Not true at all... A lot of parks these days enforce the foreign rate even if you present a Thai driving licence, work permit or yellow book..

Double pricing would be acceptable but x 10 !!!

That's right because after 20 years going to the same hot springs place, last time they refused to apply a 'local price' for me.. as my wife and kids are thais and I live here with all documents to show.

Things change and not for the best sometimes.

  2. I do it by car.. nice road trip !!!

As Avalon is often full, we booked at Joli guesthouse but when arriving with the kids we just had a "sorry, but your rooms have been given" ;(

But that was Luck in fact, we ended up on SenSabai in front of Mékong, best situation with food around, much more than around avalon.. night food market, plenty of bars and café and the bank next door. Swimming pool not far on the Spa nearby.

The prices are good. What's the import duty on this stuff?

Like almost everything not luxury here only 7% but it applies also on delivery fare.. expensive powder that Travel through the World, not really economic and super costly for the earth.

  4. I would recommand you to look first at all negative aspects of using whey protein from industrial factories :

    https://www.stylecraze.com/articles/unexpected-side-effects-of-whey-protein/#gref

and if you are interested in getting wheight then eat accordingly for that purpose, listen to pro builers that tells you NOT to buy supplements, they did the mistake long time ago and still pay the price in their body. Please do not to listen to pros that make money on advertisment for supplements brand.

All you need is good food, if you're looking for healthy life and longevity : stay natural and avoid all marketing food suplements and ask yourself

'If whey is the waste product of the cheese-making process, why is whey protein so expensive?'

on more article to read with real warnings : https://doctor.ndtv.com/living-healthy/7-little-known-harmful-side-effects-of-whey-protein-1800618

In fact the only interresting thing is the economy some people make on FOOD, buying whey instead of chicken.. but for vegetarians eggs are cheap, and for vegan: Beans, peas, corn is cheaper than whey, so why take the risk and loose money.. think smart !

Nope. I plan to do test drives in this weekend. They don't really look different inside and in terms of size, so I don't expect a huge difference in driving. They won't let hill drive test anyway.

I'll probably not like driving any of them but buying a pickup is the most logical choice here in provinces of Thailand (and yes Samui is pretty bad compared to Bangkok where I lived for 5 years)

You'll notice huge difference between all this trucks.. ans After that drive a sedan or suv, to be sure that it is the right choice for you

  6. There is not much to enjoy on SK area... The german restaurant is OK, Suan Pak Akhun is a décent thaï restaurant but inconstant quality.

Avoid tartar bistro and steak Kumpa like the plague.. or if you like sugar and Factory food then go there.

The best place closed by is at Promenda..like Duke, Ragu or Fuji.

San kampaeng is really Bad for good food.. only good thing is local food like noodle or Kao man kai, But there is this guy who grill on bbq veal meat and porc : excellent but not for noon because open only on afternoon.

You can still accomplish your goal (to get the driver to slow down).  You just have to learn to go about it a different way than in the western world.

For example, say that you have an irrational fear of riding in minivans.  Say your friend was in a tragic accident and now you have nightmares.  Get creative.  As long as you are not critisizing them, blaming them, trying to tell them what to do.  You get the picture.

That stupid dangerous potentiel Killer needs and deserve a lesson, next farangs might be less patient and punish him righthly...

Kia is surely a very good brand in car making, the Carnival is a great vehicule with no bad surprises.

I actually enjoy very much driving the Toyota CH-R with hybrid engine, luxury interior ans real comfort on the road with still some fun if you want to.

  9. Mission Done, but of course not without surprises !!

After 40mn waiting  for making this "Special Photo Session" they discovered that the software would not allowed them to take my pic... because of the adress I lived in is from Lamphoon district and not Chiang Mai... That means I lost 4h30 over there for nothing , because at the end they just canceled the extension already filled in the passport, gave me back all the money : 1900 + 500 overstay fine + 1600 TM30 fine.

Then I went to Lamphoon immigration office, just above the feet of the Huge golden monk on the doï, There was a small dedicated team that did all the job (that Chiang Mai one did in 4h 30mn) just in 20mn chrono !! with the smile and relaxed like a Zen master ^p

And on top of That He explained me that Chiang Mai office usually overcharge the penalty for the TM30.. he just ask me 800thb instead of 1600thb : that's a good one.

This office opened 2 years ago and if your adress allowed it : GO there, it's the best service available : fast and nicely done !

Now I am good until 22 october.

Than you again Tanoshi for sharing advices and your experience.

What did you state on the form?

    Should have stated 60 days.

    Reason of extension.

    Visit Thai wife.

    Let's hope common sense prevails.

I did Ask for 60 days on the first place and explain with my wife why i missed to renew in time, we talked with 3 different officers from different bureau...All said 7 days permitted only even After begging them, Lucky that the Boss is a Smart Guy and understand the case fully....

    Still waiting ...

There is no 30 day extension for a non immigrant visa possible.

There is only a 60 day extension for those married to a Thai or have a Thai child.

Is it possible for a 12 months non O  visa  already finished today to be extented tomorrow in chiang mai for 60 days more when married to a Thai and  have a Thai child?

I tought it was written 28_ not 23 on the last stamp from Mae Sai^^ and I would like to avoid paying 2000 Thb in Savannaket on monday then.

  12. To start with, going to a supermarket like tesco  is already a big show off for many locals.. and buying single items is not as good as buying Specials "Value ?" Pack.. and have no problem paying for that, after all the package should cost too and many times it's well decorated like a 4 pack of chang in 7/11.. lol

Buying in small portions on the local market is normal, to have a price you need to be a Big player, But buying BIG packs of manufactured products in modern shops just help your reputation of being wealthy and will impress your guest when you'll bring chips and beers, that has a cost that people are willing to pay ?

That's why here I buy my dry nuts in small metal pack instead of big sachet, more convenient and cheaper ?
