There is Prof.Dr. Koonlawee Nademanee at Bumrungrad. I saw him when I had PVC issues, but he didn't give me any treatment, correctly as the PVCs resolved almost overnight one year later. He is mainly treating Afib cases. Getting old though and retired from his US career I think.

Thanks ben and glad your condition is under control.  Mine isn't unfortunately; getting worse in fact.

Still hope to hear back from others who have a similar condition and how they are managing it inc possibly other recs if Dr Koonlawee is retiring.

  2. This message is for anyone with experience of receiving effective treatment for AVNRT (SVT) or may know enough about the issue to advise accordingly.  In particular, I am looking for your recommendation of a specialist in Bangkok who has either treated you with medication so your condition is managed well and you can more or less have a normal daily life or if you have had to have catheter ablation and it has worked.  Both courses of treatment are not free from side effects/risks but I would love to hear from those of you who have managed to control this condition or cure it.  And if it hasn't worked, grateful for your views and advice. I am open to seeking treatment in both private and government hospitals.   Thank you

  3. A few weeks ago, there was a discussion thread about the new Tax Notification of 3 May 2019 which states that Thai banks are required to withhold 15% tax on interest unless the account holder submits her/his Tax ID to the bank.  I did just that and visited the two banks where I have two types of account: Fixed Rate and Saving accounts.  Kiatnakin was a complete fiasco; within five minutes of being at the Branch I had five banks employees talking to each other about this and looking completely lost.  They eventually got me to talk to someone at their HQ and her response was I should go to the Revenue Office myself and claim back whatever tax has been withheld.  She wouldn't accept that it's the bank's responsibility to do this and not withhold tax in the future.  The experience at SCB was different but just as frustrating!  SCB would only stop withholding tax on my savings account (which is really a current account with an interest rate of 0.25% or something like that.

As you can see, there seems to be no consensus on how this new law is being understood and implemented.  Anyone has some workable suggestions of how to deal with this?  Thanks

  4. Can anyone please recommend a good fluent English-speaking GP in Bangkok?  I am trying to avoid the over-priced private hospitals like Bumrungrad and Bangkok Hospital.  Looking to get some standard blood tests done and a competent GP I can follow up with.

    Thanks

  5. There is only one website.

If you are looking for visa requirements they are here by clicking the the link to download a PDF file.. http://www.thaiembassy.org/penang/th/services/3065

Thanks I've seen the pdf. I actually need to find out about any public holidays in January when I plan to go for my non-imm B. I also need confirmation that it can be done by submitting the paperwork one day and picking up the passport the following day. Any thoughts?

  6. I have that too, "macular pucker," but not yet a real problem. I've seen Dr Roy at Rutnin a couple of times, instructed to check back now and then to see if the conditions worsens.

Nice guy, seems quite knowledgeable, great English.

Thanks for this. I did consult Dr Roy and agree with you about his qualities. However i still want a second opinion especially as my insurance does not cover Rurtnin Hospital. -

  7. If you really have a valid visa a re entry permit is not required.

My visa is valid and real and I have read about the need for such a permit and in fact got one at the airport last year when I was on the same visa and left Thailand to go on holiday. So I a not sure what you're trying to say.

Where did you get the "visa" from ?

A Thai Embassy or Consulate outside Thailand or from a Thai immigration office ?

    CW Immigration
