1. The easiest and safest way is to keep a very low profile so the Boys in Brown doesn't catch you *before* you check in at Don Muang or exit at any border.

You must first plan for a trip abroad. You might also want to apply for a new passport while away.

The overstay fee is 200 Baht/day, up to a maximum of 20,000 Baht. It can never be more.

Just have the 20,000 in cash ready to pay at the Immigration counter at the airport or border when you leave, and don't argue with them - just smile and pay.

They have a special overstay office inside where you will just sign a couple of forms and get stamped with an overstay stamp.

That's it! No problems! You will not be blacklisted nor deported.

Do *not* visit the Immigration Bureau to clear the overstay, beacuse then they will fine you and jail you up in IDC, Immigration Detention center before deportation. You will be jailed until you can show a one-way return ticket to your home country, pay the 20,000 Baht in fine, plus taxifare to the airport.

It can be hard to get a new visa to Thailand with that Bad Boy Stamp in your passport, so better change it to a new one before entering the Kingdom again.

Hey Wow, thanks a lot uncle fester, that sets my mind right at ease. Now with that info, unlike the scaremongering info I've read here before, I can overstay to my hearts delight w/o worry. 1 year, 2, 3 whatever. your the best, festation. Why can't others in this forum give straight forward info like yourself?

  2. My wife always told me if you ever get in an accident leave the scene immediately if you are able. If you get caught later it's not kike leaving the scene here in the US.

You don't get in any additional trouble? :o

I don't know about Thailand but I can relate a story that happened to me in Cuba. I made a lane change and got plowed by a van moving quickly. In Mexico this would be my fault for changing lanes cause they cant prove how fast the driver was going. I had a knee jerk reaction to flee the scene, so I did. The guy in the other car chased me down as I tried to flee. He caught up with me, opened my door and put his foot on the break as I continued to try to flee. Finally I gave up when I saw a guy in a coplike uniform come over to help. Now mind you I am driving a rented car with a $300 deposit with extensive damage to my car as well as the van I collided with. I might add that my car was a brand spanking new Chrysler Neon. I was terrified to say the least. Here I am a kilo from accident sight, having fled scene. Long story short, I went to police station, spent day, got drunk test, and allowed to leave 7 hours later unsure of consequences upon returning car. My legal situation was done as they let me go. I said the guy was speeding. I got off hook somehow. It was amazing, but I still had nightmare of returning smashed car to rental agency and worrying if I was liable for van a week later when I turned in car. Went to destination, Camaguey, with smashed fender on new car and paint chipped away. I asked around and found a guy with a rubber hammer who banged out my dent for $13. took him an hour but more red paint chipped off. huge prob, fender looks 60% passable but no matching red paint anywhere. day before depart, my g/f breaks out a shoebox of nail polish and gets to work. looks like ###### but covers bare metal. I return car at night, thank god, and passes a once over by inspectors who I joke with in my native spanish. that was the luckiest experience of my life. i thought of it as i read post about fleeing scene. got $300 deposit back and never heard another word. incredible

  3. My fiancee is often wearing skirt. She is from a conservative and well educated middle class family in Bangkok. I think it is quite normal for a younger educated cute woman.

Linking skirts to level of education?? Now that's funny.

    /SM

They do that in cuba too. I love it

  4. If you apply for a Non Imm O Visa, will the guarantor (i.e friends to be visited) be asked to prove that they have the means to cover any cost incurred by the applicant ?

  6. Hi!

I'm using a Tourist Visa Double entries and would like to know if when I will have to use the second entry, if I need a re-enter permit!

If I'm right, the re-enter permit is only if I wanna leave and come in back during my visa!

Also, I would like to know if it,s true that if we stay in Thailand for 6 months as tourist, we have to leave the country for a period of 6 months?

I know that it's happening sometimes that if we have too many 30 days entry stamps that after 6, it's the end but is it the same thing if we stay in the country with a Tourist visa double entries that gives a stay of 6 months if we use the 30 extensions for each entry?

Can someone confirm with Me that 6 months of stay is the maximum now?

    Thanks guys!

    Gazoo

Each of those tourist visa's can be extended by 30 days in Thailand. After that first 90 days you need to cross a border, return and you will be granted a 60 day stay, again extendable if you wish. This will be fine for you.

Dr Ping pong, you seem to know a lot. Where can I get a 6 month tourist visa in mexico?

  7. These days many photographs are digital, but some officials have not caught up with the modern world.

The photo I use for visa applications is the same as the one on my company id badge, and was taken with a digital camera.

I print them off on photo paper on my colour printer.

The paper has a special coating for photos, but is NOT glossy as many shop photos are.

The Indian embassy in Bangkok tried to tell me this was not a real photo!!

My local immigration officer in Sri Racha looked at it with doubt, but the the more experienced officer told her, "No, that is quite alright, as long as it is a good likeness."

Have you had any similar experiences?

I always buy fotos from a foto shawp so i never have a problem getting visas to Cooba or other countries eye go

  8. Hi,

I am writing in respose to the issue of using an agent to hold/keep your passport.

I am wrting from the Malaysian side and in good faith.

In Malaysia, we have been warned by the Government, time and time again,

never, never hand our passports to a third party or to anyone at all.

The only exception to the rule is this. Unless the Tour Agency, which is

registered with the Government, may do so, and an offical acknowledgement is given.

The reason is as follows :

There are many 'fly by night' agencies...... they can close and disappear over night.

Malaysia is world class in counterfeiting credit cards, Malaysian Indentity Cards,

Driving Licence, pay for TV Cards and so on. Every now and then these counterfeit cards surfaced and

some of the crimminals were arrested. The quality of the fraudulent cards even look better

than the originals. It takes an expert to detect the counterfeits.

Therefore, issuing you a visa stamp is 'chicken feed'. That is a risk you have to take.

Have a pleasant trip. Sawatdi krap !

I know that in Malaisia they found copies of Guillermo Gates' Longhorn para ventanas (windows) for sale last year. This says something about counterfeiting in that country. I wouldn't give mi pasaporte to them dudes
