  1. I'm so please to have a music station rather than ones that perport to be muysic radio when that are really talk radio. With the exception of a DJ know as "the Doris" I didn't get enough music untill 89.5 came on the air....

  2. Here to for banned from working the bars in the nook of the Vises lower Sai Yuan corner cluster of bars. I will not mention the bar but merely tells us what happens to LB's that are to scuzzed out for Soi Crok etc. Sad but I think the owner is out of town. More to follow!

  3. I have been told that many TG's want to work in my local shopping spot... I have fallen victem to them my self. I have gained a 20 year old who promptly brou in a share worker for her shift.

BTW, has any to the real people whore really live in the area noticed the dress shop in the back of Rawai Lotus. Rather the owner of the shop. A total stunner, wearing her samples daily. It was tought to beat the Vietnamese Frenc lady who runs Saigon Pho in the Fisherman Way business center. I have only the lookielew know of the Frangset lovely but I would have to rate her well gaininst some tjhe the centers best that I have first HANDIE knowledge.

Anybody else finding the pickings good vs that of the corner of lower SaiYuan and Vises???

  4. Yes, forgot to write 'turning left' but for any thinking reader that was obvious.

Turn right there sometimes, never any problems. Normally though I am coming from Rawai there, sometimes Sai Yuan, going direction Chalong. Quite ofteh also from Chalong to Rawai. I'm glad those traffic lights are not working at the moment.

I agree. There hasn't been any backups since they've been off. They haven't been there that long and we all did just fine without them. Still wish they could do something about Chalong circle, like making it at least twice the size so it would actually function as a real traffic circle.

Jymbo007.. you are obvioulsy a driver in the area and not just a poster of no daily review.. We are bounding about a scratch on the nom. CC or Ha Yek as it is know in Thai is a real nut house. I agreee that moving the circle back to the size a few year ago will be of great help. One of the PROBLEMS is once you get into the circle itself there is alot of movement trying to get lined up as to you exit route... Lets look at this from Vises.. If it were truely two lanes wide then motorists could position them selves as to the exit road local. If you a moving to somethings other that the first exit road it gets pushy... Factor the evil cement trucks, tour vans and tuk tuks

it gets even more fun. The full scale Hino buses need more room so the have to go wide and slow.

OK, here is the next banter point. I hope we all agree (for those who don;'t go observe the trafficand not just post) that the manditory left from both Patek to Chaoa Fah West and from Soi Sunrise (Ao Chalong Rd) into Vises (aka 3 names) is good even though the manditory U turns are a bit of a pain. I really like the big barriers to keep the pesky motorbikes from turning where ever they like as ruing the que that created a good flow.

Banter Point Par Excellance.... Police supervision.. No, for the flamers lurking I'm not talking about HaRoi Baht Coppers.. They have got it good in the flow. Sure its busy comming out of Rawai in the mornings but you'd never get thru with all the construction trucks tracffic. I congradulate the BIB on a daily job well done as there are far less fender benders and nocked over motorbikes.. I was proceding thru HaYek from Rawai to CF West. A motor bike tried to go from my left on to the circle but fell off between my truck and a Patek bound truck... The BIB rigth there can to the aid of the motorbike nutter but waived me and the other truck to move on. We were totally in the right so keem moving. A big issue is no flow lanes cause there is only one lane comming from two lane roads... Jymyo 007 is spot on, even thought it is high season reduce the size of the circle and increas the traffic flow.

BTW, where are the Xmas decor this year?

  5. Clairty is important in giving directions etc. R U a retired Russian ATC? I must also disagree a bit on the left.... Look before oyu jump as those proceding north on Vises, Wichet, or Vichet (what ever map one is reading) the trafic is brisk. I use thast intersection often and even look if I have the green, when the light is working. NEVER procede thru and intersection without looking..... The would be in juixtapose with the current safety VFO showen to all whom receive or renew a THAI DL....

  6. I've always found it works better when the lights are down.

100% true, you can turn them all off between central and chalong circle for me. the only one i think is really necessary is at the rolly tasker corner

Are you talking about the ones that are less that 6mos old or all lights????

  7. Quite. The Sai Yuan junction is a nightmare - vehicles coming from Sai Yuan rarely bother checking traffic on the main road, they just turn left anyway expecting everyone to get out of their way.

I've found that the best way to approach this junction (from the main road) is to move into the 'fast lane'.

Coming from Sai Yuan traffic can go anyway, provided safe, so the lights really have nothing to do with this.

The would be going left from SaiYuna OK. Now as for the right turn fromk Sai Yuan into Vises that would be a different story.. Have a go at it on your honda jazz!

  8. No help as I don't ride motorbikes! I hope Ellis moves into the beach road old M and M but I'm thinking the rent is way off the sheets. MM is out of bounds do to some issues with ownership.

  9. Well, keeping in mind of the ever present TIT I do remember tha the traffic light noted above was off last high season. Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the purpose for the light for safety and better traffic flow. None of the above woudl be the right answer. I just plow thru like the old days and watch the little puddles drip off the frang on rented motor bikes... Seems to me to turn then off for low and on for high but TIT!

  10. Old M and M's location. Thai food there is doing nothing, plus there is still some walk in traffic by people looking for Italian.

Good Idea.. I woould love to see a pizza place there since M/M is out of bounds!

  11. OK, Best way to get there??????

I think they did the go to Itaky when I looked but never found them. I Tried the sign in Nai Harn but never saw them and ended up on Vises via the Temple.. Went up from Nakita's and did see them also. Any help would be great and do MP me with a link etc.

  12. The hairdressers at Chalong Tesco (first floor) are pretty good.

There is a guy there (can't remember his name, but he wears glasses) that speaks pretty good English and pays attention to what you are telling him.

    HI,

Tis the second floor in that complex and the name of the shop is Anun. I personally think that Juree (lovely lady) is really good with color. Just look at the hair of the colorists and you see who does a nice job!

  13. Of course during high season it is better to have the traffic lights at Saiyuan and Vises turned off. I like it because I can just roar thru as the weak at heart, newbies, and tourists are scared of the normal traffic. No lights.. love it!

  14. I've been told by one of the more siginificante property owners along the Strip that what we see now is all there will be. I've heard from the Lotus Rawai people that there will be new turn in systems..... I guess we'll wait and see!

  15. Why do people keep writing this kind of nonsense? The person responsible for an accident is the one that will have to take the blame, whereever he/she is from.

    agreed steven :)

    and get a better pickup

2011 Vigo, Navara and Triton with 16-17 inchers road tyres and ABS all stop from 100kmh in 43-44 meters, on par or better than most cars

then learn how to use the brakes before you need them :)

I must say that my stopping distance is very good. In any of the trucks mentioned you folks in the mini's must understand that I can see well further down the road that a mini car . What can you see in front of you in a mini. an exhaust pipe etc Additonally how much metal surrounds you is the main issue in a smash up.. The distance from, my add on bumper to me in the cab is about the same as a whole Ford Fiesta.... and that means a good possiblility for a long time siesta for the fiesta riders. I can anticipate the road issuses a few hundres meters out not just react to the tail lighjts in fromt of me. Some times I watch the min's fly down toward Rawai Beach from Ha Yek going the top speed for that mini car. Opps, I can get out of the way well with twice the engine and not nearly twice the weight. Please, Motor Bikies and Mini's "slow down you move too fast". Going at your top speed is unsafe. I've never passed 100 and that is about max in the mini's and motorbikes stock versions. (without unsafe vibration)

  16. Rawai hardware has sets of 100 or so for ฿55

I love Rawai Hardware. Very honest, one price system and good english. I broke a big pair of garden sheers. The were about 700 baht and they let me take two the the 350 bhat ones. The sister (yo0ung ladyu very nice, laughted. Papa you big boy.. can break me..... We go now???????

  17. Big C and Lotus always have the stuff. I was in Superp Cheap ( the big one) and they had a hyge slection in the promo area near to the ATM's You know when seasonal stuff goes... Like squite guns for songkran etc. Enther thru the food court area and just past the security check oyu see them... Mahk Mahk and mai pang!

  18. Every day.. jar, tube stc. Delish deli at the Fisherman Way Business Garden in Rawai. (200m south of Rawai lotus) Tis and Aussie run place that you'll like with lots of goodies to eat.l They even import lettuce and mushroom from Oz.

Plenty of good toasties with a rocket. I had to lear to speak OZ so I could enjoy being a patron.. I use to like the girls up at Black Canyon but the Delish food is far better!

  19. I drive in Phuket daily. Chalong Circle Warrior etc. Too much driving as of late. One week 2 Patong trips, Big C Central, and this morning Hilton Karon... All from Rawai! I agree that high season is worse, a no brainer. I do also agree that so far this years traffic is worse. Its a combination of many holiday makers, motorbike users and us folks whom get more keyed up with the new hazzards. Plus the tour vans are on the money curve for the year so they are mo agrssive. Look, I posted earlier in this thread about a beater old tuk tuk that wanted to pass me heading out of Patong... The commericial passenger transport people are the problem, they are causing accidents everywhere. Travel from Rawai to Central and back, oyu'll see one. Yesterday a very portly

Russian wearing only a budgie smugler skidded out of contro in the Lotus car park. He traveled 3m with the bike on one leg.. I just drove on. In Patong by the temple ther was a fast bike (aka crotch rocket) turned over with the driver and lady rider in only swim wear. Two solutions are to first control the passenger trade. An op mentioned something about no moving violation stops. Traffic is a moving violation. You'll not get anywhere if you emulate the traffic safety video at Land T office.....

I do have to say that control the retal market is most important! No Motorbike lic no rental.. Never happen. Solution for expats. Drive a big truck with alot of power, you'll need it :D

  20. prob me, i hit a farang's bike on the bypass few months ago when he wasnt in the shoulder and i was trying to pass someone by the left lane because he was going 40 in the right lane as they always do

Tanuki. Drive faster or further left and if you see an obstacle then stop and wait for cars to pass you if you're a slow driver. If you'Re trying to do a uturn on the right side of the road, wait untill you are next to the uturn lane before switching from the shoulder to the middle lanes instead of pissing off everyone driving at 30kph in the fast lane.

If you follow those simple rules, you wont ever be too close to a moving car.

Did you deliberately hit the motorcycle because he wasn't riding to your standards and he pissed you off, or because of your poor driving skills? I hope you stopped and explained your rules to him as he was on your road..

Next thing you the Aussie Boyh will be asking if you still beat your wife!

  21. Yes, its very expensive considering the food is terrible and have no desire to pay 400 baht for a flavorless burger that's smaller than a McDonald's cheesburger.

The whole set up is retarded, nobody can see the stage from any booth due to the excessive amount of pylons in the place.

For the same money, I'd rather stroll over and eat at Sam's steakhouse and enjoy a bottle of wine minus the package deal tourists squabbling over hard rock phuket t-shirts.

I agree with the retarded set up. You end up looking at a small tv screen.

No small TV if you buy a good ticket. Me Front Row!
