  1. My wife and I are relocating to CM in August 2009 I wish to travel in Thailand and nabouring countries on a motor bike. Is the Garmin Zumo 400 series available in Thailand. If it is what price and is it supplied with a SD card with maps of Thailand

Hi Sqatter, I bought my Zumo 550 in Europe several years ago fot 550 euro. I can use him on my BMW R1200C Motorcycle in Europe and here in Thailand, for this I bought a SD Card look for details http://www.isystem.co.th

If you buy the Zumo here, than you get the USA Card inside. best is to buy in Europe.

I use it here many years with GREAT pleasure. Even the smallest road is to find. I use Google Earth to find locations and transport the coordinates in my Zumo. An update costs about 500 baht in MBK Bkk

All Hotels and petrol stations are yo find, really SUPER.

    Good luck

  2. Hi there,

I'm planning to make a trip trough Thailand with my BMW Motorcycle.

I'm bussy to make a planing with my Garmin Zumo 550 and MapSource.

For this I need the BEST ROADMAP THERE IS.........

Who can give me advise what the best map is with all the road number on it.

    Thanks

    Wim

    Hi Wim,

Michelin puts out a road atlas of Thailand that is the most detailed road information of Thailand I've ever seen. I actually was in the map industry for three years. It's a good product. Google Michelin Maps and you should find it on their site.

Have fun on the moto-tour, sounds like it will be the trip of a lifetime.

    Cheers,

    HB

Thanks HB for the tip. I just bought the atlas from Amazaon.com. We will see .

  6. guys....

just to say they processed my second 90 days of my 1 year "retirement" visa yesterday with no problems.

However, I was reminded that I should have my show money in the Thai bank at least 3 months before applying for the annual extension.

I was told I do not need need to show this transaction when I return for my third 90 days, this is only required for the annual extension, but the show money should remain untouched.

    >>>>>okay, I understand, but do they still need a paper from the Bank that the money is sent in from abroad ???

  8. George wrote a lot of true stuff here

Well, what the hel_l! LOS makes it very easy to stay, just stick to the rules.

I had a company here and my proper work permit, and I was paying taxes. Now I am retired, and I got my proper retirement visa. Where is the problem? If anyone wants to stay here, (s)he should read the rules and decide if (s)he can accept it. If not, (s)he should stay where (s)he is. You always have the option to spend your holidays here.

    Thank you for your attention,

a happy guy from Phuket, who got no visa problems.

    Fully agree

  9. a gun would certainly be of good help, but unfortunately it is illegal to possess it, let alone use it.

Not true, Thais can own guns. If it's in your wife's name it's reasonable for you to have access to it and use it for self defence if someone intrudes into your home. We have two 9mm pistols and a 12 gauge shotgun, licensed and legal.

In addition I'd rather deal with the legal ramnifications of having shot a burglar than have my wife deal with getting my body shipped back to my home country.

I agree with that but the repercussions could be you doing time. Not such a nice prospect.

am i the only one who thinks the wife had him killed?

No, I think you are right

  10. Hi there, I'm looking for the best option for an ADSL connection in my Grand Condotel Condo

At the moment I have a phone line provided by TOT, but I always can change

What is the best option for me??

    Thanks

    Wim

  11. [

    I have got one.....

I bought it for (1) golf rights (2) Thai air benefits (3) airport service. I am a permanent resident so the visa is not a particularly big deal.

Would I buy one now, if I hadnt already got on. No.

My assumption when I bought it was that there was a high degree of political will behind it - esentially that while Thaksin was around the card program would be valid. I am not sure that is the case anymore.

(And before any comments. Yes, I do have more money than sense)

    PM me if you wish.

Hi there, I also want to buy the Card. Pls can you tell me yr experience with Thai Air benefits and also the Airport Service ??

    thanks

    [email protected]

  12. First I want to tell you I red all the stories about the CARD

Secondly I'm not stupid and plenty of cash

Okay...I'm 58 and want to stay the next 30 years in Thailand.

When I ask for a retirement visa, I need 800.000 permanent on the bank with little interest. This is there as long I stay in Thailand

Better to pay one million baht to Mr. Thaksin and get such a nice card with all the benefits such as 5 year visa, transport to airport etc etc

These 800.000 I loose anyway, so the best option is to buy The CARD

    Somebody agree with me ???

  13. Ministerial Regulation

    Number 14 (B.E. 2535)

Issued in accordance with the Immigration Act B.E. 2522

Diseases in accordance with article 44 (2) are:

    (1) Leprosy

    (2) Dangerous step of Tuberculosis (T.B.)

    (3) Filariasis

    (4) Drug addiction

    (5) Alcoholism

    (6) Third step of Syphilis

    Given on 20th February B.E. 2535

    General Issaraphong Nunphakdee

Minister of the Ministry of Interior

Note: The reason for issuing this Ministerial Regulation is that at present, the situation concerning AIDS has changed immensely. Prevention of infected aliens or those who are HIV positive into or to reside in the Kingdom has no effect on the spread of this disease within the nation. Thus, AIDS should not be set as a disease for prohibiting aliens infected with such disease to travel into or to reside in the Kingdom as in accordance with the articles 12 (4) and 44 (2) of the Immigration Act B.E. 2522.

Lukamar, thanks for the reponse, clear to me now
