Extremely well written and true. I tried very hard while in Bali to get to know them as I had enjoyed their writers, ballet, music and paintings. They all took advantage of me, and when they got what they needed they dissapeared. The current generation of them were taught the hard line from their parents who went through the crap there. Advice to Thai gov, give them Phuket right now, and stop any further invasion, kind of like Ukraine.
Yes, for Russians, truth and honor are seen as a weakness to be exploited...

Altho many of us will not have to pay additional tax, we will still have to file, which will mostly be done by accountancy firms...a real windfall for them!!!...the way i see it, the banks will hold back 15% of our offshore deposit and we'll have to file in order to have it returned...

I believe most people here are safe - for now.
"At the time of writing, Thailand has concluded 61 double tax agreements with countries worldwide.
Armenia Hungary Poland Australia India Romania Austria Indonesia Russia Bahrain Israel Seychelles Bangladesh Italy Singapore Belarus Japan Slovenia Belgium Korea South Africa Bulgaria Kuwait Spain Cambodia Laos Sri Lanka Canada Luxembourg Sweden Chile Malaysia Switzerland China Mauritius Taipei Cyprus Myanmar Tajikistan Czech Republic Nepal Turkey Denmark Netherlands Ukraine Estonia New Zealand United Arab Emirates Finland Norway United States of America Germany Oman Uzbekistan Great Britain and Northern Ireland Pakistan Vietnam Hong Kong Philippines"
Who care about the double tax agreement when my country NZ, doesn't charge capital gains on property sales and Thailand charges something like 39% on capital gains...big loss for me as i see it...

So just because Hitler hated the Jews, and the Jews are/were not left wing, you conclude that Hitler wasn’t right wing? You will have to explain that piece of deduction to me.
Hey, how about you define your version of "right wing"???

The Thais might have a different opinion of them if they read up on what the Bolsheviks got up to, but I guess a baht’s a baht. ????
Very true...and also look into who made up the bulk of the Bolsheviks, especially a guy named Yagoda...

Ok, Ok...good analysis and a good point as well, thanks

Thanks all for you input????...altho i would like to direct some of my savings to Thailand, where i have a wife and young daughter, i just can't bring myself to put it in an account earning -1% when in NZ here i have the deposit sitting at 6% on a 6 month term...i could probably find a better rate in Thailand but i'm sure it would be way to risky for my liking and for this time in my life as i'm 75 y.o....

The larger Thai banks all have a website where you can find the rates for term deposits in English.
Yes, i've seen that, but i'm asking for recommendation and/or maybe other options...as well, the bank site to which you're referring desplays the rates in a format that not clear to me...thanks for the suggestion tho????

It's weird. I see a "right-wing" nut job and a "left-wing" nut job, both wrong about much of what they say and only really looking to score points for "their tribe".
I don't think either of them has any sort of moral high-ground.
I like the use of the word "tribe",,,right on point!!!

This is from a friend in Pattaya (cropped and pixelated).
The approximate Baht amount was rounded to 1000s and the rate being about the currency market rate (quite generous).
On the other hand immigration will likely do the math too.
Very good!!...thanks much????

Thanks all for the help so far????...altho the Canadian embassy sample looks great, the NZ Embassy letter is just a notarized statement(by me) of my claimed income...in other words, i write the statement and the embassy just puts their stamp on it...

Is NZ one of the countries allowed and authorized to do letters? Was the letter based on money going into a Thai bank account or one in NZ.
If it is based on a Thai account, then they may want to see it to believe it. If NZ then take copies of your monthly statements with you
If having to prove it, then what is the point of submitting "Declaration of Income" sworn document???

Hi All...I am organizing a marriage visa application up here in Sakhon Nakhon using the Declaration of Income letter from my embassy...my question, the wife rang immigration today and said they were fine with my Embassy Declaration as i had left them a copy last week which needed to be reviewed by the Chief...anyway, after my wife spoke with them she said they were also looking for some sort of monthly 40k baht documentation into my Thai bank account from overseas...so now i'm a bit confused because i understood that the Embassy income declaration would satisfy the money aspect of the visa application...anyways, i sure hope i can get some clarity before i return to the Immigration office next week...thanks in advance for any help...James

I assume you read this.
"Copy of the applicant's bank statement for the past 2 months showing a balance of at least 800,000 Baht (or the equivalent) OR a certificate of income confirming a monthly income of not less than 65,000 Baht"
Source: https://wellington.thaiembassy.org/th/publicservice/81086-non-immigrant-visa-o-other
Note it states it can be the equivalent of 800k baht that could be in your bank in New Zealand or elsewhere.
I assume you noted the insurance requirement on the list. The might really ask for $100.000 US insurance instead of the 400k/40k baht insurance mentioned.
So, applying for O-A visa from NZ, the 800k baht needs to be seasoned for 2 months in other words??

Just as a matter of interest, the Thai embassy site in New Zealand says the 800k baht needs to be in the bank 2 months before application...is that correct and if not, how does a person inform the Embassy they are incorrect??? cheers

The price of eggs hasn't increased the last half year, but the size has. We are getting size 3 instead of 0 or 1 for the same price. Also Nescafe Red has gone from 200 grams a bag (2 years ago) to 180 and now 160 grams. But the price stays the same. There is no inflation!
it's called shrinkflation...
