Might try going to Central-kad suan gaew. 2nd, 3rd, 4th floors have a health supplement/ pharmacy. There also is a GNC store either at central or Robinson's airport plaza.
Anyone know where you can find witch hazel, in Chiang Mai?I have half a bottle left, going back to states in one month, would like to find it here.
Witch Hazel is a astringent, very helpful for minor skin irritations, and brusing.

ID4 -hualai road or si ping muang rd- ask your tuk tuk driver; hip hop music; open till 5 am;
Mandalay has a cover charge for foreigners and a farang menu and thai drink menu. The farang menu lists every drink at 300+; management making the bill calculation easy for farang.
Other discos not mentioned are Rodeo and ID4.
i went to mandalay during songkran,i remember i had a heineken beer, and got charged just over a hundred baht!
god knows how you got charged over 300baht,that really is taking the p*ss!
if this goes on it is a total disgrace

a few minutes walking; beware the eternal construction hurdles on thapae road.
If you have time to shop around; stop by STA Travel-staff speak english; pass P&P travel heading toward Thapae gate on the left side. EVA Air has direct flights to London and June is considered low season so you should get a price break.
I know there's a few down Moon Muang and one along Nimmanhemin, although never been in them, but can anyone recommend a good, reliable travel agent where the staff know what they're doing and English is well spoken?
cheers

So STA Travel is just past P&P? Checking online with EVA and the direct prices seem pretty reasonably priced.

me thinks you should move up more floors just to be safe and exchange the car for a sturdy boat; let it rain; no wheels no problem
will I be safe on the 7th floor then ?? and how can my car make it into the elevator ? -
July is rainy season. Bring an umbrella or poncho. If you are only going to be in the city center meds aren't needed. Repellent optional only for keeping regular mosquitos away.
I’m traveling to Chiangmai with my kid’s in July and wondering what to expect weather wise?? Do we need to take meds. For possible malaria??? -
If you walk down Ratchadamnern road w/ Thapae gate to your back the second soi on the right. walk about 2-300 meters. Heaps of cooking schools in that area.
Does anyone know of any good cooking classes in ChiangMai? I would perfer a home style if possible instead of one that the larger hotels run as I find them too expensive and only go through a couple of dishes before there food service starts again.Appreciate any feedback.
Cheers,
Fleetz

Rising prices for farangs? no way!
Wonder how much the farang-prices, to view the happy couple, will rise, once the baby pandas arrive ? Necessary to pay for their extra food, naturally.Someone could really clean-up here, and I don't mean the man, who cleans their cage out.

Sauna
in Chiang Mai
Duangtawan Hotel on Loi Kroh has a sauna, jacuzzi, steam room; separate for men and ladies, pool, gym. Theya had a special yearly membership for 2 people, 7.5 K per person. amounts to 20 baht a day.
Is there a place similar to Silom Sauna (Pattaya) in Chiang Mai? A quiet place for steam, pool, sauna, massage? -

Maybe Robinson's at Central Airport Plaza- I bought an expensive pressure cooker there; or Niyom Phanich- thai appliance chain; or I saw a Moulinex store in the Gat Luan-day market area.
Could any of you residents tell me whether you can buy a bread maker in CM? And if so, where? I'm talking about one of the machines where you bung in all the ingredients and it does it all for you...Names of stores and (rough) cost would be greatly appreciated. If there's a choice (!), any recommendations would also be fantastic.

Many 2nd hand shops at Kad Suan Gaew "central" shopping ctr. Dependable? caveat emptor
Brand new mobiles cost very little for just a basic phone. I think a new no frills nokia sells for 1950 B at the shop next to KFC at central. Buy new- less worry about prior defects.
Looking for dependable shop selling 2nd hand mobiles, and would love suggestions as to best subscription rate for farang living here in the winter but going "home" for 2-3 summer months, i e right now. -
I thought the Resort=Faham street? had an excellent band; played different songs than the same ol' done by many thai groups=making cover songs.
Been many months since I last went there and only had drinks.
Last week, I went twice to Goodview restaurant for live band music for dinner. I'm thinking if there is other restaurant as good as Goodview?Your favourite choice of live band restaurants?

Right, the bank owns the asset until fully paid.
It's called credit. Pretty much the same as anywhere else. Remember, Mercedes-Benz's largest market before the Economic Crisis was none other than Thailand. -
Ajarn, I pay over the rate you mention. Waitresses get one day off each week. How did you get this figure?
In my opinion, high turnover among waitresses is extremely normal here, as it is in most places, it seems. Maybe by hiring from out of province (and without a local support system) you are more likely to keep your staff longer... Of course, with restaurant wages often around 3,000 a month, It doesn't seem like you can expect much, either. -
Being an Indian having lived in Bkk for the past 10 years, I would rate the restaurants as follows
Hot Curry (Soi 20) - best
Indian Hut (Suriwong)
Bukhara's (near Soi 7 Suk)
Rest are all "run off the mill" or are not authentic.
Have not included Rangmahal (Rembrandt 24th floor) here since it is too expensive.
No idea about Taj Mahal and Red Pepper - which are new entrants
For Veggie (South Indian) food - Komala's in Soi 20, Suk is the only good choice - though a bit crowded and chaotic in weekends. For those who have seen only the usual Punjabi veriety of Indian food, this will be prove to be different taste and much lighter (less smellier for the Thais). But no meat!
I wasnt impressed with Hot Curry at all, probably one of the worst indian food i have ever had.... then again each to their own taste - i seem to remember that it was processed chicken meat rather than the real thing....
Amazing that comments from two different posters are totally opposite regarding a restauraunt; IF there is no hidden motive. But only a true opinion. Gives a strong impression that someones review of any restaurant can't be relied upon.

I went to the web address and it is not functioning.

high staff turnover is part and parcel of doing business in chiangmai. accept it or find employees from other provinces.
tigerbeer, do you have a bar in CM?
Visa Run-bkk To Cambodia Border
in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Posted
I've a USA passport, Non-immigrant B visa. This time the closest exit point for me is Cambo. Had previously done the CM to Maesai bus trip, every 90 days.
I'm aware of ads for falang owned companies taking you by bus to cambo for about THB 2,000 round trip. A bit high compared to CM-Maesai--THB 700.
Is it possible to go via Ekkamai bus station; buy a round trip ticket on VIP, air con bus? Direct, no multiple stops? What is the name of the border stop? Possible to buy tickets 2 days in advance?
Anyone with current info and prices?
