  1. Quick question as my mum and dad (Dutch) are coming to Thailand from 10 Jan till 20 Feb. That's more then 30 days....

At the moment they don't have a visa. So what's the best option? Fly in without a visa (so an arrival visa) that should get them 30 days.

They have already a return ticket but do they need to buy another ticket as proof that you gonna leave the country within 30 days?

And then get an extension at the immigration?

Or apply for a 60 day tourist visa in their home country?

Thanks in advance for some help.

  2. Last week I paid the 5000 baht at my school for my 90 days extension. The school brings the paperwork and your passport to the immigration.

The only thing I did was showing up at the immigration today, no cue number, just collect my passport with a 90 day extension, no questions asked.

In and out of immigration in 10 minutes.Perfect !

What did the 5000 Bht buy?

Extensions of stay cost 1900 Bht.

Care to mention where this "school" is based?

Yes, but you have to go to school. And if you're not attending class there is a chance you get only a 15 days extension.

I don't go to school so my 90 day extension cost more, but no hassle.

Sorry to say this but selfish people like yourself are the direct cause of many others experiencing difficulty.

What's my English study in Thailand got anything to do with being selfish and experiencing difficulty to others?

  4. Unless you are going to Savannaket for a visa related to marriage - you would be much better off taking the train direct to Nong Khai (north of Udon Thani) .... not to Ubon Rachathani ...

Cross over into Laos at Nong Khai -- process in - go to Vientiane - and the Thai Embassy there.

The evening train / night train from any station in Bkk will get you to Nong Khai in the early morning. Vientiane is less than 30 kilometers from Nong Khai.

You didn't mention the 250 people waiting in line for the Thai embassy in Vientiane.....

  5. I remember doing a search about this in my early days of being in Thailand.

Sorry, I can't post any links or back it up. But i remember reading that to get an ED to study English, you couldn't be from a native English speaking country.

Must be true, I'm Dutch and I have an ED visa (study English) in Thailand.

I can speak Dutch, English, German and a bit Thai. Plenty of foreign studies left LOL
