  2. We have been told that price will go down from next week because we enter a period where thai eat little pig meat. We try to sell but all our contact has lower there price already. Guys, what do you think? Will pig price go down? Or will it just be a balance bet-wine buyer and seller?

hi,i am in Surin .we were getting 80 baht last week, but this week 3 sharks offered 76 baht, the price drops this time every year and will drop more i think

..2 years ago it dropped to 44 baht during khao pan sar :-(

I am really interested to see what happens over the next couple of months. I have read about this "Lent" in previous posts, I have seen the historical data which does not conclusively support this. Yes in 2012 there was a massive drop and it was quite sustained but the ups and downs in other years over the last 5 years does not truly correlate. This year we have already gone against previous trends and the last Pigg333 pricing for Thailand shows farm gate at 87 baht as of 13 June 2014. At this historical high I would expect a softening in price anyway.

I have spoken to many Thais here about this drop in Pork consumption (some involved in Swine and many who are not). They ALL gave me a confused look and stated that they would not be changing their consumption. The Poo Yai Ban, who is also involved in the Swine industry, also shook his head and said no there will be no big drop in farm gate price. When I told them I had read this on the internet they just laughed.

Will be keeping a close eye on it.

pigs 333 are always way over the mark 87 baht .i used to look at swine Thailand site, which was very slow to update..now i use CPF feed marketing (cp) they have not been over 82 baht/ kilo this year.piglets 2600 baht, this is updated every Monday...this dos not mean you get there price, but a rough guide,,,while they were 82 baht last week i could get 80 from the sharks, they are still at 82 this week but can now get 76,prices change from province to province.with the supply,,our farm is in Surin, but we have 1 shark that travels from Si-Saket and will pay a couple of baht more when they are short.back to my beer

    cheers all Ian

  6. i live in the village, the mob swelled to a couple of thousand late in the afternoon, then most left after (Jason the dad) spoke to the crowd in Thai to please leave ,so he and his wife could go to the temple ,the roads were blocked with people ,bikes and cars.,the re -construction was done about 10 -11 in the evening, the crowd swelled again,as reporters and some police spread the word at the temple where my wife was,all cleared about 2- 3 am ,Jason so sorry to here what has happened,we know each other slightly from village meetings and said hello a few times in passing.....Ian 163 soi 6 if you want a chat or anything i can do to for you .

  7. They were telling you that you most likely had PRRS

You need to vaccinate you entire swine herd immediately or face major loss of your herd.

If you cannot find vaccine contact BACO - contact information posted on www.BioTechAgriBusiness.com

thanks for the advice CMPF,but they (surin techno) are saying its not PRRS,or i would have lost a lot more.than the boar,.but you have opened my eyes (the wife)and will start to work on a vaccination programme,as soon as i can ,looks like i will have to build new pens to do this, and cash is very short. thanks again

  9. strange day today, not at the farm myself.. 1 sow gave birth to 10 stillborn and 11 piglets that are fine, and they are all of good size.,the most piglets we have had from a sow before is 16 ,i wonder what the reason is for the still attachicon.gif003.JPGattachicon.gif003.JPGborns,any ideas

    cheers Ian

how big were the still borns, all the same or different sizes? maybe not enough room in the womb? were the still born the last out? if so they got stuck. 21 a very good number, the most we have out alive is 23, but at least 3 or 4 of these would be very small say 1 kg at birth. litters of these sizes are few and far between....

the still borns were a good size ,1 alive 2 dead 3 alive 2 dead and so on,so i think it must have been suffication.

    cheers Ian
