It doesn't look like a stall. I don't know the stall characteristics of the CTLS but I'll go out on a limb and - given it's a modern LSA - shoot for them being benign, meaning it's not prone to sudden / excessive wing drop in a wings-level stall. It's hard to tell from the video but the approach looked normal for RWY 05 at Bang Phra. The published approach to 05 requires a steeper than normal glide slope because of the wire hazards: there are the big and very visible HT wires but also a second set that run alongside the railway line just off the threshold. There is a basic VASI (glide slope indicator) for 05 because of this, clearly visible in the video at this link:
Whatever happened, RIP to a fellow pilot and deepest condolences to his family and friends.
I believe he hit the second lines clearly shown in the video. He had lots of forward speed so a aerodynamic stall or excellerated stall is not likely. Without a black box guess we will never know some GPS data may be available from anything on board like mobiles and gopros
Everything else I posted was completely accurate. So although I was wrong to characterize the pilots experience level as such it is a private non commercial venture and thus in the realm of hobbyist stunts. The benefit of such pursuits should be weighed against the danger posed to the public. I can’t help those who come on here with nothing better to submit than a little venom but sailing into a remote third word airport in an experimental aircraft isn’t like a airline flight in terms of safety and as obvious here where the strip is surrounded by low wires, possibly uncharted and hard to see.
RIP, South Effrikan! -

What rubbish. There was no Turboprop, what are the propeller planes like Bangkok Airways that use an auxiliary power unit turbine like found on mines and power plants and helicopters to turn a propeller on jet fuel. Which is kerosene by the way!
Light aircraft have normal piston engines that run on special high octane gasoline not kerosene that would destroy any piston engine! There are light aircraft with Diesels and even electrics now from what I have seen on Yu tube but not common yet.- 1

Why did the power go out in the area then?I don’t mind idiots combing mountains and freezing to death or skiing across Antarctica self funded but once these hare-brained schemes endanger the public they should be banned! Power lines could have been hit by “Falling” ? What a redeculous post! The video evidence is in controversial proof!Where have you read that? Power lines could have been hit while falling, American airforce pilots hit the cables of a cable car at hundreds of metres , power lines in Chonburi are 3 yards over the road level, you think he was flying 3 metres over the road level? The only international aircraft allowed in Thailand should be from certificated airlines operating under their Corporate governance or Government (ie Thai Airways, Japan Airlines) , properly insured.
Not premature hobbyists in light aircraft. RIP anyway he miffed it and hit power lines due to inattention or incompetence, not on purpose. So called “drones” should also be banned.

He hit the power lines and crashed Einstein!
Pilot error, purely. Who will compensate the Thai government for the results of this hate-brained scheme? American Air Force pilots hot dogging around Italy comes to mind, minus the deep pockets.- 2

Just one point, I would never use public coin operated laundry machines, because nobody knows what was washed just before your clothes and all the previous washes, those clothes could have contained drug residue, nasty chemicals, blood, grease from a car mechanics clothes etc., etc. Or how often dog blankets or whatever have been washed in the same machine.
Not for me, but each to their own of course.
This is completely late and utter TOSH. People have
Been using landrymats for generations never heard of any body getting sick or drugged. I went to one in OSAKA last year the soap powder is added automatically no extra charge. -
Won’t post links as I don’t know if the Independent, etc are not allowed here but authorities are admitting “possibly there was no dronn” and this this reaction eas a massive cock-up. These devices remIain a huge threat to aviation and should be BANNED over a minimal size without strict Pilot Licensing and registration. A queer hobby flying around peeping at people!

Price of firearms in Thailand?
Let me guess. Is it like everything else where you can get last years’ model for 30% more than it ever sold for in the US?- 1

It is a tragedy but the real culprits are the adults who dragged the child to the border. The US frontier is closed to illegal entry. This includes a so called “children” . The majority are young males of military age.
If every liberal accommodation was given to all the bludgerers the result would be Chaos.
Sorry the USA cannot be “all things to all people” but the lifeboat is full.

Forget about the specifics of the incident.
Can you find an all night illegal bar full of prostitution in your country? If you could what kind of people would you likely find there? Would you engage in physical combat with such people or watch yourself? (And do people who drink until 7AM start at 6:30AM?, no way, they on a tail-end of a long session).
Thailand is much safer than America, (or France) if you don’t look for trouble in dodgy spots on the other hand do the most wholesome thing imaginable, like attend a Christmas Market, in France you get killed

Wow. I learned the word “bong” originated from the Thai language. People all over the world have been speaking and using Thai language since their teen years and didn’t know it.
And for decades we have been getting the tone wrong and Thais would have no idea what we’re saying!- 1

You are a fine parent.
I told my parents I wanted to learn drums so they forced me to take piano instead (hated it) “Why worry about moving heavy drum equipment when you play piano the instrument is always there for you” they said. Actual reason they don’t want the noise! Bastards.

What is wrong with shoes and socks?
The farangs I sometimes see in open toe shoes have horrible feet covered with scaly growth and toenails fattened and black from funguses.
I always wear shoes and socks except while swimming I wear sandles with socks also. My aged feet are baby smooth, nails clear, and no foot fungus.- 1

Advice to the OP, don’t worry about blogs youtube, and forums. come to CM and the experience for oneself. Chiangmai (and Chiangmai province) will be what YOU make it, which can be just about anything.
Chiangmai will change, but not for you.
You will not likely change, it is too late and too difficult, as a “Yogi” you probably know this.
You “can never go home again” your attachments and desires will follow.
Oh and it’s a big city in 2018. Don’t expect the Iowa college boy off to Varanasi 1972 type epic. -
