  1. Cops are never there to help you.

Their mission all over the world is to score money or a notch in their belt.

Many are aggressive type personalities who have disdain for humans.

I've known a few good ones, but that is rare.

    Especially in metro areas.

Cops deal with the scum of society and quickly get an attitude.

That said, I was flipping a coin between retiring in Thailand vs. Phillipines.

Now I'm leaning toward the Phillipines.

They have vigilante justice in Cebu, but it's been working okay.

Further advice and comments are appreciated.

  2. Maybe the violence in Thailand needs a little perspective. In Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA (population 500,000), there were 26 shootings over the weekend of May 27-29. This weekend (July 1-4), there have already been 15 shootings. And the extended weekend is only half way finished.

Also, Milwaukee has a reputation as being a good place to live.

OK statisticians, mount your calculators, and go figure.

    Here's a better perspective.

Milwaukee is one of the most dangerous cities in the US for it's size.

I go there evey week and always carry protection.

I know a black cop who lives on the north side.

His house is surrounded by razor wire and he has 2 pitbulls.

  3. Never used any of them. Spending money for downgraded replacements turning up at the arranged meetings ? My sister is gone abroad etc, etc

Just sit around in the the beautiful restaurants and cafes and visit upscale department stores in Cebu and meet the real Cebuana beauties.

I'm hoping it's that easy when I get to Cebu.

It's always nice to meet LBFMs.

But I've had Internet relationships that have outlasted gf's and marriages.

It gives me a chance to know a person without the distraction of physical

contact. And it's given me a chance to meet introverted, highly intelligent, and successful women that I wouldn't meet in a mall.

I've met some dear friends out there in cyberspace.

  4. Well, thats different....and somewhat unusual on this forum.

You can live well in NZ on 900 nzd a week if thats your Number one choice.

Plenty of nice women in that age bracket....A lot of successful chinese gals in their forties looking for nice guys too.

Nice lifestyle and weather  in the north....Paihia,Kerikeri.

Auckland is great as is Tauranga and Mt Maunganui.

Or the south island queenstown in beautiful but getting expensive...in the main due to a LOT of Americans moving in down there.

Guess it depends what you are in to recreation wise.

    Disclosure I am a kiwi.

Well, I did a quick search of NZ real estate and the prices are insane!!

I have about $100K to pay cash for a house.

I can find tons of nice ones in the US.

And of course I could buy 3 or 4 in Thailand.

But $300K for a basic house in NZ is similar to California.

Maybe you know something I can't find.

Please advise if you have any links.

  5. You could live Reas well in NZ on 2500 usd a mth.

But if you want to get laid by nubile 25 year olds forget it at your age.

Phillipines Yes good english....some nice educated girls good life on 2500usd a mth.

Thailand well its pensioners paradise where all old pervs go to die in the saddle and with 2500 usd a mth its  good living.

Mexico can you speak spanish you need it outside tourist areas as you prob know.

Vietnam nice, upcoming, girls a bit more reserved.

It sounds like you've been around Snoophound.

Actually I would be more than happy with a good selection of 40 to 55 year old women. After a month in bed, I want someone to carry on a conversation and plan a life with.

That's the age range of women I'm talking to in Thailand, and they are well,

    more responsible and mature.

If I could find the same in NZ that would be great.

  6. How about Cebu having the most charming girls in the Philippines, the best educated in that country, the food much better than in all other parts of that country. Some of these charming beauties :o  know how to cook Thai food. Try, find out.

Do you really think Cebu women are better than Thai women.

I have been thinking of taking a trip there with the Cherry Blossoms group

to meet a cross section of women.

I've known them for years and they seem to be very reliable.

Are you aware of a good thread or forum board for the Cebu area.

Note of caution: There was a foxy girl named Linda from Cebu who was scamming guys on the Internet for Visa money, etc. My buddy almost got

taken for $5,000 until I explained the facts of life and put him in touch with Mike

    at Cherry Blossoms.

  7. I really enjoyed Chile and Peru and both on the cheap, but like everyone else has been saying, it's all in your taste.

Oh, I adore South American women; Peru, Columbia, Guadalajara. They are fabulous creatures.

But then I've never had the opportunity to date Asian women.

Except that I married an Asian from Kazakhstan. She was very aggressive, but that was just her personality.

    I love this thread.

After hearing all the advice, I might want to marry a Philippino, live in Thailand, and vacation in Bali. :o

  8. What a peculiar post.Surely there must be other factors than "nice ladies" and cost of living that you might wan't to take into account. In any case I can assure you that women from Mexico,Thailand, Vietnam and Philippines are not "similar" at all.Equally, although you don't sound particularly "hip", Thailand is certainly a more fashionable destination than Vietnam (largely because it is so much more prosperous).Mexico can be very hip too.The most ludicrous statement however is that there are "few women" in New Zealand.Last time I checked there were plenty.

-If I find a reasonable cost of living and "nice ladies", I am adaptable enough to fit in most societies. Yes there are other factors; ie crime, language, healthcare, etc.

-I didn't mean to imply I am "hip". That was a description used by some friends. And yes they did say Ho Chi Minh City was a very nice, prosperous place.

-Please advise me on differences between MX, Thai, VN, and PI women. I want to make a decision that is beneficial to them as well as me. I'm not looking for bar girls or parties. I'm just looking for one emotionally healthy potential partner. I've been talking to two in Northern Thailand that seem to fit the bill.

-I know nothing about the women of NZ. Except that I've looked for them on the Internet for years, and have found precious few.

I'm just looking for a nice place to live based on the money I've got to work with.

Thailand and NZ are at the top of my list, but I'll be doing a more extensive spreadsheet.

  9. It does depend on where you go for your camping and fishing -maybe this link will help -

    http://www.siam-info.de/english/snakes_poisonous.html

WOW! I had heard about the Cobras, but had no idea you had so many species of vipers and elapids. I've heard the Russells Viper and Krait are very nasty.

I can see that I'll have to be very careful while camping and fishing at dusk.

We have Timber Rattlers along the Mississippi River, but they are shy.

However one took a strike at me while I was trying to photograph it.

  10. If it's still to tight money-wise I'd go to Thailand, but rural NZ is probably alot cheaper than you think.

    cv

Thanks a bunch CV. I didn't know that.

2,500/mo = about 5,000 NZ money. That might be enough to survive in the outlying areas.

I spent years as a professional flyfisherman, and of course NZ is legendary.

That would be paradise for me. Now I just need to find a woman who is a native

so I can get citizenship there.

The other possibility is to convince one of my Thai or PI nurses to live

in that area. Registered nurses can get citizenship almost anywhere.

Do you know of any websites or single-sites that apply to that region?

  11. Viet Nam is hip and more Western,

Why would you care? your 58!

I keep forgetting I'm that old.

But I'm younger than I'm going to be... :o

I included Viet Nam because I have an old fraternity brother who has

lived all over the region; Korea, Beijing, Kazakstan, Mongolia, VN, etc.

He says the girls of VN are excellent and portable (meaning you can take them

    anywhere and they fit in).

The woman I'm talking to in VN is a 45 year old executive who is widowed, dependable, and insistent on taking care of me. I can't shake her.

I study personalities and psychology and know her type well.

I gave her the tests. The downside is her type can be boring, non-intuitive, not playfully sensual, and prone to fear.

I'm not sure if a guy can live with that without losing interest.

  12. I’m trying to decide whether to go to Thailand, Philippines, Viet Nam, or Puerto Vallarta, MX.

I want to live 4 months in the states and 8 months in one of these countries.

I’m 58 and have a retirement income of about $2,500 US per month.

I ‘ve been talking to very nice ladies in each country.

Here’s the way I see it:

The women are similar in each country.

PI women speak English, are Christian, and willing to live in the US.

Thailand is a cleaner, safer country with very nice people, and cheap medical care.

I’ve heard great things about Thailand, and am looking at Korat or Udon Thani.

Viet Nam is hip and more Western, but a little more expensive.

Puerto Vallarta is more expensive, but closer to home. Mexican women are very nice, but crime is higher in Mexico.

My first choice would be New Zealand, but there are few women there.

And I don’t think I could afford to live as well there.

    Any comments are much appreciated.

After all, Isan IS home to a few varieties of cobra, I'm told.[/quote]

    I'm new here.

If I go into the bush to do some camping and fishing, what are chances of

    encounters with venomous snakes?
