  1. 1. Thaksin is born in Thailand, so he's entitled to a Thai passport, just like every other Thai citizen.

    You call this a fact?

Criteria for being entitled to a passport goes further than simply being born in Thailand. It's not a right, and people can and are refused being granted one, and that goes not just for Thailand, but pretty much every country out there that i know of.

    Source?

  2. Some farangs here are apparently unaware of the following 2 facts:

    1. Thaksin is born in Thailand, so he's entitled to a Thai passport, just like every other Thai citizen.

    2. Puea Thai is the government, not the Democrats. They can issue a passport to whoever they want.

Are you really that familiar with the Thai laws about passports? I reckon most countries do NOT issue passports to their criminal fugitives. Are you so certain Thailand typically does? Not a matter of which party is in power now, but a matter of the LAW.

If it's illegal to grant Thaksin a passport, I don't think the Democrats will waste any time lodging a complaint with the courts. I assume that Puea Thai checked the laws before issuing him a passport.

You have more faith in the current regime than many of us. That's your option to be totally biased.

Not only my opinion is biased, everyone's is. An opinion is always your personal view, so therefor it's biased ;)

  4. 48% is not a majority. But even it it was "round up all the people that oppose" doesn't sound like democracy to me. Should they grab any Jews, homosexuals, or gypsies as well?

The currently elected govt received over 53% of the vote. PTP 48%.

That may be the case, but the people that voted for PTP's coalition partners did not vote for PTP's policies.

Seems you have very little knowledge of Thai politics. Everyone that voted for Chart Thai Pattana and Puea Pandin knew that:

    1. These small parties have no chance of winning themselves.

    2. These small parties are pro-Puea Thai.

Everyone in Thailand knows that there's either Puea Thai or the Democrats that are able to form a government. Please don't hint that Thai people are stupid. They're not.

  5. I am just a layman but isn't the fact that black uniformed AK47 armed in the crowd have something to do with it ?.

From photos I've seen in several newspapers, there were guys wearing all black and hoods with rifles running together with the army. The Japanese journalist probably catched them on camera and was therefor shot.

Even monks were abused by the army. If monks were treated this way, imagine how the ordinary citizen was treated.

  6. Get real!

Dems tried to back off Bhum Jai too, but didn't have the leverage at the time.

This is only revenge, if he was serious he'd go after his own partners.and THAT will never happen.

Ahh, so now you are claiming that the Democrats and the former PM Abhisit were forced to include the BJT in their administration. That's nice, but no one forced PM Abhisit to include the BJT. The current government also had to build a coalition, yet the government either by sheer luck or some political smarts did not include what is now a massive liability. Had the BJT party been included in the current government, I believe you and the usual gang of PTP bashers whould have been screaming about corruption and blaming PM Yingluck for activities that appear to have occurred during the previous military junta administration and that carried on into the Democrat administration.

I am not accusing PM Abhisit for the alleged corruption, but it is obvious, that the gentleman's political accuity was not very good. it seelms the former PM's lquest for power power and political opportunism has come back to bite him in his buttocks.

Please note that Deputy PM Chalerm is not implicated in the corruption, nor are the PTP's own partners. The allegations rest in he little corner of the political landscape that have BJT, Democrat and military junta territorial markers.

    "LIKE" :lol:

Slowly but surely the corruption of the Democrats & Bhumjaithai of the past few years in power is starting to become visible.

Won't be long now and we'll have the first corruption trials of Democrat & Bhumjaithai politicians.

  7. How stupid foreigners can be. I'd like to see Hillary Clinton do a speech in Thai language and then we'll see if she spells more than 1 word wrong. Yingluck is the PM of Thailand, not of the United States. The language that she has to speak is Thai, not English. There are plenty of heads of state that speak in their native language and use translators to translate the speeches in English. Most UN ambassadors use translators when they listen to speeches in English, and I don't see anyone calling them stupid.

Most foreigners bashing Yingluck in this thread probably can't even order toilet paper to wipe their bums in Thai language. So take a look at yourself before going after others.

She seems to have the backing of the UN Secretary General, Hillary Clinton and Obama have all praised her. I think she could care less what an anonymous forum poster over the past 8 pages has said.

  8. Accounting girl got red eyes from tear gas? A woman besides your wife got shot in the chest? Your neighbor lost his leg?

Care to share where that happened? As far as I know, the PAD airport protest took weeks because the police didn't have the guts to do anything about it. Strange that your accounts of events were never even mentioned in the Thai news. If they did indeed happen, they were probably caused by the yellow PAD thugs themselves.

Let's remember that the PAD are not peaceful protestors, they're armed thugs that are not afraid to use violence in order to force their twisted beliefs upon others:

    <snipped pics>

The citizens of Thailand and especially of Bangkok do NOT want to see this happen again.

Do you have ANY idea what happened during the yellow shirt protests?

    It seems not.

A picture speaks more than a thousand words. Take a look at them, I posted them above.

Please explain the violence of armed PAD thugs against unarmed innocent civilians. Is this the kind of democracy that we can expect from PAD?

  9. As my wife and my staff frequently went there, I can guarantee that this is not true. My accounting girl got red eyes from the tear gas and she isn't a nasty person. A middle age women beside my wife got rubber bullets in the chest. And the neighbor of my favorite restaurant in chumphon lost a leg. But I don't know him, maybe he is a nasty person.

My wife always donated money there, shouldn't it be the other way if she is Sondhi's merc?

  10. The PAD has been under appreciated for the service they did for the country. They are about to be appreciated again. I didn't necessarily agree with their methods, but having seen how much worse the reds were, I guess the ground rules are now set as to how this game will be played.

If I'm the PAD I'm going to go after sea ports and railways this time. Bring the import/export market to its knees. Given the floods have already crippled industry the damage there will be minimized, but killing the supply chains will have a dramatic effect on the population. Force the government to look incompetent or fire first. Then the yellows become the oppressed demonstrators, and the civil war can begin between the red government and the yellow freedom fighters.

Your post is a slap in the face for all Thais that have suffered under the childish actions of the PAD. Tens of thousands have lost their jobs and due to the closure of the main international airport, the tourism sector has taken damage that will take years if not decades to fully repair.

Destroying the import/export market, preventing the country from recovering from the floods, then forcing the government to shoot at its own people ..? Seriously. Someone suggesting things like that needs to go for a check-up. What you're suggesting is illegal to say the least.

Freedom fighters? Service for the country? What you're suggesting is a blueprint to destroy Thailand.

    Give me a break!

  11. The winners make the rules. Yingluck/Thaksin won, Abhisit lost. The Thai people? They spoke at a free and fair election and have made their choice. Everyone knew that if Puea Thai won, Thaksin would come back. Seems that the majority of voters want Thaksin back.

It's Thailand, not Farangland. It's unbelievable how many Farangs can't seem to accept the choices that Thai people make in their own land.

  12. It is a testament to the whole meltdown in progress that there is talk of a cabinet reshuffle before 3 months are in the jar.

I think you need to read the initial post again. She cleared up rumors that there would be a cabinet reshuffle, saying there won't be any. There was never a talk of a cabinet reshuffle except from maybe trolls who seem to get off on posting lies.

  13. She probably owns at least another 10 properties in Thailand, so at least she has somewhere else to live, unlike the majority of the flood victims...

Needless to say she will be well recompensed ;) by the government to cover all damages done to her house...

Also there are squads of government officials working round the clock to ensure that not a drop of water comes into her house, or her brother's or any one else's in the family.

Two allegations are presented as fact. Back it up please.

Neither of you can and if the comments remain, the forum can be accused of promoting the dissemination of rumors, falsehoods and unsubstantiated allegations.

    Think before you post..

He can't back them up because they're lies. Thaksin's house is flooded since over a week. There was even an article on the major English speaking newspaper (the one that can be trusted, not The Nation) if someone wants to look it up. Unfortunately, ThaiVisa prohibits direct linking to that newspaper's website.

Yingluck's house is protected by sandbags, just like everyone else's house. No special samurai ninja task force pumping out every single drop of water at work here. How do I know it? I live a few sois away.

  14. Here's a link to a Thai article which states an order from the current Phua Thai government to keep the water in the damns.

Regardless of this, and the decisions previous governments have made before it, there is very little reason for crediting the current government on the way they've handled this crisis. I seriously do wonder if we'd actually be better off completely without them.

Thank you for the article. That was on September 5th, when much of the country was already flooded. So that was indeed a good decision by Puea Thai, not to release even more water. The current crisis was created by the Abhisit administration, who did not order the dams to release water (for whatever reason) back in March through June 2011 when there was roughly 500% more rainfall than in previous years.

  15. Let's face it, you can't tell a city of 10 million people that they will be all flooded. It would create a mass panic and only make things much worse. The only thing you can do is tell them that it won't flood, and when it floods, tell them to leave, district by district. The panic is much smaller and less psychological on the 10 million population.

Imagine 10 million people running around the city not knowing where to go or what to do. They'll likely panic-buy all the stores empty creating a human catastrophe that's much worse.
