Hey Yorkie, you need to install flash on android to view the cams. However, you've just give me an idea... We will look to see if it's possible to build an app.

We've just launched our updated site with personalised pages for each camera, along with a bigger video window.
We added more information about each site, including location map and contact details.
Go to http://www.samuiwebcam.com and hit F5 to refresh your browser - Enjoy!
Cheers,
Matt.

Wow. Looks like both 3BB & TOT are down island wide this morning. Looks like it happened around 4.30am.
-
We have a live cam at Crystal Bay. We're currently having some bandwidth issues with the connection there, so at times the camera is pixelated. We're working to resolve this soon.

Unfortunately, we're back to the old problem we used to have with distance/loss of signal due to distance from the DSLAM (Phone exchange)
A few years ago, the DSLAM's around the island were far and few between. This meant the ADSL line from your house to the DSLAM was a long reach and this resulted in high attenuation and a low signal. This can be read in your modem's status page.
You want to look for the SNR (Signal To Noise Ratio) Ideal is 20 or above. 10-15 is OK(ish) Anything less than 10 can suck. I've even seen readings of 3 when I lived out at Chansuwan and TT& T ran me a 3km line which we ran at 3Mbps.
Also, the maximum speeds years ago were around 5Mbps. So even if you were 2km from the exchange you could still make an SNR of 10 at 5Mbps and obtain a pretty stable connection.
Anyway, along came 3BB/TOT and installed more DSLAM's around the island and this decreased the cable length, dropping our attenuation and increasing our SNR. Perfect. They also changed over to ADSL2.
Then they started upping our speeds... They bumped everyone up to 10Mb which was fine, but now they're really pushing the limits with their recent upgrades.
For example, anyone on the 13Mb connection for 1,000 Baht/Month now gets a 15Mb connection. However for the 15Mb connection they set the modem sync speed to 18Mbps (17917 kbit/s) which can really push your connection if you're far from the DSLAM. Before, at 13Mb, my modem's SNR was around 15 which was fine. However, now at 18Mb my SNR is 9.
So unfortunately 3BB are shooting themselves in the foot by giving away all this extra bandwidth. They should really spend their money on a fiber optic network for Samui and International bandwidth.
In my opinion 3BB is still the fastest ISP in Thailand.
I hope this clears things up a little.
All the best,
Matt.

Does anyone know where I can get a tail-tidy for the 2011 Ninja 650?
I was looking on e-bay, they're around 5,000 baht to order. Just wondering if they're any cheaper to buy here in Thailand.
Thanks,
Matt.

Gulf,
It's Matt here from Bluechip. Sorry about the late reply, I haven't logged in here for a while as I'm flat out with work.
Why do you need such a fast upload? The main question is what are you uploading and to where? The geographic location is very important here. If you want to transfer files to an office in Bangkok, then you'll be fine, however going outside of the country is a nightmare. The International Gateway speeds here aren't great and speeds also vary ISP to ISP.
We have hardware available than can connect together multiple lines. It isn't true bonding, but we use Mikrotik's PCC. This works for both download and upload. We can connect any number of lines. At many of our customers site we use 5 x 13Mb 3BB lines for speed as primary connection and a TOT or/and CAT fiber for redundancy. This gives the best speed and also the best protection in that your connection will still run as long as one ISP is still up.
With regards to power outages, I run all my equipment at wireless sites on UPS's. If you're just running a modem and wireless router, a 500VA (We only recommend APC brand) will last around 3-4 hours. I have a 3.5VA at home and this will run equipment for around 24 hours.
During the 4 day power outage earlier in the month, two of my sites stayed up through the entire 4 days. These sites both had CAT fiber lines and the site also had its own generator. All my sites using 3BB and TOT went offline due to their infrastructure failing. 3BB first, then TOT.
If you have any more questions, drop me a PM.
All the best,
Matt.

Hello Sponsor,
Thanks, I love your Cameras, especially TM and Bubba's.
Do you plan to install other cameras on beach road?
Thanks
Thank You. Hopefully we can install more cameras as time goes on. We'd really like to get one in Fisherman's Village.

Does this website not work with an i pad ?just a blank picture!
It should work with iPad as we use HTTP Live Streaming for Apple Devices. What IOS version are you using?
-
That is cool!....are you planning anymore cameras?
Yes, we're actually installing one tomorrow morning at Crystal Bay. It has amazing beach view, crystal clear waters - probably one of the best beaches on Samui!
We're also hoping to install one at a local Muay Thai camp (which should be excellent!) and also in Fisherman's village.

There is a thread on the same subject running on the Samui forum, personally any bar that puts one of these in has seen the last of me. Seeing people enjoying private fun probably unaware its being broadcast around the world is not good in my book. Technology gone to far for this dinasour.
Thanks for you reply. This is the reason we don't have a camera inside, the camera is outside in a public area.

Hello Everyone!
We are a new site bringing you live webcams from around Koh Samui.
We did actually start advertising with ThaiVisa on Tuesday, however due to Sod's law, Samui suffered a four day power outage...
I'm glad to announce the power has been restored and 6 of our 7 cameras are back online.
I hope you enjoy our beautiful island, I've attached a picture from one or our live cameras with a stunning view of the island.
Please take a look at our site here:
All the best,

Hello Everyone...
Can you believe it?... The morning we started advertising with ThaiVisa, the power failure happened. LOL.
Anyway, now the power is back we have 6 out of 7 cameras restored. Here's a picture of our beautiful island from our camera at the Jungle Club.
We will be featuring a new camera at Crystal Bay within the next couple of days. Hold tight.
Cheers,
Matt.

Samuiwebcam - Updated Site
in Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, Koh Tao
Posted
We put a lot of work in to being able to stream to the iPhone. It works very well. Unfortunately Android is quite different and difficult to do, but an app might solve this issue.
Glad everyone is enjoying it, we're hoping to add a new site by the end of this month and a couple next month.
Opl - no plans to do any sounds. I think the last thing you'd want to hear from a street cam is "Maassssssaaaaaaaaggeee....." or "Hey... Where you go?..."
