  1. This is just a quick question my wife who is Thai wants her daughters to come to UK for a visit round about Feb next year . That is no problem , but my wife has suddenly got paranoid that because her current visa runs out in April that her daughters would have there visa applications rejected . I think it won't affect their applications but could someone please give me a definitive answer .

        Thanks in advance

  2. The only contact we have had with the home office since she reported it lost was a generic email explaining that my wife has 3 months to apply for a new one . I have searched online and there does not seem to be a phone number in which we can contact anyone to explain the situation .

We are holding off till monday to report the passports missing as royal mail has launched an investigation into where they are . Only doing this in the hope they might turn up and make the situation a bit easier . Getting a replacement passport means traveling from Scotland to London

  3. Thanks for the reply .

Yes it's turning into a real headache for us . Looks like we will be taking the solicitor to the legal obmbudsman as they're not taking reponsibility for the loss . We need to wait eight weeks to do that and my wife only has three months to get all this sorted unfortunately .

Things can only get better though

  4. Hi my wife requires a replacement BRP because our solicitor lost it as well as both our passports . So the question i have can my wife get a replacement BRP with an old expired passport or does she need to get a new passport first . Secondly the BRP has been reported as lost but we are due to move address at the end of the month does she send away change of address before or after she gets new BRP . We are both in the uk , my wife is Thai .

If anyone can help , thanks in advance

  5. Got reply to the complaint i sent

Thank you for your recent letter and we are sorry to hear that you were unable to take your Test.

We can confirm that is it the responsibility of the Candidate to ensure that the details they enter at the point of registering to take a Test, are correct. It is also the Candidate’s responsibility to ensure that they arrive at the Test Centre with the ID with which they registered, together with acceptable postcode evidence.

A requirement to verbally confirm all personal details contained on the candidates ID, (including postcode) forms part of the security checking process to allow candidates to take their Life in the UK Test.

We are afraid that we are unable to offer a refund on this occasion. Please note that this decision has been reached in agreement with the Home Office, it is final and we will be unable to correspond with you any further in relation to this matter

  6. Hi

I'm in the UK with my Thai wife . She want's to pass the life in uk test , she studied and i booked the test for her . I made sure she had all the relevent documentation with her , passport , biometric permit , council tax bill with her name on it for proof of post code and a letter from home office with name and address .

So we set off this morning to the test center which is an hour away on the train . We get there and all seems fine , i'm told to leave the building as there is now where for me to wait . I find a cafe across the road and the next thing my wife turns up with a face like thunder . She was not allowed to take the test because she could not verbally confirm our postcode , she had forgotten it .

What i'm not understanding is there is no mention of verbal confirmation on the website only proof of postcode i.e. utility bill .

Have she got grounds for a complaint or does she just need to suck it up . It seems a bit harsh to me not to mention the waste of time and money .

    Thanks

  7. I'm pretty sure i filled in the form on behalf of my wife when she first came to the Uk for a holiday . I supplied bank statements , payslips , details of skype calls , photos / proof of relationship , sponsor letter ect . The most important piece of information that you need is reason to return for her , letter from her employer saying she's got a job to go back too ( that sort of thing )

A three month holiday might be a bit long for first application though

  8. Good Morning

My wife and I are going back to Thailand for a holiday in July , and she has decided she wants to change her first name . My qusetion is what sort of problems will this cause when arriving back in the UK because her biometric visa will state her original name . She will also be re-newing her passport when we are in Thailand .

I would also like to know if anyone knows how resolve any problems that this is bound to create .

    Thanks in advance

  9. My wife is about to apply for further leave to remain in the uk. She entered the UK on a marriage visa and we are now married.

I was looking at her passport and i noticed it expires on 29th aug 2015 , will this cause a problem with the visa application and if it does what are we supposed to do.

    I'm a little concerned.

Thanks in advance for any answers.
