  1. Well if the recent attacks all over the world including France, Sweden, Egypt, India, UK, Turkey, Tunisia etc etc arn't a warning to the whole world, I don't know what is.

The rational and decent Muslim nations are now realising it is a problem, hence the Actions of Turkey, Iraq, Egypt and Syria. I just hope the western nations would get involved a lot more.

Stale news reporting and parroting what you read? It's unoriginal and not needed.

Not that sharp a blade are you?!

  2. Anyone know a good pub / restaurant Udon have good ferang food reasonable prices? Good farang breakfast restaurant too. Going with the missus. Prefer not the bar area

I know this might be a tad too late, Kenny. But noticing you're online I have to share this. I highly recommend The Diary Restaurant.

It's run by a Nui (the excellent chef) and Karl. They have got an extensive menu ranging from American, Italian, Mexican, European and the list goes on.

From the time I discovered this gem of a restaurant, I have been a regular so does friends to whom I'd recommended.

It's down a small soi along Udon Dutsadi Road. You can find the exact location in udmap.

Avoid Samphan Fish & Chips though.

  3. You can try checking with Dog2Boy.com They are based in Udon Thani, and have many breeds both with and without pedigree available.

If they don't have it, most likely they know who does. However, you need a Thai speaker, as the lady owner speaks very limited English.

Also it would serve you well to aid her with photo of the breed you are looking for lest she's unfamiliar with the breed name.

In Bangkok, please beware of the dogs on sale at Chatuchak Weekend Market, as most are from puppy farms that disregards even the basics of breeding standards. Even pedigree papers were subjected to forgery as experienced by a colleague.

Most of the puppies are inbred and susceptible to health and temperaments issues.

Check out a groomer at the PTT station along Prachachuen Road. The owners are a couple that both speaks excellent English, and have many contacts which they would readily recommend for free.

They have 20!!!! different breeds? And that is not considered a puppy farm?

The amount of stress and appeasement signals the GSD gives on the training vdo is painful to watch. Training a dog into obedience can be done with much nicer for the dog training techniques. No need for a tiny choking rope around the neck of the dog.

Have you been there? My guess, probably not.

Is English, your second language? If No, then 'comprehension' is not your strength.

    Is luckydogs.com, a boarding farm?

  4. so sorry possum.could it have been tick infection.

Maybe that's possible, but when a dog is ill, it lies down and stays there, this one was trotting about like a horse, non stop all the time.

It's hard to tell if it was poisoned unless, anybody saw it vomiting or showing discomfort.

But I'll second Meatboy's guess! Strangely, death from tick infection could show no signs at all.

A friend's dog died unexpectedly once, and the only reason we knew was because it was diagnosed with tick infection a month earlier.

    My condolences for your loss.

  5. Such a nice bunch of joyful company you have WWWW. They all look quite healthy and mercuric. I'm sure they never make you feel alone and add to your happiness with their company.

For me, it still remains a dream to live in a rural area where I can surround myself with these selfless friends, who we treat no less than our own son and daughter at home.

Thank you for giving nice advice. Unfortunately, nearest swimming pool for dogs is at Kasetsard Animal hospital, BKK, not easy to honour an appointment (after health examination and booking) that comes in about 2 months. Timmy got another setback when he was discovered with lesser number of blood pallets, possibly due to ticks (so the vet says albeit both get monthly shots). It is almost 2 months now that he is on medication and the number is gradually increasing. Nevertheless, his love and shine in the eyes remain that I cherish every time I see him (after work).

Charlie remains an extremely obedient boy. It is my belief that he picks up (guesses) our talk and strongly reacts such as when we talk about shower, going out, car ride, etc.

    Cheers :-)

I can relate to your predicaments with regards to giving your boys the best in Bangkok.

Have you tried Ozono Dog Park? They do have a pool there and last I remembered, non-members are allow to use it for a small fee.

If you are anywhere near Chaeng Wattana Park (the only dog friendly park...that I used to frequent), it's a good place to socialize your boys. My furry companions swim at the canal there each time we went.

Btw, it was noted that this year was a record high for tick infestation in many places including the Northeast where we are. However, we were not badly affected compared to other dog owners.

It's perhaps due to my practice of including chopped garlic to their diet which they relished.

Do read about garlic in canine diet and make a learned decision. Of course, there will be many detractors here in TV, that have conflicting views of its benefits.

    http://www.petguide.com/health/dog/the-shocking-truth-about-dogs-and-garlic/

In fact, I was introduced to it by a friend. It worked wonders for my pack of 16, not to mention their beautiful coats.

    There's no doubt Charlie's an intelligent boy, he's a GSD after all...hahaha.

I am partial towards the German Shepherd breed. Especially, the Workingline, though my Showlines are just as special.

For my coming litter of 6, I'm giving away all the girls (with exception to the boys) as I already have to many ladies...hahaha.

The current litter have all been spoken for, and I am very selective to whom I gave them to.

If you want one in the future, do let me know. In the meantime, all the best to you, and I'm very sure both Charlie and Timmy are in the best of hands with the love you showered them

  6. Many years ago, I worked in Singapore where registering your sim card had to be done immediately when purchased or it will not work at all.

Reasons: To curb criminal activities and...yada yada yada.

    Of course, it's near impossible.

The population of Singapore is nowhere near that of Thailand, and the government accept it as fairly successful not total.

Why? Within hours, anyone who doesn't wish to register can just buy a sim card from the thousands smaller phone shops and for an extra dollar, the shop will get it registered using one of the hundreds of thousands of foreign workers id.

These id's are recycled and used over and over.

IMHO...the same modus and service would have already taken off hours ago.

  7. What a bunch of bovine feces!

People have known about this for a long time and the responsible people have done it before the deadline.

The irresponsible should be shut down as promised.

It is not difficult and there is no excuse for not complying on time.

This is the kind of thing that encourages the deadbeats to continue to be flakes.

Thailand is full of flakes, both Thai and expat.

Stand by your original requirement and teach the childish to grow up.

    Everyone would benefit..

I've been living here for 3 years and i didnt know about it, i live in a village and dont sit infront of a computer screen too often, last time i logged on to TV was in January infact i didnt even know about the coupe for about a month after, my wife has been away working in Aus while im here to do what ever i want and it doesnt include keeping up with the news.

    Interesting comment.

I guess it is coincidence that you are here online for the first time reading about it the day after the deadline.

It is 2015 and there are things we as responsible adults are required to know about and required to do.

There is no place so remote that you can not take care of business today with a minimal effort.

I too lived in a remote village without internet access for years,

but I did make the minimal effort to be responsible.

B, comes after A then followed by C....Z. The number 2, comes after the number 1.....

Honourable, straight, upstanding, law abiding, and responsible. However, strength of character is still indefinite and questionable.

Boring and pathetic existence? No doubt!

  8. NBTC to extend registration of prepaid SIM cards till August 31

    1-8-2558-13-03-12-wpcf_728x403.jpg

BANGKOK: -- The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) now allows users of cellular prepaid SIM cards another 30 days to register after the deadline for registration expired yesterday July 31.

NBTC secretary general Thakorn Tanthasith said however that the extension of registration until August 31 would mean only those who failed to register their cards by the July 31 deadline could answer calls but could not make calls during the extended period.

As of 15:39 my spare unregistered sim gotten free from AIS for a phone purchased, is still able to both make and received calls.

    Hmm...lucky?...lol.

  9. Could really do with a pinned thread of breeders, websites, telephone numbers.

Great idea, Keesters! Maybe, we can all partake in it by sharing the info. I'll second you smile.png

Though we should only collate the responsible breeders and those validated by personal experiences or by someone we know truly well.

    Cheerios

yes wwww.unless you can vouch for the breeder its best to say nowt.

i have a thai magazine every 3months with a lot of breeders adverts but i have never dealt with anyone.

so if anybody wants a certain breed i can only give you the contact.

    That's good enough, Meatboy!

After all the onus lies on the person with the need to be circumspect of any recommendations rendered.

Not everyone would render their knowledge or infos promptly and with integrity.

At the very least you aided someone honestly, without prejudices nor motives, I can only applaud you!

  10. Thank you both for the info I try to google the site Walter-briley kennel doesn't seem to work. Dog2boy site does work and I'm going to contact them. Thank you so much.

Most obliged! If it goes well for you in the quest for the breed you wanted at Dog2Boy, do ask for a discount ranging from 3000 - 5000 baht.

Mentioned that you were referred by a friend with many GSD's, myself. They would give you the discount for sure.

Did the same when I was recommended by a friend the first time I gave them my business and was given a discount that saved me a few thousand baht.

To my understanding, they did this to retain repeat business, and client's loyalty. Smart business sense, I'll say:)

    Good luck in your quest!

  12. This is Jeffery....

Held captive at the view point in Surat town....

We always take him some fresh veggies if we are going that way :)

Well, I'm sure Joey's in feline heaven. I'm not a cat person either and have yet to adopt one...who knows someday, I will.

Is that a Gibbon? It's awesome.

You sure are an animal lover CornishCarlos....I can tell!

At the moment, already got my hands full with 16 and soon to be 20-22 in my pack...lol.

Btw, will be editing and posting all submitted photos and have a voting. I'll be personally sponsoring the prizes to be given away to the winner.

Do you want the photo you posted with DD used? Or would you like to submit a photo of just him?

It's fine by me, but I reckoned the voting could be swayed by your good looks, mate...lol.

  13. I'd recently gotten hired help to chopped off and cleared my garden of some big trees that has been nothing but contributing unending litter of dead leaves on my property.

Some of the stumps were really big and deeply rooted. I was like you and looking to purchased some chemicals to be rid of them as the only other alternative was getting a Makro to dig it all up which would be costly.

The hired help simply brought a large bag of salt and pour it over the stumps of the trees and as an added measure, made a large pail of saltwater to pour over it.

I asked if it's effective and their immediate response were, "it never fails in the many years of experiences they had between them".

Mind you, these guys are workers specialised in ridding unwanted grass, foliage and trees. Thus I'm taking their word for it, though still early to see the results.

  14. Dear Esteemed Member's,

    Recently, I started a thread : http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/index.php?/topic/831320-Re:-TV-Dog-Lover's-Photo-Sharing.

You might have missed it! Thus, I'm posting this personal invitation hoping to have the pleasure of your support and participation.

As I had deemed sponsoring the prizes are not against forum rules, I would soon (in about a week) be posting all photos submitted by the current few owners who had been kind enough to partake in my endeavour for member's voting.

The highest voted photo will be declared as the winner, and I would gladly announced it and award the prizes as promised.

Your participation is very much sought for and duly appreciated.

My due apologies for this post should it offend anyone, though awaiting swift responses eagerly.

    Best regards and thank you!

Someone, on another thread, was asking me what race my cat av was!!

So, what's the race...lol. Btw, come to think of it why not we include pets of all variety here and not exclusively dogs.

Thus share with us the photos of your furry feline friends :)

  16. Sorry WhoWhenWhyWhat, I've not been playing the game

No worries, Weka! Aww...they are not in the least bit horrible...lol.

Understood that both you and Jake loves the Jack's. Any room for a puppy trade from the both of you?

I am expecting another litter of GSD's which would make my pack 20-22. Can't put up with too many bitches anymore but would keep the lads...hahaha.

    Thanks for sharing!

  17. Jason, out of curiosity, do you live in the city or somewhere out in the woods?

Please please please don't say in the city...because I have been feeling pretty safe within the city ( with exception of the motorcyclists and cars smile.png.

I'm in Surin Beach, on Phuket.

    Kill count is at 15.

    Jason,

Found 2, while uprooting some plants in my garden. The bigger 7" fire red one got away but I managed to pinned this 4" one down.

Soon to be my house lizard hunter after 3 days training...lol.

Will update with photos of their prowess and usefulness to rid your home of lizards.
