Not sure what you are referring to.

Indeed some offices want to see "activity in the account".

To me thats referring to deposit/withdrawal on day of application?

Edit: think I misunderstood your post. Do you mean that immigration wanted to see all you bank statements as some months in bank book had no activity.

Your  second reading is correct; I needed to supply monthly bank statements for the previous year to show that the account was active. My bank was unwilling to issue most of these as I had only had 4 entries in the whole year and the account was in excess of 400K. When I was in the bank I actually called my contact at Immigration and had her talk directly to the bank to confirm. I was told that they want to see the account used even if it is only 100 - 500 baht every month. Who am I to argue when I want my visa extended, right?

Spot on. You SHOULD ONLY withdraw money AFTER the Under Consideration Period (which once lasted (for us) 45 days.

Best (if Possible) keep the money in a dedicated account (FD (fixed Deposit) or a Savings Account without an ATM card, why the WITHOUT ATM Card, so you don't by accident withdraw money from the account and the balance then could fall under the 400k. (happened to many people)

That was true for me for my 2021 renewal but when I renewed in November 2022 the Immigration wanted to see activity in the account and I had to ask my bank to provide additional monthly statements which they did not want to do.

  3. The farmers committing suicide comments do not stand up, there will be a load of farmers in the UK topping themselves when they lose their EC grants or cant get cheap labour from Eastern Europe to work in the fields......... will all the 17million or so people who voted for Brexit be responsible for their deaths? Answer: no. Therefore Yingluck is not responsible for the suicides of Thai rice farmers.

Re Yingluck having a British Passport, it is probable that she would have the sympathetic contacts within the British government to ensure fast tracking

The facts were that it flooded so bad because of mismanagement of Dam water level. water retention level at Dams were still below minimum water retention level in June. It was still at safe level when Yingluck took office, but they mismanaged because they held off releasing water so farmers can bring in an extra crop to benefit from the Rice Scheme. The mismanagement of dam water level was why it flooded so bad.

What a load of crap: please refer to this link http://www.kromchol.com/array/BDam.htm year 2554 the red line: the levels of the Bhumibol dam were abnormal from March, and rose at a higher rate than normal until early October when the level was 100%. The Sirikit dam levels were similar with a surge in late June. When Yingluck took office the damage had already been done; the levels were over 90%, normally in August they are between 40 and 50

The Governor of Bangkok did do everything to protect Bangkok to the expense of the rest of the country, my house in Pathumthani was under 1.5 meters of water for 6 weeks, without his intervention this flood would have cleared in 3 or 4 days

  5. The public were very interested in the case of miss Ayuttaya who killed 9 when too young to even have a driving license a few years ago. She has yet to complete her harsh sentence of community service at uncles hospital, so I don;t think public interest has any bearing on these hi so killer cases.

There is another HiSo case that seems to be completely forgotten, what happened in the case of the Lao girl that was sliced in 2 in Pathumthani by a student who "borrowed" his father's new Porsche? Must be 5 or so years back now

  6. More info on this EU/EEA family route please.

Can I simply live in EU country without working & for how long?

How long would my wife have to stay there before applying for UK visa. Sounds too simple.

What happens once in UK? What if she leaves UK for holiday / visit Thailand?

I am a Brit and have been married to a Thai for 15 years, we have 3 children, we met in Singapore and we lived in Thailand since 2001. In March I started a new job in Germany, I was offered the job in September last year and we made an initial visit in November to ensure that my wife would be able to settle in.

I had some telephone conversations with the German Embassy about procedures and they were extremely helpful. My wife's Visitor visa was processed in 1 day, with no appointment and was free as I was an EC citizen.

We planned for the family to arrive 2 months after I moved to Germany, So once I had my employment contract, house registration, medical insurance, booked flights and importantly my first pay slip they were sent to my wife who went again to German Embassy and again it was dealt with efficiently and she was issued a 90 day visa within the day FREE.

I returned to Thailand at the end of April and the family flew to Germany the following week.

2 months later we went armed with form filled, all required docs and pay slips etc to the local immigration office and 3 weeks later my wife received her resident permit valued for 5 years.... Very friendly, very fast, very efficient and no awkward questions like we have experienced with the British Application

I want to take the family to visit my mother in the UK in October so I sent an email to the local embassy asking for the procedure for my wife's visa and received a mail back stating "we don't deal with questions about Visa application"..............

Why not, it is the Embassy, its their job!

  7. Greetings and Happy New Year to everyone

Our move to Germany is planned for me at the end of February with the family following mid April so we are making progress; we know how to deal with the wife's visa, the house in Germany is sorted, the kids have a good German tutor and now we have another question.

My company is going to pay for a 20ft container for the shipping of personal effects, can anyone advise me on which companies and a contact and how much a container costs as my company's regular forwarder state they can't deal with personal shipping

    Thanks

  8. 2 arrest warrants and the old fool is still out there gearing up the remaining "protestors" for further assaults on gov buildings etc.

Lighting the fuse to further violence and disruption. Most, all? other countries he would either already be in custody or more likely no longer around to cause the problems.

The gov should have the balls to carry out the warrants on him and his senior cronies and then deal peacefully with the remaining headless protestors.

2 arrest warrants, thats nothing. His outspoken mate Sondhi has been sentenced to over 20 years and hes still doing TV appearances (admittedly hes been off air since the trouble started...does not want to be seen breaking the conditions of his bail)

The authorities didn't even take away Sondhi's passport as he was seen being given the VIP treatment at BKK passport control a short while back

  9. I have a complication caused by the fact that although I am a British citizen my income was coming from the US. I took all the Transfer details for the last 6 months along with copies of my SCB bank books; the embassy issued a letter confiming the figures in USD and Thai Baht. There has been no problem and now all the Immigration Officer wants to see is that letter.

  10. The background;

I am a Brit married to a Thai, we met in Singapore in 1997 and married there in 1999 and moved to Thailand in 2001. We have 3 boys and they are dual nationality. I have recently secured a position in company based near Frankfurt and I will be moving to Germany at the end of February with the family planning to join me in mid April.

In September the boss of the company arranged a doc for me to take to the German Embassy for my wife to get a visitor visa so she could see Germany and what she was letting herself in for. She was treated extremely well at the embassy(and with a far greater respect than she has experienced with the UK Visa office on the 4 times she has applied) and received her visa by EMS within 24 hours.

She picks up languages easily, speaking 5 fluently and knows that she needs a grounding in German to help settle easily. So she visits a language school and they tell her that she needs to have passed an A1 German language test otherwise the embassy wont issue her with a family visa.

I called my new boss who checked with the authorities and was informed that as I am not a German national my wife is exempt from this ruling and I have to go to the local council office with my pay check, bank statement, house rent agreement and contract of employment and they will issue a “formal obligation” and this is to be presented to the embassy and her visa will be issued within 14 days.

Which of these statements is correct?

  11. Try the book store! Do you really need a live teacher to teach them conversational level German? I assume they are comfortable enough in English already?

Also, congrats on diversifying your children's life beyond Thailand, which although I love Thailand, I think is a good thing.

Thanks for that; my wife found a load of books in Future Park and has started studying; but my 2 oldest boys are 10 and 13. They attend a bilingual school in Rangsit are fluent in English but I need them to integrate into the German schools as quickly as possible. My youngest is 3 so its not a real issue. I will be making the move at the end of February and the family will follow about 6 weeks later.

Yes, there is time for intensive language training when they get there as the German school year starts in September, but its best to get some grounding.

I did consider the Goethe institute but the distance and time involved getting to the city is a problem.

Ideally we are looking for a German who is teaching in the English programme at a local bilingual school when is willing to spend a few hours a week tutoring

    Thanks

  12. First, sorry can't find an education forum so................

I am currently living in Rangsit Khlong Sam with my family but will be moving to Germany in March of next year, I am looking for a tutor for my wife and kids to teach them at least the basics of the language but can't find anyone around here. Can anyone offer me some advice please

    Thanks in advance

  13. Esri Flood Map

    http://203.150.230.27/FloodMap/

Is this actually working in real time now as the flooded area looks identical to last October when for some reason they stopped updating. The reason I am suspicious is that it shows a massive flood area around Chumsaeng about 40km NE of Nakhon Sawan that was not flooded when we were there 3 days ago
