many thanks for excellent replies and information. since we visit thailand at least once every year en route to or from oz, I am happy to invest in a thai dongle. the donges I have were bought in sydney and I assume are locked to networks there.
is the price of TB1300 for a dongle achievable in a small town like hua hin?

i am spending a week in hua hin later this year and the hotel charges an arm and a leg for wifi.

With my wife, I will be passing through bangkok en route to oz in march next year.
we want to visit bali for a week with thai air flights from bangkok to bali and back to bangkok. ( I need the extra thai FF miles to get my gold card before the end of the year.
can you recommend a travel agent who could put together a reasonable flights and hotel package.
I could book the flights on the thai air site and use asia rooms/asia hotels etc for the hotel booking but am looking for a cheaper package rate.
any suggestions gratefully received.

As far as I can see, only thai air and vietnam air fly from hanoi or saigon to bangkok and the fares are almost identical and high. does any other airline fly this route offering cheaper fares?

I am travelling to bangkok on tiger air and wonder if anyone has recent experience of how strictly they apply hand baggage rules ie maximum of 7 Kg. I also need to know if one can also carry a small camera bag and possibly a book. I have faxed tiger air but to date I have had no response.

]I would beg to differ. The Landmark is utterly second rate compared to the JW Marriott and attracts a far less up-market crowd. It's the kind of place, as my wife says, where Arabs try to look up your dress.[/u][/u][/i][/color]
Mywife says next to the sofitel in Hua Hin this is her favourite hotel in thailand. we both feel very comfortable in the landmark. for a real treat we had 2 nights on the club floor earlier this year and were really well looked after.

has anyone had dealings with circle of asia on-line travel agency in bangkok? if so were they reliable?
I am trying to book a holiday in vietnam including hotels, domestic flights and transfers. circle of asia seems to be the most acceptable in terms of value for money and service. unlike vietnamese agencies they do not demand payment more the 4 weeks before travel.

where in HH is the new tesco supermarket?

rishi - thanks for this info. would you only get this extension to your 30 day visa at the end of your initial 30 days or at anytime during your 30 days?
is there an official web site that provides detailed info on visa extensions in country?
-
can you advise us on renewing our 30 day visas. we are spending about 33 days in thailand and therefore need to renew our visas somehow. are there any safe, comfortable tours from chiang mai which would take us over the thai border so we could get a new 30 day visa. ideally this would be a day trip. it needs to fairly comfortable since my wife and I are well into our 60s

my wife & I are visiting HH again next year. the car service we used based in HH has increased its rates to Euro 150 about £105 about TBT7350 for the return trip.
can anyone please recommend a driver or car service which would be cheaper (and reliable)?
many thanks.

we have a tremendous problem and are seeking any help available.
we have a brand new, 4 GB IPOD and are staying in hua hin for next week. when it ran out of juice today we realised the USB/power lead was still at home in england.
it is hard to contemplate life without an IPOD.
can anyone tell us where we might buy or borrow or use an IPOD lead in HH pse?

anyone know of a cheap, reliable laundry 'round suk soi 11??
-
having spent 10 days in CM and used the laundry in the riverside condos, I can endorse the view that this is a cheap, good and reliable service. thanks for the tip.
I found the sheraton an excellent hotel and good value compared to bangkok hotels of a similar standing.
the location of the hotel was great. a twenty minute walk into CM or 40 baht by tuk tuk when I felt lazy.
we enjoyed the ping river restaurant, just over the bridge from the sheraton. excellent thai food, great sevice but watch the mossies.
went from CM to hua hin. (I preferred CM).
thanks for all the advice we received before our visit.

underground weather site on www says temperatures this week in high 90s F and hitting 100 F on thursday. is this typical of february weather in CM or will town slow down?

When I asked same question couple of weeks ago, this is the best answer I got.
There are nightly meetings at 6:30 at McCormack Hospital and a Sunday morning meeting, same place, at 9 a.m.

Resort For A 4 Year Old
in Thailand Travel Forum
Posted
I am hoping to meet up with my son and 4 year old grandson current;y living in australia, in thailand towards the end of the year. on another forum, the clubmed in phuket has been suggested as a great family holiday.
are there any other resorts in thailand which would provide fun for a 4 year old? anywhere in thailand would be OK apart from pattaya.
many thanks for all help.
