- I believe Siemans no longer makes hearing aids.
- DMed Pattaya on Sukhumvit is excellent. I have bought 3
- hearing aids and “Fang” or “Mukda” are both great.
- The new Widex ‘Moment Aids” are fast and clear snd
-
probably the latest in the market.
dMed is directly across from Pattaya Orphanage...

Health insurance is just too expensive so I have been taking my chances.
I am from San Francisco and still have an address there. I am now 85
and have lived in Thailand for 24 years.
So far so good.
If I require hospital care, I hope to quickly end it there.
i have no health complaints and take no medication. lucky lucky......

I am retired from San Francisco and have lived in LOS for 25 years.
I LOVE San Francisco but I would never go back to live there. I am single and with all the restrictions and laws, the States pose a boring life. Thailand has nightlife, a free spirit, good weather and lots of things to do for an older guy.
I live just outside Pattaya where good restaurants are cheap and plentiful, friendly gals greet you with smiles and companionship, and the cost of living is far less than what I was used to.
Many of my friends who have come to visit me are now living here.
Even with the tightening of Immigration enforcement, Thailand provides a safe and comfortable place to live.

I am from SF, Calif. and now live in Thailand. Sidewalks here are treacherous and unwalkable. So I pay for the gym at Marriot (expensive) but the treadmill works well. I do an uphill walk three times a week for 40 minutes. (I am 84 next month).
After a morning stretch on the floor, I do my 40 minute treadmill.
So I am doing my best to avoid falls and to stay healthy.

Young people in Pattaya love to gun their bikes up sois along the Beach, modified bikes that roar loudly, many riders without licenses or helmets, including many Arabs & Indians. Many residents complain to no avail. I’m so glad that this is finally being recognized by the police and that they are trying to stop it.

Hi..I live in a small friendly town called Naklua, an offset to Pattaya.
I have lived here over 20 years, single and retired from San Francisco. I speak little Thai but am welcomed by everyone; lots of smiles.
Being close to Pattaya, I share good medical care, hospitals and excellent food outlets. My condo, which I bought 12 years ago, is on the beachfront with a fabulous view, 10 floors, 2 to a floor.
Most of my neighbors live in Bangkok and only come once or twice a year. I have kept my SF residence but rarely ever go back.
Weather here is perfect for an older person, food is light and healthy, and the cost of living is about half of San Francisco.
Why, aside from family, would I ever want to go back?
Sure, you need some cash to live here. The Kingdom does not want to pay your medical bills. Keeping 800K in a Thai Bank insures a trouble free immigration.
Overall, the freedom you enjoy here with little traffic enforcement allows a carefree existance. I drive slowly and carefully and have never had a motoring incident. And I am 83.
For those seeking to retire and live a happy, low expense existance, I could not be happier living in LOS.

Anyone who is able to digest the pure shit that Trump has dished out should be cast out on a leaky boat in the mid ocean.
I would always have doubts about the mental stability of a Trump backer.

Nope, you are responsible if you own a vicious dog (s). In this case of killing a little girl, dogs should be put down immediately.
Owner should be subject to a 100,000 Baht fine or jail term of 1 year.
Parents should be reimbursed for all medical/funeral costs.
Soi dogs should be gathered up, held for 30 days and terminated. They are exposed to catch rabies and are a danger to children and neighbors.
No country has as many loose soi dogs as Thailand.
VietNam has the answer.....

I have lived in Naklua, Wong Amat for 22 years. Originally from San Francisco. It is close enough to Pattaya for shopping & esentials but living in Naklua avoids the bars, drunks & night life. Beach is great and good restaurants abound. Home theft is virtually unheard of here.
The sleepy downtown Naklua has fairs, markets and waterfront seafood restaurants. AND peace & quiet.

Yes, you can open “either/or” accounts in Thailand but they are meaningless. I opened my accounts with my stateside daughter but when I went to withdraw, Bangkok Bank said it takes both signatures.
They do NOT recognize Either/Or Accounts...

Not surprising. Thai Insurance companies never like to pay claims.
They love to collect premiums but always try to sneak out of
paying any claims.

I live nearby LC and take several cruises.
Usually there is an Thai Immigration Officer who comes aboard the Ship who can issue Visas.
If not, there is an Immigration Office in nearby Jomtien that can help you.
You can drive your car inside LC and park near the Ship to meet arrivals.

Thailand needs to put aside beliefs and put to sleep the vast quantity of Soi Dogs to protect residents and visitors from a painful rabies death.

Very sad outcome for both families. I hope that the child is shown love and security by one of the grandparents.

Can you live independently?

I always admired my uncle while growing up. He never married, managed a radio station in Calif, and had
a life doing as he pleased. I modeled my life after him, although I married at 39 and had two daughters.
Divorced after 10 years, as we weren't getting along., I moved to Thailand in 1995.
Now i am 85 (86 nest week) and have lived alone for 26 years. I am used to being single and enjoy it.
I have a housekeeper who comes twice a week and i bought a condo and live on the waterfront in Naklua,
a small community near Pattaya. I have Thai woman friends who visit infrequently but I don't need a full
time companion now. My daughters come yearly for a visit and of course i miss them.
But I am happy and would not change my lifestyle. sanmyn at yahoo com for those who would like more
info on living in Thailand.
