We got it directly from MFA. It's not published on their interweb yet.

People on this forum don't believe us clearly, they seem to not be aware of the exceptions and possibilities down south. I heard the exact same figure, I even posted that figure yesterday here too. I've seen plenty of hippies and Russians/Ukranians fix their overstay that way on islands too.

I doubt that figures. THB60k was before they implemented the bio metric system. Nowadays I heard figures around TBb200-250k.

My buddy has the hassle each year of trying to get a double-entry tourist visa, then and extension, then a border run and maybe one more extension to get him through the coldest months of winter "back home". He generally stays 5 or 5 1/2 months per year. A 90 day "visa exemption" stamp would be perfect as it would only require one border run each trip.

Of course your buddy has problem getting a double entry tourist visa, because it doesn't exist anymore. Years ago it has been replaced by the very difficult to obtain multiple entry tourist visa.

Just got back from a few weeks in Cambodia and brought my excess Cambodian money with me to Thailand, thinking I could exchange it. Went to the one of those yellow exchange booths and was told they don't accept it. Anyone know where I can?

How much you have? We go frequently to Cambodia.

Also, I am confused as to why the lady who stamped and charged me for the overstay as i left Thailand did not bring this up. The lady who expelled me was not the lady who stamped and charged the overstay. The lady who done that let me through to Cambodia and when i re-entered Thailand was when this happened. Should the lady who charged the overstay when i left not indicate this?

It is not her duty, do you think with how many people she deal with every day. Many years ago a Immigration Officer told me : Your passport, your responsibility.

But they(extensions) extend the date to which you have to go to a border and inform them of where you are. I though that is the whole point of the 60 day reporting? There is a 60 day limit to how long i can stay before doing this unless i extend. When i extend it puts that back effectively pushing the border reporting requirement date back which throws the date which when the visa ends back also by 30 days.  This was my confusion. Someoene has ponted out that your final entry must happen before that date on the visa. Im thinking all 60 day periods must be finished by that date. Now i know.I have forgiven her. She may enter heaven once again.

Your biggest mistake was to go to that border in the first place. Other borders would have let you in with visa exemption stamp.

Maybe that is what you call it now. But at that time, we all called it visa run. ????

The first change to Unlimited visa run was 2006, hence afterwards the word "border run or border bounce" became established. "Visa Run" ,nowadays is used for Visa application at a Thai Embassy.

It will be very interesting to see what the Russian and Ukrainians in Thailand will do for visa runs when they have completed their 2 land border runs.

The land border crossing at Wang Prachan had lines of Russians in March.

Most arrived in November and I expect by middle of May there will be some announcement on changes and relaxing of rules to prevents overstays

Russians have Unlimited access to Thailand, based on Bilateral Agreement signed 2005.

I'm not saying I didn't make mistakes, the rule is 2 entries per calender year which I am still under and any other border I would've been fine.

But I appreciate your help, if I have 20,000 baht in my Thai bank account will that work?

You are naive. Prepare THB20000 cash (no ATM before Immigration, onward travel ticket and a rental contract will help you at Airport.

From your description it looks like they were being nice to you (OK, avoiding doing the paperwork) so they likely won't have logged anything before sending you on your way.

I would think you'll be just fine to fly back, assuming of course that you meet the new vaxx requirements.

But he still has the "canceled" exit stamp from Cambodia, that tells every Thai IO the story. But should be Ok at Airport.
