Thank you both.
So to clarify,If I/we earn below £18,600 on the first year my wife is here this will not be taken into account when in 2019 (extension of visa) comes around?
and...
earnings from my wifes employment gets gets taken into account/combining the Finacial requirement on the last 12 months before/for application?

Hi
My wife's uk spouse visa has been granted for 33 months as of December 2016.
She has found herself employment starting mid January 2017.
I am thinking ahead at the future prospect of the extension after 2 years and the financial requirements.
I am self employed.
My Questions are:
Can we combine our earnings?
For the extension will I need to show my earnings for the duration of her stay here (over 2 years)? For the annual requirement?
of £18,600 or just the 12 months prior to the extension/application.
After 5 years what is the financial requirement for Indefinite leave to remain?
I read £35,000 , Is this correct? Is this combined?
It it is early days but as I am self employed I prefer to plan ahead, any help much appreciated
Thank you

Why were you refused the previous visit visa? Did you subsequently get a successful visit visa?
A small bear trap that may come along and bite you for FLR. Good to sort it out now. I wish we had. If your wife has kids in Thailand that are staying in Thailand for the time being or not even coming to the UK. You will need their birth certificates and translations.
I included some photos and a few flight/hotel bookings because we hadn’t been together for that long.
To whittle things down further.
Applicant:
Online application (Still to be completed)
Letter of introduction
Ielts A1 Pass certificate
copy of Thai national ID card
Passport & Copy
TB certificate
Birth certificate - NO
2 passport photos - Not any more
Proposed flight itinerary
Sponsor:
Sponsor letter
Copy of Passport/stamp page
Appendix 2 form (Still to be completed)
Copy of driving licence
Character reference X 2
CRB certificate
Sponsor Financial: (self employed)
Bank statements (how far back? Covering the year and upto most recent??) Covering the year of your accounts you are supplying. I stapled each month together and had the bank stamp and date the first page of each. I have read differing opinions on this but Santander made it easy for us. Is your name and address on the statements if they are online statements?
ISA savings statement - Irrelevant. You can’t combine self employment earnings with anything else

We were refused 2 visit visas
very naive and very stupid so I don't need reminding but Being miles apart I'd left my then girlfriend to sort a lot of the documents etc, she put a lot of transcript in with the application and I never checked it, I'd mentioned something about cash work, I actually said "maybe" followed by a short sentence about work! This was in 2014 when we first met and I actually was very uneducated on immigration matters!
secondly, my then girlfriend lied to her boss about her intentions with time off and infact she was going to leave the company she worked at , The embassy called her boss at the time and he said to his knowledge she was going to visit her Aunt for 2 weeks.
Thirdly, The embassy called her while she was at work, she was not supposed to be on the phone, nervously she did not answer basic questions about me like my birthday, address and date of birth!
So basically we royally screwed it up .
second refusal was simply that we did not address the first visa refusal issues or explain the comments I'd made.
We have had no successful visit visa. This was 2014/2015
My wife has no children!
I am providing Apr 2015-Apr 2016 business accounts for financial requirements but should I not include bank statements up until now also?
Being that it will be September when we send in our application.

Thank you OG & Rasg.
I see where you are coming from, I thought photos might add to the relationship evidence as they sometimes refuse applicants on the basis not enough relationship evidence.
I will take out the unnecessary documents.
thanks for your help ??

Thank you OG.
I read a lot of mixed opinions on the forums which is as to be expected.
My thinking is we won't get refused for adding a little extra? To imagine it could frustrate the Eco if he has to sieve through a few extra pages seems ridiculous.!
Some say 1 year bank statements for self employed persons? And photos of us together over 1.5 years you say no ?

Hi forum members
I am in the process of gathering documents for my wife's settlement visa to the U.K.
We had a previous visit visa refusal so I feel the need to add some extra pieces of evidence.
Please let me know if I've put too much/not enough?
I know you cannot check the finer details but an overall opinion would be helpful
we have not yet filled out the appendix 2/online application or Su07 form ( not sure if I need SU07 form?)

Thanks Faz
No we have not lied to UKBA or provided any false documents, they say we will need to provide compelling new evidence with our next application. UKBA telephone called my wife (girlfriend at the time), she told the truth but stuttered, couldnt pronounce my full name , forgot birthday and didn't know my address. As you say , she was worried about the impact on her job/reaction from the boss.
Also they state "you have failed to show sufficiently strong family, social or economic ties to Thailand"

Thanks Faz
No we were not married at the time, the refused visit visa was 1 year ago. We got married this year!
Being honest the refusal was completely understandable, my wife told a lie to her boss at the time about the reason she wanted time off, embassy called the company she worked at and were told conflicting reasons.
Secondly, my wife added tons of transcript thinking it would be helpful but with her limited English never noticed a statement I made 2 years ago regarding work, at that time I wasn't aware of the rules with work/visit visa, I'd mentioned some cash work in the statement! I know how stupid and naive we were so please don't remind me of that!
Thirdly, they said my wife did not answer basic questions about us adequately, well they called her while she was at work, she felt on the spot and was surprised by the call, she could not pronounce my surname, forgot my birthday etc Again, we were unprepared and naive!
My main concern is rectifying this if I can in my sponsor letter to them they say I need to make a reasonable explanation for this! My solicitor said they will hold this against us now. The statement was made 2 years ago!
Another question- regarding a letter from my accountant to include with my self employment documents, To whom do I address the letter to?
Many thanks

Thank you Tony
Would ongoing self employment evidence be such as a letter from my accountant with a projection of my business? Or?

Does the SA302 show 3 years of tax or when I started self employment ? If I show an SA302 now it will show very little unless I pay what is due in Jan 2017, As I was in a low paid job before I started self employment 16 months ago and was not liable to pay tax so would it be a sensible option to pay now? Obviously I would prefer to not pay thousands of pounds of tax now when I need funds for the visa etc I want my history to look as good as it can so what do you think ? Pay all now, start paying monthly or wait till it's due.!
Thanks Kenny also for your info ??

Hi Faz
When you say requested do you mean after they had gone through your application they contacted you?
I will be able to get a letter from my accountant stating a projection, earnings etc to go along with my self assessment ,SA302 and bank statements.
Would anyone advise me to make any tax payments not due until 31st Jan 2017 to pay now? Or be contributing towards it? Even though it's not due! Will they take it into account. I can see how it would look good if I'd already paid what was due next January as I'm fairly new to self employment.
No Kwasaki my wife has not been to the UK before, our visit visa was denied unfortunately.
Thanks for the info

Hi
My wife and I will be applying for a settled person visa to the UK soon.
I have been self employed for 16 months and started mid April 2015 so a full financial year has passed. I have filed a tax return online and have my tax figures that will be due in January 2017 so I do not owe anything from previous years but tax/insurance will be due Jan 2017.
My question is , when considering my finances will the embassy check with HM revenue if I am upto date or owe anything?
As I called HM revenue and they say nothing is owed only due next year. I got some advice and I'm not sure if it's genuine! The advice was to make sure everything is paid regarding tax etc I would prefer to pay it all in January but am concerned it will effect the visa application if when the embassy call HM they say nothing has been paid yet.
I was told the embassy will/may call HM revenue to check my status.
Any help please ?
Thanks

Self employed-
Is the financial requirement £18,600 based on the figure Net profit ? (After allowable expenses)
Or after Annual investment allowance (AIA) also
=Net profit for tax purposes?
On my tax return figures I have 2 figures that reduce the tax I will pay, total allowable expenses and annual investment allowance which dramatically lowers the Net profit for tax purposes.
-
It's just extra reassurance, I am new to the forum and making sure I am 100% sure on each matter regarding.
I appreciate the help & advice ??
Thank you
-
Thank you for confirming that.
Can anyone else also confirm this please?
Also, I am self employed so is the £18,600 requirement after expenses have been deducted? And before tax has been taken?
I earn £30,000 per annum - £8000 = £22,000

Yes I will be applying for my wife to come to England.
I am a British and living in England!
I have a child from a previous relationship in England and my wife in Thailand has no children.
What is my financial requirement?
Do I need to earn additional on top of the £18,600 as I have children or is it if I am sponsoring a child alongside my wife that I need to earn additional costs e.g £18,600 + £3,700 for 1 child
-
Are you intending to take the children to the UK? What nationality are they?
-
Hi
My wife has no children, I have 2 children from a previous relationship who do not live with me!
Does my financial income need to be £18,600? In regards to obtaining a "family of a settled person" visa
I'm not sure if I need to have additional income for each child or if this does not apply to me.
Or are the dependants/income requirements referring to if my wife has children?
Many thanks
Combined earnings requirements? UK spouse extension
in Visas and migration to other countries
Posted
I will rely on only the year before the application and not need to use an average of previous year/s
I could not declare all of my self employment expenses when using my Tax return for my wife's recent visa as it would have taken me as a sponsor below the pre-tax threshold.
If I can combine all my wife's earnings and take that into account each tax year Apr-Apr then I can declare all my rightful expenses and know we are above the financial requirement when it comes to the next extension after 30months.
