If the government is interested in keeping English teachers then perhaps they should set up their own division instead of relying on agencies to supply labor to schools. Why not have the school deputy sight incoming teachers work permits and visas. The whole system has failed with little or no checking in place. At the same time how about developing a national English curriculum so students and teachers have a standardised framework. Poor teacher retention rates, unqualified teachers, working illegally, low English literacy. Appalling.

Chinese woman said she had come to Thailand to make a living, not to commit any crime.
Woman considers working illegally is not a crime. Complete Ignorance. Much complaining on Thaivisa over recent months.
All these people writing posts filled with unqualified interpretations of law and talking about the good old days need to wake up.
Can't understand why tourists and such come here by choice then complain about the rules. Accept them or move on.

Listen to all the stubborn fools on here saying they are going to disregard the directive to carry their passport with them and choose to pay the 2,000 baht fine as a means to protest. Good luck to you all.

Quizzed for visa extension for non-ED
in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits

I am surprised the extension was approved and in reference to follow up posts so are many other people. The ED visa was a good scheme to stay in Thailand and now competency is being challenged students who did little or no study will have a tough time passing the test, regardless of how low the standard is set as demonstrated by the OP.
