Hello Seniors,
A question if a PR holder is involved in a accident where in they were in a wrong lane and hit a motorbike would that impact the person from getting his citizenship.
Is it a criminal case even though one wants to pay compensation fair and the victims claims more so they go to court for a fair settlement.

Hello Seniors,
For Thai citizenship is singing the national anthem a prerequisite to approval.
I see that if one can speak and understand Thai well this should not have any impact right???
Finally does it require 5 years post PR to apply or can we do this earlier.
Advise much appreciated.

1 - You can only apply for an APEC card from the country of your citizenship and, of course that has to be an APEC member country. The exception to this rule is Hong Kong, where Permanent Residents are eligible to apply. But unfortunately it is only HK.
Might be worth noting, I have Thai friend's with APEC cards issued in Thailand. The Thai govt has set the bar pretty high to qualify. It's not easy to get.
2 - As I understand, for Thai citizenship you are eligible to apply based on marriage to a Thai citizen after 3 years. Applying based on holding PR requires 5 years with PR.
So if you qualify on the basis of marriage it probably makes sense to skip the PR route since the requirements are similar.
Thanks for the feedback and have a pretty clear direction now.

Hello Seniors,
1--I wanted to know for PR holders in Bangkok who are businessmen can they get a APAC card.
2-For applying citizenship can one apply after holding an PR for 3 years. What is the time they take to give you this if you qualify. Considering one has stayed there for over twenty years.
Appreciate.

Ok I will check on that and speak with the embassy staff today.

He was told he can leave the country as he is studying abroad he did not do the 6 month stamping renewal as and when the PR is approved he can come back on a non o visa and collect his book, this was confirmed by the senior immigration officer as the process.
His PR is approved and the letter has been issued by Immigration 1 already to collect the book. The embassy has to issue the visa now thats the challenge.

The officer has informed that you need to apply for non o visa with the Thai embassy however the officer in the embassy is saying tourist should be fine, there is no clear paperwork which shows this I guess and have asked her for the same.
Lets see what happens as I am asking the officer to speak with the consular section or provide me a doc which allows this process.

Hello Seniors,
I need your help to understand the process for the PR for my son.
He had applied in 2016 and has since been approved however his visa has already expired since September since he turned 20 years last year.
Does he need to get a Non O visa to enter thailand or come on a tourist visa to collect the same, Could you please urgently guide me on this it will be most appreciated as the embassy says tourist visa is good enough but the immigration needs a non 0 stamped.
Thanks

Seems if your working abroad and need to go in and out of Thailand a lot this will save pages in both the blue book and passport.Hello all PR holders.
I was told that now we can use the auto gates at the airport for all PR holders who have a valid passport with minimum 6 months and also who has completed 6 months from the date of issue of the blue book.
Make sure you have atleast 2.30 hours of time before your flight.
After immigration stamping go to the immigration box right after that and contact the officer and tell them you want to have the auto gate access.
He will ask you for your blue book and passport with the boarding pass.
He will give you a form to fill which needs a local thai contact with their Thai id and address with phone number. Once done you give this to the officer.
Sit down and relax he will do the necessary entries in the system.
Then he will ask you to sit infront of the camera and take your pictures
Then he will do the fingerprints and once thats through he will complete the process.
He will take you to the gate outside and ask you to put the passport in the scanner at the auto gate and you must use your index finger for scanning and look at the camera once it recognises gate opens and you are no more in the que waiting on your way in and out
Say Khopun krap and breeze in and out.
Cheers and a must do for all PR holders
I just did mine and its really cool.
Still need the endorsement/re-entry permit I think.
Yes you still need to have the endorsement and re-entry permit that is a default system which cannot avoid unless you go on to get Thai citizenship.

Hi,
In case you have a re entry expiring you can renew it as early as one month before the date you intend to travel all it takes to fill in the form and pay the fees in the morning at 10am and you can collect the book back with the stamp in 2 or 3 hours max.
its pretty straight forward and simple.
Also heard that the interviews have begun and will complete the first batch by 16th May 2016.

Hello,
I wanted to know which govt hospital in bangkok city can you go and do the medical test for the family for applying the PR along with the DNA test which is mandatory. Appreciate update on this so that we could go over and do this immediately.
Thanks

Thanks for that however in my case children are 18 years old and this route of applying this year seems the best bet to go through the grind once again seems the only option, Citizenship could take minimum 3 years to apply for I was told by the immigration.

Hi All,
I am among the candidates who got the PR approved after a 5 year wait, I wanted to know for applying PR for the children in Dec 2015 if its announced and am hoping this year it will be on track considering all back log has been cleared by the government this time around. Are the following docs only needed since they are being primarily supported by my PR.
1-- PR copies
2-- Passport copies all pages
3-- Medical certicate from government hospital
4-- Certificates to be attested byt the foreign ministry
5-- Police clearance certificate from the embassy
6-- Heard that there will be a DNA test also required
Other than this for the PR holder are there any docs required to be submitted other than passport and work permit if available.
Would appreciate if any of the members can help with the guideline for preparation of docs, I do understand the fee is 50% for the dependants as and when its approved.
Many Thanks

Hi,
I am repeating the same question posted in this forum does anyone have any update on the 2009 PR applicants and other status its been in a limbo do you think this will happen this year.
Also if your son becomes 21 years heard he cannot be a dependent anymore and needs to have a new visa so quite concerning how to go about this as Immigration only say soon this will be approved when you call them.
Any insights will be greatly appreciated
No news and I don't expect any news until the political uncertainty continues. There are far more important things to consider for thai govt. other than signing PR for foreigners.
PS. I am from 2011 batch. Both yours and ours batch will most likely be signed altogether. But when, that's a million dollar question.
Thanks for your feedback SAS and Mario hope they wake up and do this soonest fingers crossed!

Hi Arkady,
Thanks so much for that.
I was told that if the compensation is not agreed by the victim. It will then be a court case and so the record will show that a case was registered for accident.
In this context I asked whether it will be a impediment for citizenship.
I also was of the same opinion that criminal case is a prison sentence caused by brawls/intent etc and a accident can not define a persons eligibility simple because it was a accident.
Best Regards
