Requiring proof that a TM30 notification has been done has recently become a common requirement around the country, including at Chaeng Wattana. The TM30 notification is a report by the hotel or main possessor of a dwelling of a foreigner staying at the property. If staying at a hotel, the TM30 should have been done, certainly in places like Bangkok or Pattaya. If staying at a friend's apartment, you would need to ensure that the TM30 is done before applying for an extension.

What do I need to bring to Immigration if I'm staying in my own condo? A TM30?  My proof of ownership?

There is if you have left/forgotten a bag.

It's not left there, it's happened to me when I turned up at the carousel on one trip & a rep was there with a sign & my name.

He told me that BA didn't load my bag & that it would come on the next flight so I left my number & address so they could have it delivered.

They ring me 2 hours later to tell me that they had 'found' it & could I come back but I refused saying that I was already at my place & to send it on as promised.

Next call I get is them saying they can't because customs opened it & found the lovely bottle of single malt tucked up in said bag.

I went back the next day & jumped through those hoops to get back in to the baggage hall.

OP should get his bags & then go to the bus counter, it's still not that busy in the airport despite what the media say.

Check the arrivals board online for a few days in a row to see how many planes land around the time that you will be landing & that will give you a good idea.

My flight on Thai Airways is scheduled to arrive in BKK at 6:00AM on Sunday, July 3rd. Think it's a busy time for multiple landings? I sure hope not...

  3. When my flight lands, I want to go immediately to Gate 8, sign up for a shuttle to Pattaya, go to to the baggage claim, pick up my luggage and return to Gate 8. Will airport security let me do this? Or must I proceed directly from the plane to baggage claim?

  4. The only way to bring culture to Pattaya - art, music, architecture, etc. is to build a university here!!!

At the least, the local government should begin by talking to people at Mahidol, Burapha and other Thai universities to stat an extension college. Operators of elementary, high school(gymnasium) private schools should be a part of the discussion. More and more immigrants families want a local university so they don't have to move to Bangkok  for their kids to get the cultural education training and experience they need as an alternative to the sex and bars they currently have.

    Think about it

  5. My wife got her BA in Hospitality and Hotel Management at Burapha University 's International College in Bang Saen, Chonburi. It is accredited and offers 6 business-related degrees. Her senior year was spent on a 9 month internship at a college in Singapore.

Is the quality of teaching/textbooks on the same level as most U.S. public colleges? Since I helped her navigate her research(I have a PhD in psychology from a public university in the U.S.), I can say with confidence the level is equal to other public universities. By the way, Burapha University has law and medical schools.

  6. There is no mention of the need to get vaccinated within 3 months of your arrival in Thailand. Also, no mention of the $100,000 insurance including COVID-19 requirement. Plus, if you get vaccinated(with proof), why do you need to have a negative PCR test before flying? And if you are vaccinated, why do you need another PCR test while in quarantine? Finally, if you're vaccinated(with proof) why are you quarantied at all, except to make ASQ hotels increase their bottom line?

  7. My filipina wife has a one-year student visa  (from a Thai university) which she attended and graduated in May. The visa expires September 15th. Can she leave for Laos to pick up a 30 or 60 day extension or is her visa such that she can't return, even for 30 days? What makes a Thai student visa different? This is critical, since she has applied for a CR-1 marriage visa to the U.S. and her interview isn't until October 3rd.

What are her options to convert or extend her visa?

No problems were found with the documents and none were missing, she said we had all the correct documents. But now they send all documents to Bangkok and have to wait for their return before they will marry foreign/thai couples... She didn't say where she was sending them. My Thai gf has been on the phone and apparently, this will be the norm at all amphurs going forward with only Bang Rak and Don Muang using the old system.

We are trying to get in at her local amphur in Bo Thong, Chonburi but the boss man is not available.

My filipina GF and now wife and I(American) were married at Banglamung Amphur on March 26th after we presented out freedom to marry documents on February 18th. All docs were correct and approved and sent to Bangkok(as previously noted) for the reasons given. We were advised at the time of application that because neither of us are Thai, the turn-around time could be just as they said - weeks or months. It turned out we got our marriage certificate  about 5 weeks later, which we thought was a miracle! So whether or not one spouse is Thai or neither is Thai makes no difference.  Be prepared to wait...

  9. My extended stay retirement visa expires in November. I'll be in the states, but the Thai Embassy in Washington will NOT renew it. They insist I apply for a new visa, like  did 10 years ago. A few years ago, I returned from a trip to Europe after my O-A visa expired and I simply went to my Immigration office in Jomtien, they held it for 30 days, I returned and they kept my passport for another 30 or 60 days, during  which time they sent it to Bangkok and issued me the extended stay visa. If memory serves, the total charge was around 3,000 baht. Does this sound like the easiest way to go? At least I wouldn't have to get a single-entry visa, sving me 1,000 baht.

Since I  plan to return to Thailand in June of 2020 for 4 months(an annual plan), should I consider another way to stay in Thailand?

  10. I am in the final stage of getting my marriage validated at the Banglamung Amphur, so this information is up-to-date. TheAmphur will NOT provide witnesses; you need to bring your own 2 Thai witnesses with their Thai ID cards.

What we need is a dual language Thai(Thai and English) that we can find in that complex to translate the certificate and other documents before we sign them. I'd appreciate any suggestions; please don't ask about witnesses. Not relevant in our case.
