Did you report in person last time? I'm wondering if it works if you've been out of the country prior to reporting.Although it never worked for me previously, I gave it a shot last night and the online application went through without any problem.
I received the approval notification by email this morning.
I did not get out of the country prior reporting. I also never report in person, always by post.

No Chiang mai mate can advise really? One of the immigration officers said that 7am is enough ... sounds late to get a morning queue!

It is time to renew my annual extension of stay for business purpose. I understand the old office still process business-related matters.
What time will I need to show up to be processed early in the morning? Last year I showed up at 4 in the morning and was not the first one. I am hoping that it will be less busy now that they moved some of their ops to promenada. Please advise.

Is there such thing as a retirement O-B visa?

I have successfully completed the on-line 90 day check-in today. I applied at around 1 pm and received the approval email at 5:15 pm. For anyone that is interested, I used the "Chrome" browser on my Mac.
Use the following site: http://extranet.immigration.go.th/pibics/online/tm47/TM47Action.do and disregard the statement about "IE" being the only supported browser and just press "OK and continue on"
I am still getting a " ... contact the nearest immigration office ..." popup after submitting the info on the first page. Has anyone else been successful with it?
That message means your record cannot be found. Myself and people from sll areas of the country are getting the same message.
When was your last entry? If years ago that could be the problem. Have you gotten a new passport since you last entry? If none of these are the problem it means their could be an error in the record.
OK and thanks, that should then be an error

Here is a link to an old thread, which answers the question. So it would appear that this can indeed be done under a Thai Sole Trader Business.
Just go to the final post in the link written by Arkadya
I have read that post too. What do you mean?

Any kind of partnership (ordinary and limited)? Would the foreigner need to be one of the partners?
-
Hello,I am just told that a foreigner married to a Thai person can apply for a work permit in order to work in her/his partner's business, even if the business is not registered as a partnership or corporation ... say a small restaurant.Never heard of this before ...If true, how does this work with taxes/social security? Same as if working for a company? I guess the business should at least run under a Thai Sole Trader Business, no?Thanks

in this context, it's a term of endearment

It doesn't help to be Indian in Thailand. I don't know why or if there is a historical background, but Thais distrust Indians.
Yet the Buddha was an 'Indian' and many of the religious statues around Bangkok are actually Hindu gods that Thais wai every time they go past. Yet they don't like Indians, says something about Thais more than Indians.
Well, technically Buddha was born in Nepal.

It seems that's what they are already doing, even for non BOI setups. I was issued with a brand new permit with a 2-years validity last month in Chiang Mai.
"...to attract more foreign investment."
Not certain about that. But now pay THB3000/year = THB6000, whether you want to work only one year on not.

I don't think they got you a work permit, did they?
Thanks Ubonjoe.
They did get me a work permit Alav - it's sitting on my desk in front of me. Would you like me to upload a picture of it?
What is the profession indicated on it?

The last 3 months of Por Ngor Dor 91, also Por Ngor Dor 50 and 30 and (if they are VAT-registered) Por Por 20.
But I am afraid you will need many more documents that these tax-related docs to secure an extension of stay.
Yes. I had to get a big stack of documents from the company when I applied for my 3 month Non-B the first time, there weren't any problems.
The documents that I am concerned about are the ones that specifically mention my tax payments and my social security payments.
You need to pay "Por Ngor Dor 91" (your personal income tax withheld at source) and "Prakan Sangkhom" (your social security) on a monthly basis. Normally the company would do this for you.3% withheld from your salary would indicate that you pay a tax for service / professional fee, rather than for an employment income. What profession is indicated on your work permit? -

In Chiang Mai:
- They now issue work permits for 2 years.
- The company officer or yourself can apply for the extension, but you need to show up at the immigration at least once for them to take your photography.

Thanks for the confirmation.

What is a non-immigrant O-B visa?Someone tells me you can work with such a visa in certain fields (sourcing, purchasing etc) without any work permit ... seems odd!
-
Once your WP is cancelled you will have to cancel your extension of stay at the immigration the very same day. To do that, bring the company letter that indicates your last day of employment, the labor office cancellation slip and your Phor Ngor Dor 91 tax document.
This is the procedure for a non-immigrant B visa, not sure it's necessary in your case.
Reporting address within 24 hours of arrival

The immigration officer in Chiang Mai told me back in November that it needs to be done every single time, even after a re-entry, but not necessarily within 24 hours. Shall I go report again when I re-enter, or is this just a waste of time? (I wouldn't want this to be an issue when I re-extend my yearly visa later this year.). Please advise!
