I take my own cloth bags to Tesco, Carrefour, etc. They look at me like I'm crazy! And it's hard to tell the clerks at 7/11, etc., that you don't want a plastic bag. It's only a can of coke! I don't need a bag for it.

My wife says it's a Thai thing...they feel if they don't get a bag, they are getting ripped off...go figure...

Same here, Tesco are now giving green points if you bring your own bags, not sure what you can use them for yet.

You saw this where? In Bangkok? My wife's sister saw one like this in Don Muang once. At that size I wouldn't want them around especially if you had pets or small children.

Just a harmless little python, had one on the garden wall a month or two back, bit bigger though, wouldn't want to cuddle up too close.

Yep in Bangkok, Ladprao area, my house is next to an uninhabited area of swamp land, so I get all sorts of wildlife popping over the garden wall. Had that Python on 2 separate occasions. In fact it was my dogs that alerted me to it. They are still intact, all 5 of them.

Does any one know of a good alternative to Green Papaya for Som Tam? It's quite hard to get here, and when i can find it it's just so expensive...

2 Frenchmen robbed by Pattaya transvestites

PATTAYA: -- Two French tourists were robbed after they took two transvestites to their rented room for sex and massage late Tuesday night.

The two men, Annisse Rannane, 23 and Delil Secen, 18, were found tied up and naked in their rented room in South Pattaya area at 12:30 am.

They told police that they met the two transvestites while walking back to their room and the two offered sex and massage service.

But when they the two transvestites back to their room, two other Thai men with face covered stormed into the room and robbed them.

Funny you should mention it, I just downloaded a documentary from UK Nova about life in the prison and they did say that it was possible to visit inmates.
