seen in the CCTV footage. Both were taken into custody and identified as 27-year-old Mr Maw Aung and 30-year-old Mrs Ma Su.   During questioning, the pair appeared shocked and attempted to avoid any knowledge of the incident, but eventually confessed to the crime. They guided officers to the gold items kept inside the room. Police recovered the white Honda with a red plate, a navy shirt worn during the robbery, one gold ring weighing one salung, two pairs of gold earrings, a receipt from a Yaowarat gold shop and new gold jewellery bought after selling the stolen necklace for 167,000 baht.   According to their statement, the suspects claimed they committed the robbery because they were unemployed and supporting four children. They said they planned the operation by posing as potential tenants, snatching the necklace and selling it before purchasing replacement jewellery. Further checks revealed both suspects were overstaying in Thailand with expired passports and were residing in the country without permission.   Police have charged the pair with two offences: joint theft using a vehicle and being foreign nationals staying in the kingdom without authorisation. They have been handed over to investigators at Bang Lamung Police Station along with the seized evidence, as police investigate what further crimes the pair have committed.       Key Takeaways   • Police arrested two Myanmar nationals on 10 December 2025 after a gold-snatching robbery in Bang Lamung. • The suspects confessed and led officers to stolen and newly purchased gold items worth 167,000 baht. • Both face charges of joint theft using a vehicle and unlawful stay in Thailand.   Related Stories   Thief-tricks-helper-steals-motorcycle-and-phone-in-Pattaya   CCTV-footage-captures-foreign-man-stealing-in-Phuket      Adapted by Asean Now from พัทยา จุดเกิดเหตุ 2025-12-11

    • Picture courtesy of เก็บข่าวพัทยา   A 60-year-old Russian woman was injured at Bali Hai Pier in Pattaya at 12.00 on 10 December 2025 after being crushed between a passenger boat and the pier rail while attempting to disembark. Rescue teams from the Sawang Boriboon Foundation rushed to the scene following reports that a foreign tourist had suffered a severe laceration and required urgent assistance. The victim received immediate first aid before being transported to Pattaya Memorial Hospital.   The incident occurred as the woman was returning with her family on a ferry from Koh Larn to the South Pattaya side of Bali Hai Pier. Witnesses reported that strong winds and waves caused the vessel to sway continuously as it approached the docking area, complicating safe disembarkation. As the boat shifted, the tourist attempted to step onto the pier but misjudged the movement and slipped along the boat’s edge.   During the fall, the boat lurched again and forcefully pinned her against the pier rail, causing the extensive wound described by rescue personnel. Eyewitness accounts confirmed that the weather conditions contributed significantly to the vessel’s instability at the moment of docking. The rescue unit noted that quick intervention was required due to the size and severity of the laceration.   Local maritime operators have previously cautioned passengers about increased risks during days of high wind and waves, which can make docking manoeuvres unpredictable. The latest incident may intensify calls for stricter safety procedures during adverse conditions, particularly at high-traffic piers such as Bali Hai. Officials have not yet issued a statement on whether additional safety reviews will be undertaken.   Authorities are expected to examine the circumstances surrounding the docking process and assess whether further guidance is needed for ferry operators during turbulent weather. Medical staff at Pattaya Memorial Hospital will determine the next steps in the tourist’s treatment as her condition is monitored.     Key Takeaways   • A 60-year-old Russian tourist was injured after being crushed between a ferry and pier rail at Bali Hai Pier. • Strong winds and waves caused the boat to sway during docking, contributing to the incident. • Authorities may review safety procedures for ferry operations in adverse weather conditions.      Adapted by Asean Now from เก็บข่าวพัทยา 2025-12-11
