  1. The US economy has never been in recovery since 2008 and the central planners are no longer able to hide the truth. The fact that the Dow Jones is hitting all time highs is holographic casino fantasy compared to what is really happening in the real economy. IMHO now is the time to be holding PM's or mining stocks as I think the shit will be hitting the fan properly in the very near future. Just wait until the bond market collapses with help from China and Russia

  2. I believe you are on a one year extension of stay rather than a visa so there is no need for any change as long as you can still qualify.

Yes I am on a one year extension of stay due to being married and I have a work permit. So Lopburi3 you think I would not need to change my extension of stay status due to being married and all I would need is the new BOI work permit?

And yes I know it’s a nightmare to be actually accepted for BOI and you have to jump through many hoops but I don’t have a choice - I just would like to keep my current status as being in Thailand because I am married and not have to change to a BOI one year visa.

  3. Hi All,

Just need a bit of clarification if anyone can help.

My company is in the process of applying for BOI status in Thailand and I just wanted to find out if I need to change visa's. I am currently using a one year marriage visa with work permit for the current company but when my work permit is changed to over to the new BOI company work permit will I have to change my current visa to a BOI visa or can I just stay on my marriage visa.

Any advice or experiences regarding this matter would be very much appreciated.

    Thanks.

  4. Hi All.

Last night my 16 month old XBOX 360 packed up with a (bottom right) red light flashing and a E74 error showing on the screen. It’s not under guarantee as it was bought from the 6th floor MBK and is chipped.

Has anyone had any similar experiences, especially regarding getting it repaired? I don’t want to pay 2,000 baht just to find out it does the same thing two weeks later.

Does anyone know a good place to take it for repair? Or do you think I should take it back to the shop I bought it from.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

    Many Thanks,

    LP

  5. Rattanaporn Rattanaphat, who works as a beach masseuse, said she had collected 30 kilograms of ambergris and was still trying to find more.

Now there's an example of shameless greed if ever I saw one.

errrr I'd be the same and I very much doubt you or anyone else here would be much different.

''Hey there is 70,000 baht whale puke washing up on the beach, its free help yourself..... ''

''Sorry, I'd rather rub a fat sweaty western guy with oil for sweet F all an hour.''

Don't be such a Thai bashing prick all of your life, its what ruins this website and makes it a stuffy stagnant pit of moaning expats.

  6. Hi

An over-voltage damaged PSU are often easy to fix (mostly the protection circuit blows its guts) it *should* be easy to repair, is this a XBOX 360 or just XBOX? either way without powering the unit up the primary side of the power supply is always running once the power is supplied and thats where the protection circuit is located anyways.

    hope that helps.

    cheers.

    Many Thanks Saraquin,

I think its just the PSU which will be damaged I will take it to MBK tomorrow to be fixed or replaced - The same thing happend to a friend at work and he said he just got the fuse replaced in the PSU.

I've got a spare 110V PSU, if you can't get your PSU fixed send me a PM :)

Thanks for the offer but I have taken it to the 6th Floor of MBK and they are going to repair it and also modify it to 220 Vaults so I will not need the step-down box - Cost 800 Baht

  8. You may find it's just the PSU that's blown. Take it along to MBK and see if they can power it up with a replacement PSU. Don't just go and buy one as they are not "upwards" compatible between the three versions (although strangely, backwards compatible).

    Good point GL,

I was thinking that as well because the XBOX was never turned on I just plugged in the cable attahced to the PSU thinking it was the plug for the TV.

  9. Hi All,

I am looking for a bit of advice .... This morning I accidentally plugged my Xbox directly into a 240V plug socket without using the step down box which reduces the voltage to 110 V (The machine was bought from MBK and is Japanese model) Anyway as soon as it was plugged in the trip box upstairs went and turned off all the electric in the house – I did not even turn the xbox on. The Xbox afterwards is completely dead when trying it with the step-down box but there was no smoke coming out of it.

Has anyone had a similar thing happen or know if it will be easy to repair.

    Many Thanks,

    Laurence

  10. What a bunch of dim-witted censorious moralists!! You actually seem to think that the mere carrying of drugs is evil, and that taking them is terrible, and that this poor woman deserves this sentence. You obviously think that prohibition is sensible and right.

The "war on drugs" is an idiocy that has created most of the criminality in the world today and cost society untold billions and untold misery. Drugs should be decriminalised and state-controlled, with support and care for addicts. That policy would be an immense improvement on the current state of affairs worldwide (except in a few enlightened European countries), costing the whole lot of us far far less in taxes and suffering.

People who support the current drastic penalisation of drug-takers and drug-traders are simply out to lunch.

I completely agree, there are too many neoconservatives on this forum in need a serrious reality check. Just think of the drug wars taking place in Mexico right now - If Cocaine was made legal the killings would stop straight away. And there would also be no one standing on street corners in the US and Europe pushing it to the vulnerable.

  11. Hi All,

Just wanted to see if anyone has set up a PayPal account with Bank of Ayudhya ATM - I have just set up an account with them and Paypal is not accepting the card Well it's saying the bank is not authorizing it. I have set up an account previously with the Bangkok Bank Be1st card and had no problems.

Has anyone got any suggestions I am desperate to set up a Skype account to make some international calls.

    Cheers LP

  12. Hi All,

For the last couple of days most of the channels on my Gold UBC package have not been working getting a E48 or E52 message. Now it has been raining here in Bangkok as well for the last couple of days but it is a bit strange that the news and some sports channels are still working.

    Has anyone got any ideas?

    Cheers

  13. The question is when does your permitted to stay (entry) end? Extensions of stay are normally accepted during the last 30 days of any 90 day stay. There is no change of visa required - you just extend your present entry for family reasons. Tax payments are the normal requirement for local income but you should be a list of requirements from your immigration office. It will include your passport/copies, work permit, tax receipts, departure card, marriage certificate, her ID card, her home register, photos together at home and showing house number, map to house, interviews, TM.7 form, 4x6cm passport photo taken in last six months and 1,900 baht. They will probably also want a local bank passbook/copies and letter of account balance to match it from bank manager. You will need signed copies of just about everything.

    Thanks Lopburi3

So it's just a question of filling in the TM.7 form "I wish to apply for an extension of temporary stay in the Kingdom of Thailand for another period of 365 days" as well as having all the other paperwork obviously?

    Cheers
