Been to Savannakhet last thursday, entered Laos at 8am, and back in Mukdahan at 4.30pm, visa (non-immigrant O) is ready now in one day, hand it in between 9-11 in morning and pick it up at 3.30 in afternoon. Still a chaotic happening, consulate staff have to act like teachers in a kindergarden to form a que. But at least now you can return to thailand the same day. Not many 'farang' anymore, maybe that's the reason why it goes more quickly now.
They also still operate in the old building, although the new one is ready to move in.

they better join this forum, if Suthep can go on, there will be no forum anymore, only 'heil Suthep' websites and propaganda movies about troops marching around in Bangkok, Yingluck may be on skype with big brother all day, but Suthep has a direct line to north-korea, maybe he bought a condo over there allready if things go wrong over here.

The fact is, Thailand and its people have voted and they chose Yingluck, knowing perfectly well that she's Thaksin's sister.
If people don't like her, she will be gone in the next election, don't worry. What you can't do is try to overthrow a democratically elected government to impose the will of a small minority.
Suthep is an anarchist and has done more damage to Thailand already than Yingluck could ever do in her entire term. Anyone that supports him, his anarchist and undemocratic views is not to be taken seriously anyways in a modern society.
totally agree, he not agree with elections, so, there goes democracy, the new PM should be chosen by the people (that's what happened allready) but, probably by the people he prefers, so he can stick his arm in the new PM ass again and control the country. He's a sick bastard and far more dangerous then Thaksin ever was.

I just rented my first motorbike yesterday... luckily it came with a rental helmet. And I WILL be wearing it.
But does anyone know where I can go to get a youth helmet? I'll be driving around Kamala Beach (NOT at 1:30am) with my 9 year old son. They gave us two helmets, but his is not sized for a child. I've only been in Thailand for two weeks, so I'm still finding my way around. Any helps is appreciated.
Thanks.
guess tesco lotus have them, or bicycle shops. Good luck and keep it safe

Its easy for you folks to talk the other side of medallion from far far away.
These russian companies only sell products / services to Russians. They are not competing with other companies, in fact they are working private for russian people only. You may see dead sea cosmetics sold to Thais and tourists by Russian ladies in Bangkok, but that is different.
They write only in russian to their shops, you have no idea what does it say. Maybe it is a private casino? Who knows? They sell properties, houses (no idea how? maybe leasehold?), condos all written in Russian, no english or Thai.
Think again like this: They came here, they use hospitality of Thailand, but would like to keep money off themselves by participating closed-circuit tourism. This type of tourism business is not acceptable at anywhere in the world.
I'd like to book a taxi from Karon to Kata Noi. I'm not willing to pay more than 1000 baht. What time can you swing by and pick me up?
Careful now, you will get busted too.
If it must be such hard living over here, then i would not waste time in writing on a forum, but instead spend my time in packing my bags

IMHO,
The 3 cars i listed are all in the same price bracket, about 1m to 1.3 m baht.
I thought looking at the 3 they were similar, not pickups or crossovers just
large vechiles which we would be safe in travelling around the country on long road trips.
Mitsubishiu Pajero Sport 2wdGT is great value at 1.2 million and would meet your requirements of a big vehicle, safe, and comfortable to drive around Thailand. Versatile interior is good if you want to either use it as a 7 seater or fold rear seats into the floor and use it as a 5 seater.
I bought the new Pajero sport v6 in september last year, nice car, good navigation, touchscreen, dvd player, lcd screen in the back. Nice performance, but fuel usage was amazing (13l/100km), switched over to LPG now.

I do wonder what cover other young Brits who live long term in Thailand without working here have and how much it costs?
I wonder that because I should probably get it too...
I got mine a few years back, i was 37, full medical insurance in Thailand, 24,000 baht/year, got it with Siam Commercial Bank.
Crackdown planned on resorts in forests in Kanchanaburi

My ex her mother bought land in Sai Yok noi about 10 years ago, cleared it and planted rubber trees, last year (rubber trees are productive) a local politician showed up and claimed the land, offering her 50,000 baht for the trees, she refused, ended up in court. Last week she was transfered to prison for a one year sentence, she will be 70 when released. Wonder if one of these resort owners will face the same sentence
