  1. The US Embassy does not like visa companies--there is a feeling that if you're using one you have a problem, and so they really look for problems. It is possible to get a tourist visa, but you really need to KILL the paperwork. Provide everything they ask for, and provide it in spades. When my wife applied for a tourist visa WHILE her immigrant visa was in process, her application pack weighed over 1 kg! Her interview took about 2 minutes (They tried a trick question on her and she shut it down)

If you're going to go the marriage or Fiancee route you need to go through a website called Visajourney.com It's a huge community of people going through the immigrant visa process, and there will be lots of people who have been in exactly your boat previously. It's completely free, and better than any immigration attorney I've ever come across.

    Good luck!

  2. Both the Mrs. and I have found that Doctors are generally welcoming of informed questions, but their support staff are definitely not. Remember that most of your treatment is triaged and managed by support staff, and you need to remain in their good graces--based on experience NEVER do anything other than smile and wai with receptionists, nurses, etc as they feel threatened in their positions by your having any knowledge--however you can have the hard-hitting discussions with the doctors and they will generally respect you for it.

  3. I know about 10 places that have the picture on the menu. I have also seen scantly dressed ladies in beer dresses still advertising beer which is supposed to be illegal.

Scandalous! You should tell those ladies to take the beer dresses off IMMEDIATELY. (And then sit back with a beer and enjoy the show)

  4. I have been Gout free for 3 years by doing the following:

    1) Drink water, LOTS of water. 5-6 Litres a day. Minimum. It's challenging for a week or two, but then you get used to it.

    2) Cherry Concentrate. If I start to feel a tingle, which does happen on rare occasion, I pop Cherry pills for about a week. Cherry is supposed to do something with the uric acids.

    Good luck!

  5. Our 6 year old wants to do some good Muay Thai while in Thailand. Any recommendations for gyms that are good with kids? (Serious training though, not just playing at it) While he's not done Muay Thai before, he's currently a blue-belt in Tae-Kwan-Do, so not a total beginner. No English needed (We'd rather have the training in Thai anyway)

  6. We're looking to rent a 1 bedroom condo for 2 months starting late june. Needs to be fully furnished, with a swimming pool, and very near to song taew routes. Any suggestions on the best way to find a place? We're happy to put down a deposit, and are very good tenants (Mainly will be the Thai Boss-Lady, one of her sisters, and the Mini-Monkey, but I'll swing into town for about 10 days as well) We're happy to pay--just not through the nose :)

We have a few options that we're currently looking at around the 15k range, but The Boss Lady feels they're too pricey, and would like to get closer to 10k--palaya kee neow mak mak!
