The main problem in Chiang Mai is Food Panda and Grab drivers, they are checking the map on mobile not looking at the road, only one outcome, bang!

They are efficient, well connected and part British owned so there are no language issues. I've used them for over ten years without a problem, they do not however get involved in some of the dodgy practices that some other visa agents do.
What practices are those?

But many liked to wait to ultimate dates , hoping the elastic would be amnesty stretched again & again ….(still some do …)
One very good phrase I remember from a poster as answer on them
"Hope for the best …, but prepare for the worst …"
I’m hoping you stop interjecting, but I’m prepared to put up with it

I put -loopholes- under " " as some here consider particular ways of staying in Thailand as such.
Same as I put -play by the rules- under " ".
Which ways, please expand

I assume, once those difficult times are out of the way, many won't use the "loopholes" anymore.
Which means some will ' play by the rules ",
others will lay Thailand aside.
Which loopholes?

People still don't understand, if you don't have the required finances 800/400, 65/40 you shouldn't be in Thailand. Border runs or fake visas are not the answer.
Please read all previous posts before coming here to gloat.

For the last time, people were not given time to meet these requirements, please engage brain

People using this method may have 400k, but we’re given one week to import it for 2 months seasoning, impossible in my case. They could show 12 months income, but were not given this requirement 12 months in advance. All the posters here saying ‘illegal’ this and that are just stupid.

Thanks trucking, I did transfer 45k on the 26th July and will do the same on 26th aug. I will then go for the extension. My concern is that it is personal funds and not pension or wages, which i think they need proof. One thing is though, it shows as international transfer on statement which is in my favor. This is plan a, then I have a week to apply for Ed visa, which is plan b, then I will go on overstay upto 90 days or until the border opens.

Imm. told my wife it was too late for the 400k, that was last week.

sandyf, what about all the family guys who earn 39k baht or less, or the guys who could not get together 400k in one week? Thousands of farang use the Savannakhet/HohChiMihn non o visa who have not been given a chance here. You say just return to their own country then come back, talk sense.

Matzzon, what you say is garbage, we were told the amnesty would end around the 20th July, which gave us 6 days to season 400k for the 2 months before the amnesty ends on 26th Sept. I would have planned months ago had I known. As for UbonJoe (the most knowable man on this forum that always give us good advices (english please)), I think he needs to help the many many people he has advised about the Savannakhet/HohChiMinh visa method and fast.

Yorkshire Tea, for Chiang Mai proof means, if you work in Thailand you need to show work permit and employment contract, with income statement, personal income tax submission PND91 at least 3 months prior and the business registration. if working abroad, an income statement authorized by the applicants embassy or consulate in Thailand for at least 40k.

I think the UK is no longer issueing such letters, but I could be wrong. The voluanteer farang at immigration mentioned a one month special extension for seasoning the 400k though, which I presumed was a Chiang Mai thing. I think I will try to get the money in the next week or so then try this extension. Jim, this sounds promising, what would it entail, and where did you read about it?
-
Hi UbonJoe, thanks for the reply. I have used this visa method with success until now. Do you think one week is sufficient time to accrue 400k, I don't. Do I wait for the border to open before 26th Sept, what do you suggest now?
-
Britmantoo, I think 26th Sept. is not amnesty, this is it I believe, you're either in or out! If it is a possible amnesty date, then I can relax a little, but I dont think it is

I get my non O in Savannakhet every year, expires 1st Oct. Used up 60 day extension already. Last week tried to borrow 400k before 26th but to no avail(gov. gave us one week to get the funds for 2 month seasoning). Today went to imm and they said I could get a temp. extension of stay based on if I could get the money in the next week or so(cant use monthly method as this needs proof etc). This is getting urgent now, and I would like to know where Ubon Joe is to help us, as he is a big advocate of using Savannakhet/Hoh Chi Mihn for this type of legal visa. Why cant they just set up temp. borders inside Mae Sai for example to do a simple 90 day in/out stamp? HELP!
