  1. My girlfriend was granted a 10 year tourist visa for the US two years ago.  On the visa she is limited to 6 months stay per visit.

We flew to the US and she was given 6 months stamp.  We stayed three months and returned to Thailand.

We we returned to the US about three months later, she was only given a 30 day stamp, with no explanation.

We're concerned about making any longer term plans to visit or travel the US in case she only gets 14 day stamp or perhaps denied entirely.

We assumed (incorrectly) that every visit would entitle her to a six month stamp.

Does anyone have information or experience on why her visa would not give her a 6 month stamp for every entry as long as she have never overstayed (she has not).

    Thanks!

  2. I live in Chiang Mai and plan to apply for a Chinese visa at the local consulate.  They require a flight booking as part of the application process.

Typically I would just purchase the ticket in advance without worry, but because I overstayed a previous China visa five years ago (10 day overstay) and the visa was voided, I'm hesitant to purchase the flight before obtaining a new visa.

So... what is the recommendation to get a temporary flight booking?

I've attempted to find first class fully refundable flights but from many carriers but found nothing.

There's also services that will create a temporary 24 or 48 hour flight booking, but I'm not sure that's enough time as the application process can take 5 biz days.

Are there any agencies in CM that will create the booking for a longer time frame for a fee?

    Thanks!

  3. Should have added this flight is on a Wednesday.

I've done this trip many, many times but always 3 days, 2 nights to get it done.

What would an agent do for me that would save time to ensure I get to the embassy from the bridge by 11am at the latest?

I've never pre-arranged any agents or transportation, so that's possibly an issue:

a ) will there be vans available at the airport at 7am

b ) will there be taxi/tuk tuk available at 8am from the border to the embassy

  4. Hi All,

If I arrive at the Udon Thani airport at 7:10am, would I likely be able to get to the Thai embassy/consulate in Vientiane in time to apply for a tourist visa?

It seems like plenty of time given the early hour with less traffic to border and less waiting at border control, but maybe I'm missing some aspect.

I'm attempting to accomplish a two day, one night round trip to get a new visa.

    Thanks!

  5. Last week of March I have an Airasia flight arriving at 1pm on a Wednesday to KL2.  The only other flight available to my destination on the same day is Airasia at 3pm also from KL2.  Really would like to make the same day flight, if at all possible.

I have no checked bags and I'm a fast runner..

Am I likely to make the departing flight?   Or possible, but highly inadvisable?

    Anyone else done something similar?

If you want to know about certain visas, immigration allows this, or immigration does not allow that. The best thing to do to save a lot of hassle, is find out if the immigration office you are intending to use will do what you are looking for, as they all make up their own rules, and the best place to do that is here on this forum.

Yeah, that's exactly what I'm trying to do.

I intend to get a visa exemption at the Mae Sai border.  I'm asking if that's possible in 2017 now that they have adjusted the rules again to allow for 2 land border crossings per year.  Does this includ Mae Sai?

    That would be this post.

Until I see a post that somebody was able to do one I will stick to the info I have posted.

Yeah, basically same question I posted.

According to the latest from Thai Immigration, should be allowed a border crossing and visa exemption.  Even with word from Chiang Rai immigation officials, I still would like a confirmation from someone who's been there this year, allowed to cross out/in, and got their stamp.

  8. I'm trying to confirm whether Thai Immigration is now allowing tourists to do a land border crossing and re-entry without a pre-existing Thai visa.

Have read one or two messages on FB groups indicating this is now permitted.

Also read a posting indicating that immigration will now allow a maximum of two visa exemptions for land border crossings per year.  This would also include Mae Sai.

Can anyone confirm that this is true or relate a personal experience that they successfully got a stamp at this border in 2017?

    Thanks!

  9. Hi,

We're a new donut shop in Chiang Mai and we're on the hunt for those classic pink donut boxes found in the States.  We've had some difficulty finding them in CM but think it should be possible.

Any suggestions on cardboard box manufactures in the area that could do more than the basic brown boxes?   If not CM, then any BKK leads could be useful too.

    Examples attached.

Would really appreciate any leads or advice.  Our biz is called Pink Box Donuts... but didn't realize how difficult it would be to source them.. haha.

  10. How much time should I allot myself to get through KL customs and immigration so I get back on my return flight to Chiang Mai?

    Options are..

    1hr 20m

    OR

    3hr 10m

    OR

stay overnight which I'm trying to avoid via the first two options.

    Do the 3h 10m option.

KL airport is efficient, but 1h 20m is cutting it too close. If both airlines depart from KLIA2 (the low cost terminal), and you can check in online to print a boarding pass for your connecting flight, then you have a some chance of making it within 1h 20min. At KLIA2, there's a long way from gates to immigration and back (how fast can you run ~3km?), and it's still not certain that you'd make it, a flight may get slightly delayed or you might take a wrong turn or find a long immigration/customs/security queue. If one flight is at KLIA1 and other at KLIA2, you need to take a train between terminals (and a far longer walk), so no chance of making it.

Overnight option is not horrible, a bus to the city costs only 10 RM (100 baht) and there are OK hotels starting from 60 RM (500 baht). KL is not a terrible city to find yourself in, and personally, if I were to spend ~$150 on flights, I'd add extra $30 and take a look around, if nothing else just to see that funny light show waterfall under Petronas towers, and get some great and cheap Indian food. Far less stress too.

    Thank you! Very helpful.

I've never been to KL. Do you have a recommendation on an area I should stay in or even a specific guesthouse?

  11. May I suggest you to just cross the border at Chiang Khong to Laos for a 15 days or 30 days , 30 days for a G7 country and 15 for others .

Chiang Khong border cross is as close to Chiangmai as Mae Sai is , both in Chiangrai province . At Mae Sai they do not allow but to Laos THEY DO ......

So I might make you save a trip to KL.....................

Thank you, that would perhaps an option for next time.

The flights are $150-175 RT, I'd estimate sometime similar with the trip Chiang Khong for petrol, accommodation, Laos visa, etc. Perhaps not quite as much, but it would def kill two full days. At least flying I can get some work done.

  12. If I had the choice, I would choose the 3 hours turn around.

Your can even enjoy a meal at the airport and if the CNX-KUL flight is a bit late, you have nothing to worry about.

The low cost terminal is new and well organized The only thing I could not find is a restaurant to have a beer. But it was last year..

But, in the supermarket they had a little food corner with beer available to drink on site.

Thanks, that's helpful and what my common sense tells me at well.

I just have a few days left to fix this so I'm not going to chance another land border crossing at Chaing Khong, maybe next time

If anyone has done a same day from CM or BKK to KL and had any issues of any sort, that would be great to know.

  13. I don't absolutely insist same day, but it seems do-able and same day would be less disruptive to the projects I have going on next week.

I'm using a site called Kayak, so they're combining flights from different airlines.

    Option1 (1h 20m turnaround)

    09:10 CNX 13:00 KUL 2h 50m

    14:20 KUL 16:00 CNX 2h 40m

    Option 2 (3h 10m turnaround)

    09:10 CNX 13:00 KUL 2h 50m

    16:10 KUL 20:55 CNX 5h 45m

Looks like Option 2 would be more feasible in terms having some buffer time and no stress. Just thought it worth asking about both and if the second option is for some reason not feasible, I'd really like to know that before I book tomorrow.

  14. Since land crossing border runs are out (at least nearest to Chiang Mai), I need to fly out and return to get another visa exemption + extension, then I'm out for many months.

I don't have many options for same day flights except to Kuala Lumpur.

There are two flights available, one with a 1h 20m turnaround and another with a 3hr turnaround. I really would prefer the shorter turnaround as both of those flights are non-stop, but just doesn't seem like enough time to go through immigration/customs and get back on the return flight within 80 mins (no checked bags of course).

So I'm wondering *could* I make the 80 min turnaround work or not enough time?

Secondly, then would 3 hours provide enough time?

Otherwise I'm looking at an overnight stay, not the worst thing in the world but will avoid if I can.

Anyone done this or something similar?

    Thanks!

  15. Just to clarify: I am not looking for specific pharmacies or anything illegal.

    OK!

After getting back into exercise and weightlifting, my old old high school and college back/hip injuries have really come back with a vengeance, so I'm making little progress.

I'm looking for clinics, doctors, hospitals in CM that might specialize in testosterone/hormone replacement to see if I could benefit from these treatments. The Internet offers massive amounts of info and I'm sure I could try to figure it out myself, but I'd like to work with a doc to figure out some treatment options.

Can anyone recommend doctor's who speak decent English who offer testing/treatment for hormone/testosterone replacement?

Even better, if you have personal experience with these, please PM me.

Trying to ensure I do this the safe and legal way, any information is appreciated.

    Thanks!
