I'm looking for some clarification on the issue of obtaining a new visa (renewing a Non O visa based on being the father of a Thai child) after filing divorce. I've been in Thailand for over 10 years now, and have been married. I was on a Non O for a Thai spouse up until last year, when I changed to Non O for a Thai child, due to some complications with the income docs. My son is Thai/American.
My wife and I recently seperated, and are preparing to file the divorce paperwork. There seems to be conflicting information about weather or not it's possible for me to get this same visa, with all the same requirements, after the divorce has been filed. IE, no marriage certificate, etc. She's still living here, so our son is spending part of the time living with her, and part of the time living with me.
Does anyone have experience with this? Is it possible to apply for it here in Bangkok, or do I need to leave the country to apply for it. My son is enrolled in an international school, and I'm paying the tuition. The school will issue the certificate, as they did last year. the only difference is that I won't be married when I apply for it this year.
Thanks for your help!

I'll punt on that one. If I were you I would switch to the proscribed method ASAP. Good luck.
Thanks ????

You're supposed to show 12 monthly international transfers from abroad into a Thai bank account with no transfer under 65K per month. First year, partial year will be OK. Shown with records from the Thai bank. Does that answer your question?
Yes, I'm aware of what the requirement is. But obviously nobody knew this change was coming with them doing away with the embassy letters, otherwise I would have been transferring the money monthly to jump through the hoop. The question is if anyone has experience with them making an exception if it's not a transfer, but cash deposits.

If you're asking if you can do an income application without embassy letter that way, I think the answer is definitely no. They don't want to see you've freakin' atm slips.

I can show the cash deposits on my bank statements for the past 12 months (no atm slips needed ????????????). The question is if that's going to work instead of showing (overseas) bank to (local) bank transfers.

What if the money isn't transferred into the Thai bank account? Citibank penalizes me about 1 Baht per dollar for transferring, but if I withdraw cash at the Citibank ATM here in Bangkok, I get the current exchange rate. Thus, I have been withdrawing in cash instead of transferring every month, of course, not knowing that anything was going to change with the requirements. Has anyone had experience with this?

Police inspect the duu yen for more suspects.
And it was good of them to take their shoes off before entering the room ;-)

That's great news. Thanks for the advice. We're not going through the court, we're just planning on filing at the Amphur. I should be able to get the Kor Ror 6 issued there then it sounds like, stating joint custody, correct?
