Yesterday my Thai wife and I went to Korat Immigration to file my application for extension of stay based on marriage. We were prepared with all the forms filled out, photos and my non-immigant "O" visa. After waiting for 3 hours, it was our turn and in short order the immigration officer told us that I still have 68 days left on my "O" visa and I need to return when there is 45 days left and then apply. Has anyone else had this experience? I thought I knew all the requirements, guess not!

I've been married to a Thai lady for almost 4 years and we think it's time I get an extension of stay for marriage. I work offshore and leave Thailand several times during the year and my income is from outside Thailand, will I be required to pay income tax in Thailand? Presently I am tax exempt from my home country? Also, any issues leaving the country so often? I thank you for any information that can be passed on to me.
