I just don't get it. a foreign news agency has the news about thailand bombings where as none of the thai newspapers have no details about this. and thai newspaper (bangkok post) needs refer to that foreign news agency's news as the source of this kind of newses.

don't they have enough sources to verify the news internally from their own country..??

is it some kind of sabotage attempt??

I entered a verbal agreement to rent a house in Pattaya. The landlord wanted a 6 month contract. I gave him about 3 months rent and a little more (9K a month; 35K total). I stayed there only 2 weeks before I realized it was not right place for me. Now he refuses to return any of the deposit. He claims that this is the way it is done here.

He is no pauper by any means.

So. ... Is he right? If I am entitled to a return of some of the deposit, is there like a small claims court or arbitration. Open to suggestions.

This is a common phenomena in Thailand. Me as a student, had a one year contract, even though we wanted to leave the house, we couldn't because of the contract. and we full filled the one year. but when we were leaving, the owner asked us to paint the whole freakin' house. We did... so.. but didn't get an penny back of the deposit amount that we gave.

for your case.. i don't think you can force a local to get the refund. if he is kind hearted (which seems he is not) they will refund you with no question.

my suggestion is that you, yourself look for someone who is interested in taking that house. And ask them to give you the advance deposit instead of giving the owner.

had a bad experience b4.. so best thing to do is never go for a long term contract.. and if u do .. try to check the place properly.. and judge yourself if you really wanna stay there or not..

I've read a few threads saying it is possible to transfer funds from PayPal to AsianPay, I contacted AsianPay and got a reply in broken English saying roughly that they DONT except PayPal deposits.

Help! Anyone know what the answer is to accessing funds from Thai PayPal! Really wanna get something going on ebay!

BTW not interested in these 'pay money open a US account' schemes! I have an account with Bangkok Bank but they say I can't open an account in thier US branch.

u may try SuperRich.. at Prathunam. They give the best rate as far I have seen. the place is just opposite to Fashion World or ex World Trade Center. Its black market though.

I think, a simple solution for this problem can be compulsory submission of Police Clearance with all other documents in all the immigration offices. So no terrorists, murderers, or other sort of offenders will be able to leave their country and hide themselves in other countries. The visa applicant should as well submit Police Clearances from all those countries where he has visited at least once and stayed there for more than 3 months.

Think for a moment that 2,000,000 sq feet of land alone, gonna cost them around $200million only.

1- first, How they can build such large projects with such little money?

2-secondly, New airport has been build not very far from Rama 9, and land prices are increasing

Thaivisa had always been a site where people can share their opnions freely, but sure that freedom should have some limit. Anyway, as like all other religions Islamic society also has the good, the bad and the ugly. But I don't understand, why educated peoples like you are overwhelmed with the believe that Islam is all about extremists and their doings.

1.Every type of non-immigrant visa can apply for a work permit [except non-imm O-A for retirement visa].

2.You can use your non-imm ed visa with your work permit to apply for one year extension based on Business.

3.No need to leave the country , No need to change type of your visa .

Hi All,

I am a student at ABAC. And I just joined a company to work for. The company has already given my the work permit. But my visa status is Non-Immigrant with 'ED' category. Now, I was being informed that the company cannot extend the visa if the category is ED. They have suggested me to go out of Thailand and get a new Non-immigrant visa with 'B' category. But this is something very much troublesome.

Can I change the Category of my visa from Non-Immigrant Ed to Non-immigrant B type without leaving Thailand?

Or the can the company can still extend my visa even though it is a Non-immigrant ED category?

Any help regarding this will be very much appreciated.

wish they do the same for the Non-Immigrant Ed (student) visa. the number of the foreign students studying here in Thailand has increased enormously in recent years. I am sure a lot of tourists will start to do the illegal use of this visa type to increase their length of stay. Here in Thailand, false business documents are just matter of money to get.
