Thank you astral. Yes, that's what I meant by "renewal". leave the country and come back in to get a new 90 day stamp. So I understand that the Aranyaprathet crossing will be a good spot to do that.

Any links to reliable visa run companies?

It's time to leave the country and renew my non-imm 'O' visa (after 90 days) and I was just wondering which would be the best border crossing to do it at, if anyone had some experience with that?

I'm in Bangkok so the closest crossing seems to be Aranyaprathet-poipet, but I've heard and read horrid stories about this crossing. I understand that it's not much problem to get the 15 days visa there, but I'm not sure if that would be the best place to renew (get fresh 90 days) the non-imm 'O' visa?

This is my first 'renewal' so I'd really appreciate any advice.

ok, spoke with the Hull consulate. It is indeed available also for non-uk nationals (not sure if only for other EU countries or for everyone else as well) and can be done by mail and returned to germany.

Hello people, After surveying the different options avaialble for me for a long-term stay in Thailand without retirement, work or marriage, it seems like the 12 month multi-entry type 'O' visa from the Thai consulate in Hull is the way to go (with reason stated as 'visiting friends'). BUT i am not a UK citizen (Austrian), so my question is whether this visa will be available also for me or only for UK nationals?

If it would be available for me, would it be possible to to it by mail, or should i go there personally? will they send me the visa by mail back to Germany or is this too much to ask?

These mini-vans (rot-too = car-cupboard) link different locations around Bangkok. Most are not as new as the ones to Suvarnabhumi, but cheap and convenient they are.

any information on where they run? some website or something? is there one to the airport from thonburi or silom area?

Hello all, i am not sure if this is the right place to ask this, but i couldn't find anywhere more suitable so i'll ask here. you see, i'd like to go to koh chang and surrounding islands (Trat province) for some time, but just the thought of spending six hours in a closed bus with arctic-like air-con (with no possibility of "turning it off") and being bombarded by non-stop horrible music and/or stupid hollywood movies at the very top end of the volume range (yes, i've been through this trip before) is not exactly my idea of a fun way of getting there, so does anyone here has any idea if there is a way to get to Trat (from bkk, i forgot to mention) with non a/c buses?

i don't mind changing buses somewhere along the way (chonburi, rayong, chantanburi...) if there is no direct one.

i also know that there is a train running from bkk to sattahip/pattaya, so if there is an option of continuing with a non a/c bus after that train ride, that would be great.

the open air local crawls down sukhumvit from bangkok to trat every hour or two from 6am. just stand by the roadside and wait.

frequent stops en route so you can enjoy the roadside scenery at your leisure.

be sure to set aside a little time, and maybe one of those little white cotton masks....

coconutty At those hours your only choice would be a taxi. The fare to the Banglamphu district will likely be ~ 300 baht all in (includes tolls and 50 baht taxi fee).

we will be arriving late and leaving the following morning on domestic flight, so need a place close to the airport for the night, but not one of those expensive luxury hotels that usually lurk near airports. is there anything cheap closeby?

So where in Bangkok do you recommend for acupuncture? I went to Hua Chiew Hospital (I think it's spelt like that anyway) and the doctor that I saw only spoke Chinese. I had to get a Thai to translate my dodgy Thai to Chinese.

I don't know how well it went though. Got malaria soon after going to her!

is it safe to fly there these days (with air asia) and immediately move to kota bahru on the malaysian side? what's the best way to get from narathiwat airport to KB?

cheers, anywhere else? i'm not stuck just on thailand. malyasia, bali etc. could also be an option if anyone has any idea about those places.

ok so the deal is that i'd like to leave the city and spend my days and nights in the most peaceful, breathtakingly-beautiful, out-of-the-way beach environment AND be close to a fast and reliable internet connection which i need for my work.

where would be my best bet without compromising any of the two too much?
