  1. Reading the Ministry article in English courtesy of Google Translate, I note the outpatient requirement is clearly stated as "...not less than 4 thousand baht..." not 40,000 baht as is being widely reported.  And still a lot to work out regarding implementation.  AAAND just had the wife read the original Thai article, and Google translate got it wrong!  40,000 baht outpatient it apparently is ????

  2. Our puss of 16 yrs passed recently and we sought out a subj service in the local area. Was pleased to find Thai Pet Care in Naklua, offering modest cremation svcs. Arranged a time with them, promptly got lost, and they kindly came to meet up and guide us to their facility. With monk, small ceremony, decent facilities and respectful owners, was a nice send odd for our little one. All in baht 3,200 including delivery the next day (picked up a lovely urn at the Sampeng market behind Big C mall 2nd road for under Baht 300). DON'T follow the FB location on their FB page, as you'll end up like us, lost like a golf ball in the high weeds. The Google maps location is completely accurate.

  3. For each of my three Non-O renewals the Cdn Embassy had me swear an oath to a statement that my income was $x,xxx per month. With that Statutory Declaration they provided me a letter of income for Thai Immigration. On each occasion I provided my income tax statements, which they referenced in the first and third letters but not the second. I've not been asked by the Embassy for income documentation, and couldn't find an indication on their website of supporting docs required for a letter of income. An email or call to them should clarify requirements.

  4. In to Chonburi Immigration 31 Oct 17 to inform of change of address. First move I've done here and all within this province, so did my due diligence as to required docs. Other than the form and a declaration of residence (same as used for my annual Non-O visa), I didn't find much guidance online, gov or expat sites. Could well have missed it though.

In any event, was processed at the same desk as per 90 day reports: told that my address had been updated in their computer, given a new green slip and date for my next 90 day report, but was then told to drop off the TM 28 at the office beside the entrance. Once there I was apprised of the additional need for copies of all pertinent passport pages (initial entry, re-entry, dep card, Non-O visa), residence owner blue book, owner Nat'l ID, and owner statement as to my residing in the residence. As two hours had passed at this point and patience was wearing thin, I elected to come back the next day and bring the wife as well.

The next visit saw lots of frustration from the many folks crammed into the little office, so suspect all this may be a new measure. Was more difficult and time consuming than doing the one year visa renewal, but with all forms in hand, signed, and the wife at hand, all was good after some 15 minutes.

**Of note however was the officer's direction to us as she handed my passport back. From now on when I did my annual visa renewal, she indicated my wife would need to come with me to certify my residence.

With that I wished another very frustrated gent chok dee and took my leave. Again this may or may not be a new measure and of course unique to the Chonburi (Jomtien) office, but as I found precious little info online to prep for this, I offer my experience as a heads up to others facing a move and/or renewal of their Non-O visa.

    Regards

  5. Just got my one-year license today from the Pattaya/Banglamung Land Transportation Office. Went last week and was told all paperwork was in order, with the exception of an "embassy guarantee" of my driver's license. This wasn't on any list I'd checked of req'd documents, but I dutifully did a day-trip to the Canadian Embassy to obtain same. My embassy had never heard of this requirement either, but for baht 600 provided me a Certified True Copy of my original license.

Back today anticipating a long day of tests and waiting. Did the colour and reaction tests, paid baht 205, and then had my picture taken and five minutes later was presented with my new license. Three hours all told, and mostly waiting. No computer test and no parking lot practical! Guess the Land Transport Office was getting overwhelmed trying to administer essentially unnecessary tests to so many foreigners. I did note that one computer room was full of Thais apparently taking the multiple choice test, but for now at least this has been waived for foreigners in favour of the so-called embassy guarantee. Noted as well that non-English licenses needed to be translated into English.

  6. I know I was blown away when my wife's family expected me to eat before them and alone. Thais have an entirely different perspective on interpersonal interactions from us westerners (hi so/lo so), which my wife explained as their just being very careful to avoid giving offence. I'd recommend being a gracious host when she visits, and recognize that - given she has limited experience with foreigners - she is treating you with the same respect/distance she would accord her sister's husband if you were Thai. Good luck, and I know it ain't easy!

  7. I divorced (uncontested) in Canada after marrying in Thailand, and the divorce was done at the Thai Con Gen in Vancouver for free. We were told however that we both needed to be present to sign the docs. Given your circumstances I concur with the recommendation to get legal advice and to also give the UK Thai Consulate a call.

  8. What a banana republic... Who is supposed to protect voters and make sure they exercise their right to vote?

    Unbelievable.

The police are moving now on one mob.

The fascist spokesperson for PDRC is bleating on Twitter that they are being attacked. Big cheer went up all down Rama 3 area when MCOT showed the PDRC getting a kicking.

Might be a lot more of this if they not careful

Too bad the police and/or army didn't move to keep the two sides apart to begin with. Not like this couldn't have been anticipated.

  9. Just brought my cat into BKK from Canada on United and highly recommend them as well. No problems at taking her as carry-on, and transit through security checkpoints during layovers and entry through Suvarnabhumi was easy. As you'll be taking your pup as checked, again I recommend United as they own the airframes for all legs of their flights into Thailand and control the process. Your only concern would be when you transit through Narita/Incheon/HK as they all apparently require checked baggage pets be handled by shipping agencies. This may add to your costs and should be researched before you book. Another poster already mentioned a site for the required vaccination forms.

United Airline agents should also be available just after passport control to help with translating and directions.

    Good luck!
