I've seen this insurance policy on Thailand COVID Insurance Compare for Thailand Pass (asq.in.th) and appears to be by far the cheapest. Is it recommendable? What if you're already an expat on a non-immigrant "O" marriage visa without health insurance; is it possible to travel out of Thailand and use this policy for the Thailand Pass for the remainder of my 1-year-extension till it's due?
Or do I have to take out expat long term health insurance? How much coverage is required for Non-Immigrant "O" marriage/spouse/family? $20.000 (฿600.000) or as much as the O-A visa: $100.000 (฿3.000.000)?

First: is it allowed to advertise here? Or does this have to placed in classifieds?
If yes:
I'll sell it cheap because I'd like to 'get rid' of it. Can't take it with me, too big for others in the family, they've already got a Honda Wave. Don't wanna leave it home, because it'll stand in the way and will just rust away.
If you're interested please let me know. Can probably sell it by the end of june-first two weeks of July.

I live in Buri Ram Province, Lamplaimat District (Amphur) - approx. 30 km from Buri Ram city.
-
Anyone about what I could do with the bike? Donate or sell it? Who's possibly interested?
-
I bought my Tiger Boxer 200 in 2006 with double diskbrake at my dealer, PS Leasing across Rajaphat University in Buri Ram. It's done about 45000 km and it still works pretty well. Pretty sturdy, but it has various weaknesses and quality issues. The engine is pretty good and overall the does better than I thought it would.
My dealer told me that the company of Tiger, Thai Motorcycles, has stopped producing motorbikes. Does someone know something about this rumour? When and why did they stop production? Have they stopped definitely? Or have they set up a new company instead?
In about 9 months I want to leave (my Thai) home and go and live in a Buddhist monastery. I think about selling the bike or perhaps offering it to a collector or museum (Jesada Technik Museum??). Could anyone advise me on this? Or might someone of you on Thaivisa be interested in buying for a low price?
They proceeds will all go to making merit (tam bun) anyway. How much could I ask, since I don't know whether parts are still available.

Thanks for the info. I already have it on my computer and read some bits of it, but prefer a hardcopy book. You might be right that it could be hard to find a printed copy. I tried emailing them, but so far no reply yet.

I'm looking for the following book, but don't know where to get (or bucha) a printed copy:
The Biography of the Venerable Phra Acharn Mun Bhuridatta Thera
A Spiritual Biography by Acariya Maha Boowa ÑjanasampannoWho can help me with this?

The cleverest option is of course to let the obtention of the re-entry coincide with my 90 day report. Less risky, but that means we'll have to postpone the holiday.
Do you guys/girls know when it's less crowded or high/low season in Laos, now or in October? We like it quiet and cheap.
-
I'll ring them up! Thanks for the advice.
-
By the way I saw the following on the frontpage of the official Thai Immigration Bureau website:
You could apply a re-entry permit at every checkpoint. However at Suvarnabhumi Airport Checkpoint would provide this service if necessary depend on officers approval.
Is this still up-to-date? Someone with firsthand experience?
-
Sorry for my confusion of checkpoints and immigration offices. I've read on various forums that other people did get re-entry permits at immigration offices near the border. Will that possible for me too? I don't want to go all the way to my usual Immigration Office in Kap Choeng first, because it's a long ride (more than half a day): we live very close to Korat province.

We live in Buri Ram and are thinking about making a 2-3 day trip to Laos. It will be either to south Laos (Pakse and surroundings) or Vientiane.
I'm on a 1 year extension of my Thai spouse visa (non-immigrant "O"). Does someone know if you can get a re-entry permit at Chong Mek / Vientiane checkpoint? Or will I have to travel (all the way) to my nearest immigration office?

Making tempeh starter and tempeh myself now. Unfortunately not using organic beans yet, but I do plan to grow the beans myself in nearby future.
Nevertheless it's extremely cheap to make (beans are only 30 baht / kg and that gives you a lot of tempeh) and tastes great. Keep them in the freezing compartment.
Usually put them in banana leaves, so also environmentally friendly.

Tax payment is one of the things considered in the approval process so in most cases such payment would be an important consideration for PR application.' Married to a Thai national will offer eligibility to apply for permanent residency'.What about applying for PR while earning less than the required amount for paying taxes? I mean 15.000 a month.
Here where I live, in the boonies, I don't make much money as an English teacher, about the same as my wife who's a government teacher, but it's more than enough, because hardly any costs and we grow most of our own food. We live a simple life like most locals, with my Thai wife and son. I speak Thai fluently, can read it very well and write it. I'm also an active and devout Buddhist and do donations regularly. Any chances of applying for a PR or Thai nationality?
I'm Dutch by the way. Our family would have to be split up if I wanted to make more money and move to Bangkok instead. That's something we definitely choose not to.
My visa is a non-immgrant O and I do have a work permit.

I had to get in touch with the Teacher's Council because my school has sent all the necessary documents for applying for a waiver (officially called provisional teaching permit) by mail since March 31st, but no reply so far.
Today I tried to call them but it was very hard to get through.
Then I finally got the receptionist (at extension 503) and she gave me the following extension numbers:
538
02
283
6367
You've got to dial the following number first: 022804334, where the last number can be replaced by a 5 till 8. Usually 022804338 worked best. Then dial the extension after you hear the recorded tape being played.
Hopefully these numbers are of any help to other foreign teachers.
The outcome was unfortunately that my papers have disappeared and now the best thing is to go their by myself (from Buri Ram). No other choice it seems.
Good luck.

I was at Korat immigration, now at Dan Kwian pottery village, yesterday and asked for their address because I want to do the 90 day reporting through mail.
They said 90 days reports are possible by mail again!
Here there address is in both Thai and English:

Thank you so much for the valuable information. It's all I need to know. By the way I'll apply in Korat next Thursday and a friend told me I should get the letter about 1-2 days before, cause some banks don't seem to issue it right away. The bank is an upcountry branch and they are not likely to have much experience with visa applicants. I'll tell you afterwards how it went.
-
They are called "fixed deposit accounts" and are so marked on deposit slips at both Bangkok Bank and SCB. I expect if you are talking about a cash deposit of a fixed amount for a fixed amount of time it is the same.
Does anyone know what kind of proof of the 400k in a bank account Immigration wants?
I have a bankbook and heard from a fellow foreigner that it has to be updated 1-2 days before the application of the visa extension, by transfering or withdrawing a certain amount and update it afterwards.
He also told me immigration wants a letter from the bank.
What about the letter? What does it have to say? Can it be a print out from the bank account, or does it have to be a written letter by one of the bank employees?
Does it have to be addressed to Immigration, or can it be a general letter stating the current balance?
Anyone have an example letter for me please? Can't find any specifics.

Is it necessary to bring one's wife along to Immigration?
We usually deposit our savings at a Teacher Saving Cooperation, because my wife's a teacher and we're satisfied about them.
Is it possible for me to deposit my 400k at an account in my name at our local Teacher Saving Cooperation (http://www.br-tsc.com/view.php?id=5)?
Will Immigration accept that?
If not what kind of accounts at which banks will be accepted?

A few questions regarding the 1-year-extension:
- is it necessary to bring the wife or child to Immigration?
- if I apply for the extension around, let's say, March 2011 can we go on a holiday to my home country the next month, while the extension is under consideration? Provided I have a re-entry of course.
- Can immigration give the extension at the same day of application?

Why are so many people are mainly focused on IQ, as if other Q's don't matter What's the use of a high IQ, when for instance EQ (or perhaps SQ) is low?
How complete is this conclusion that iodine is needed for a higher IQ? It seems a bit too simplified. There's much more to IQ than just iodine I suppose.
Are you feeling alright?
Yeah I am. Haven't you heard of the theory of multiple intelligences from Howard Gardner for instance?
But perhaps this is not the right topic to discuss other theories on intelligence, so sorry for my going astray from the topic.
-
An amazing array of cynical responses here to what is a very simple solution to a perceived problem.
Adding minute quantities of iodine to things like fish sauce used by almost every Thai household is what is being mooted and that seems to have no negatives.
No one is saying it will improve school systems, national cultural traits or some forum members' cynicism but it will address some nutritional imbalances for many.
Well said!

So the 14 days gestation period means that you'll have to set the starting date of the policy 14 days before the actual date of entry to Thailand?
