Hi
I like InDrive, but we just discovered that the "offer your fair" option disappeared yesterday and hasn't come back...
There's seem to be more options on the actually type of car now...
Cant find any news on the change either...

VFS cannot update you with any further information. They are as useful as a chocolate fireguard in this situation.
Only the British Embassy can shed light on your situation, they have her passport and that is where the process is being conducted and decision making takes place.
Thanks, I'll see if I can get anything out of the Embassy on Monday....

VFS is an agency for collection of Visa applications.
Standard applications usually take no longer than 10 working days, unless they are making enquires about some information you supplied.
The British Embassy now have her Passport and have to hold it until the process is completed.
You can request return of the Passport but that will halt the process and you then have to make a new application.
VFS cannot help with your enquiries. I suggest you contact the British Embassy to highlight your problem.
Do not expect a reply as to how the application is progressing.
You'll probably get a simple it takes as long as it takes, or do you want to stop the process and we'll return the Passport.
If you paid this fee, something definitely wrong. It guarantees a 3-5 day turnaround.
They send SMS messages to update...…….are you sure she hasn't given them a wrong number.
Again contact the British Embassy over this concern.
Thanks, Yes her mobile number's OK as we received one SMS on the day we went to VFS ...
(And she went into VFS in person on Friday which is now 15 working days...)

To the OP: I thought VFS provided an option (at increased cost) to retain your passport while the visa application was processed. Has this option been discontinued?
I'm not sure actually, maybe I'll pop back in on Monday to VFS and see where it is ....

It will be 500 baht of overstay for every day she goes past her permit to stay date. There is no grace period.
She should inform VFS of the problem to try and get her passport back as soon as possible.
Thanks UJ,
Yeh she's informed them but they say she just has to wait for the passport to come back and then they'll SMS here ...
(It's been 3 weeks now)
I guess if anyones reading this now of in the future and applying for a UK Visa , be prepared to wait for more than 3 weeks for your passport to come back...
Ps And Dont bother using VFS VIP processing which cost us an additional 3,400thb

Hi Gents
My girlfriend is on an Ed Visa, has to go next week for her 60 day stamp/Visa extension to Changwattana
She applied to VFS for a UK tourist visa a couple of weeks ago and went to collect her passport today as previously instructed by VFS but was told it had not be returned to VFS yet.
Does she have any options except to just sit and wait for VFS and pay the 500thb daily "overstay" when she does go Changwattana next ie when her passport is returned to her?
BTW her school say no options, there'll be a 500thb per day fine ! Although I guess she may have one weeks grace period perhaps...
Cheers in advance,
SB.

Yup, my post was specifically about their Grand Opening event for the store though, freebies, wine tasting etc. Not whether the store is open / stocked or not.
I wasn't disagreeing with you in any way, just adding a bit more info as I've been missing the old Ambassador Villa since the day it closed ....

And check you're not getting one of those wonderful 30+30+30 year leases which are actually NOT legal but sold everywhere .....
and therefore you might get the whole 90 years deemed VOID by the courts as has happened before ...

Morning !
Quick update for any noobs who need to get Thai kids Passports :
Today, Monday morning, Popped down to Phuket City Hall as per Ubonjoe (and Google Maps).
It was raining so took almost an hour from Cherngtalay on a Monday Morning (Mainly Heroines traffic)
Arrived circa 8.45am, circled the car park twice then parked outside on the road.
Showed Tabiian Baan, Daughters Thai Birth Certificate and Mum & Dads passports at the entrance
Was No.16 in the Queue. Guess they started at No.1 cos 5 minutes later we were being processed.
510 minutes later Paid the 1040thb, passport will be EMS posted.
Easiest thing I've ever achieved in Thailand in 14 years I'd say...
Now for the UK Passport ...
Agree with BOB12345 above, ie smiles all round and perfect service ...
Cheers,
SB.

Hi,
Lost an Onkyo Amp/Receiver last week and the TV has gone really strange recently (Wifi not working, Internals speakers sound strange and now it turns itself on and off randomly)
Can anyone recommend a decent surge protector (something that stops working when it cant protect anymore perhaps.)
And where I get order it ...
My current one is a Belkin.
Cheers

I never was able to get taxi from them via their app. Works poorly and nobody ever answered the phone. Why would this change because if "ViP car"?
I'm used them a fair amount, always been fine. Nice clean cars, drivers in silky jackets !
They always arrive early when pre-booking.
Did have one problem once when I booked a very early taxi and they cancelled it !

So it will be about 500thb from Sukhumvit Terminal 21 (+tolls)
Pretty good as most taxis quote me 400thb anyways !
All Thai Taxi are a good company, nice taxis, polite drivers, you can also request English speakers I seem to recall.
I meant to say to Don Muang Airport...

Rather than rip up the entire tile floor, perhaps just remove a one foot strip all around, it might even be possible to re lay that one foot strip to cover the Sikalastic?
Hi Simoh
For my first attempt I was thinking of doing a Sikalastic strip (two coats with the tapes in between) on top of the tiles about 10cm high up the walls and 10cm wide on the floor ie cover one tile...

I'm no expert, but the guy is talking the building is a shop house and the way they are build and I have one build that I rent out. They use these cement pranks that are laid over creating a walking ceiling most likely the same for the roof. That being said between the pranks unless it is seal completely top and bottom water can leak between the pranks and also along the walls. As I've found even the smallest of a crack water will find it way into the crack even if hairline!
Most of these shop houses don't use their roofs in such a manner and certainly don't sheet rock their ceilings under those cement prank roofs, thus the complain most likely sheet rock is now molded.
Regardless of the expensive tiles sitting water will get through the grout sooner or later since the building will settle and shift and the pranks will move creating cracks under the tiles and when that happens leaks.
If you were to rip the tiles off, caulk seal with what you want and let it sit for six months after time you will see what I mean.
My opinion the large area it might be impossible to stop any leak no matter what you use. Personally, I would lay another thin layer of cement smooth it out put a hard sealer over it when cracks start to show up just fill them in and seal the area again yes constant maintenance.
Good luck!
It was a shop house in the old days (20 years ago) but then gutted 10 years ago, concrete planks are used internally. Roof in question is a concrete slab.
I'm thinking Sikalastic Roofseal the edges all the way around and see how it fairs over the next 6 months !
If not OK then yes I'll be ripping up the newish (expensive) rooftiles, thin layer of (waterproof ?) cement then sealant such as Roofseal ...
Just wish there was a Contractor who specialised in this !

1 Year Extension of Stay, Timing of Bank Documents (PHUKET)
in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Posted
Hi All,
So next week going for the usual 1 year Extension of Stay to my Custodian to Thai Child Visa.
Now I usually get this wrong so please help out if poss.
I go to SCB, get the required letter stating amount, and statement for in my case 1 month.
But I always seem to get the timings wrong on this.
Do I credit/debit say 100thb the morning before I ask SCB for the documents, but then sometimes they say it doesnt show up on the statements til later.
Should I do it the night/day/week before etc. If in case of week, dont use the account thereafter?
All tips greatly appreciated, I'm going for a 1 visit optimistic trip to Immigration but expect 3 to 4 trips!
And do I need to take my daughter with me now, last year a LIVE Video chat sufficed...
All the best,
Many thanks...
Regards,
SB.
