  1. thanks for all the replies

    yes...its open n operating

its not as friendly or streamlined as before.

a new boss i was told.

a lot of people being told to go n get more info or do things differently.

my photo was rejected because the background colour wasnt white.

    a first for me.

the copy n photo guy is just outside tho.

    20 baht per page

    200 baht for 6 photos

hes not good with the camera...i saw a top of head cut off n my pics were half body.

doubt i could use them elsewhere.

the immo officer was going to reject them but as they were fresh from his guy he accepted.

still...the wait for extensions was short n the whole thing done in 30mins including photos.

It depends upon what type of entry you have.

If you have an entry from a visa you can show both passports on departure from the country and they will transfer the entry stamp from the old one to the new one and stamp you out of the country in it.

If on an extension of stay you need to have it done at an immigration office.

    thanks

i have a setv thats been extended to the 3rd month.

so the airport option is ok by the sounds.

if i wanted to change the setv to a non imm, can i simply now go to immigration with the 2 passports and the income stat dec from my consulate, and have it all done at once. [sorry if this is off topic]

  3. just checking here to see if my information is correct.

    my plans...

1 fly to phuket from brisbane [aus passport]

2 get the 30 day stamp [visa exemption on arrival i think its called]

3 get a letter signed from my embassy stating i earn enough to fund a year in thailand.

4 apply to have my stamp converted/extended to the retirement extension at phuket immigration.

is this all there is to it or do i then have to cross a border and return or provide other information besides the photo and passport copies.

    thanks.

  4. lite beer is right.

tell him to slip over to the immigration office in phuket town.

fill out a 1 page visa extension form on site. [often there are volunteers who can help him] 1900 baht.

photocopies and passport photos can be got downstairs [first] for a reasonable fee [120 baht all up i think]

the whole process is quite painless if you get there early [opens 8.30am i recall]

should be all done in 30 mins. and back on the beach by 10!

    ps

then start planning for the next double entry visa run.
