  1. Smart move, I think, lower costs mean lower fares. Scoot are moving there from September. I think the government want all LCCs to operate from there eventually.

WOW ... I had to check this out.

Muck of the chatter was that they were moving in May ... but the latest is "Scoot will start using Don Muang Airport from 1st September. Flight still arriving at 7PM from Singapore."

That quote is from another website and not officially from Scoot.

Scoot used to code share with Tiger Airlines on some flights so I wonder if that has gone by the wayside?

Scoot website only show destinations that they serve. Also shows BKK for bookings prior to Sept. 1 and DMK for dates thereafter.

This move will also tie in with the NokScoot operation when it 'gets off the ground' (so to speak!).

  2. So why did I pay 75 quid for a triple entry tourist visa in London?

I can not even use it!

Yes you can, if you are a legitimate tourist.

Maybe I'm stupid but what does a Thai Consulate or Embassy consider a legimate tourist when issuing a tourist visa. I can't find anything on Thai Government websites which asks for an applicant to define their 'status' as a tourist when applying for a tourist visa.

  3. It doesn't surprise me having just returned from 2 weeks in Northern Thailand. My family travelled to Chiang Rai and areas around there and the speeds travelled at,even through towns, was something to make our hair stand on end. There seemed to be little Police presence on the highways and almost nothing of speed limit signage. I commented to my friend, who was driving us around, that maybe the Buddhist philosophy of more than one life makes them feel immune to the danger.
